Re: Introduce Yourself Here! Welcome to June 2023!

  • @thescarletmom wow I’m glad I’m not alone haha. The funny part is the jeans that used to fall off me, I almost had them taken in a couple months ago. And then I realized I might need them in the second trimester if I got pregnant but here we are at the first day of a positive test breaking out the bigger size 😂

@kalesix3 @smalone53 oh stretch marks. I also avoided them on the belly but by boobs are just two stretch marks at this point because I pumped exclusively for 12 months. So they were literally pulled and stretched thin and they’re so wrinkly! I am hoping to start getting achey boobs soon, because maybe they’ll fill back in during pregnancy

  • @smalone53 I know this isn’t the advice you’re looking for- but my advice is to start leaning into body positivity. You may or may not get stretch marks and there isn’t a whole lot you can do to change what you’re genetically predisposed to. Women who have stretch marks don’t have them because they didn’t moisturize. Your body is doing something amazing and no matter how it grows and changes through the process you remain beautiful and worthy of love, desire, and respect
  • Introduce yourself: I am a mom of two, and have had a few losses along the way. So excited and a little nervous about having a 3rd, but really hoping this baby is it!!

    Due date? June 20th

How did you find out? We had been trying for 5-6 months, and I was due with my period the day I found out. I told myself I wouldn’t test that soon anymore, but ended up giving a urine sample and looked at that leftover collected urine and I was like “oh whatever, I am sticking a test in there!!” And it was positive! My 3 year old found out with me because I was explaining how tests work. Whoops. Really didn’t expect a positive!

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?): I’m married and have a 3 1/2 year old and a 2 year old. I’m mostly a stay at home mom but work at cleaning jobs two days a week. My sister is pregnant with her first and is 4 weeks ahead of me. That’s been special!

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally) Super tired, have to pee a bit more than usual, VERY out of breath already

@birthingabustillo I can relate a bit, I’ve had multiple miscarriages and a my second son was born at 27 weeks. The nicu was traumatic, but he is also so healthy!! Worth it!!!
  • Adessa, so sorry to hear of your losses! 💔 Being PGAL (pregnant after loss) is insanely nervewracking. Feel free to check in on the PGAL thread, we have several other moms who *TW* are pregnant after infant loss during or after labor.
  • Due date? June 16th

How did you find out? Had a feeling and wanted to confirm before attending 2 weddings over the weekend

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?): just my husband and my dog!

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)? Fatigue, super thirsty and some dizziness. A little overwhelmed but grateful it happened this fast! Definitely struggling with the changes to come but I know I’m very lucky.

  • @Milliedm we're due date twins! My sister (who's birthday happens to be June 14) also has Hashimoto's, and she and her husband were finally able to welcome their first last year. Thinking of you and wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!
  • Introduce yourself: Hi I’m Laura! This is my first baby and I’m nervous but so excited!

    Due date?
    June 17

    How did you find out?
I was getting tested for Covid the other day and the nurse asked me about my last period. I mentioned that it was a few days past due and she suggested I take a pregnancy test. I had taken a couple of early ones, since we were TTC, but they were both negative. I took another when we got home and it was positive! I was genuinely surprised. I had thought we missed our chance this month and was ready to try again in October.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?):
I have no kids yet. I’m actually a senior in college. My husband’s name is Noah and we got married in May!

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)?
Im still recovering from a case of COVID so I’m mostly feeling those symptoms right now, and I’m a little worried about how the sickness and medicine may have affected the baby. Also a little nervous to tell friends and family, because we’re young and in college. But we’re so excited to be parents!!!!
  • I will also be graduating from college massively pregnant! Fun! I live in the South and I think our ceremony is outdoors!😭
  • Due date?
    June 16th 2023

    How did you find out?
I took a test at 9DPO and saw the faintest line! I kept testing and it got darker.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?):
I am 26 years old and have a 5 year old son. I have been with my boyfriend for 4 years. He has 5 of his own children so #stepmom life & I love it! I work full time from home in construction financial analysis. I love going on walks, reading, meditating, and cooking.

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)?
So far I am feeling ok. I have a slight headache and mild nausea. I feel a little tired but overall I still feel good. Emotionally I am scared after reading so many things online but I’m trying to stay positive and trust the divine timing of everything.
  • @thescarletmom thats awesome! I’m happy to hear that. My birthday is actually June 28. Bring on all the June babies lol. Thank you ❤️
  • @ccmrc143 just commiserating on the exclusive pumping life, I did that with my son for 15 months and never again. I got nipples covered in blood blisters, and no amount of changing pumps or suction levels or anything fixed it and it's why I had to stop even though I wasn't ready. I feel like nobody talks about how insanely hard EP is but man it does a number on you. I hope the soreness means some plumping up is coming your way, it's such a boon in pregnancy after going through the deflated saggy stage after weaning.
  • @Milliedm that's so funny! My husband's birthday is June 10 and FILs is the 24 so we have lots of June babies too!

@kalesix3 I also EP'd with DS1 for over a year. It was such a nightmare with pumping, but I felt lucky*ish* to be an over producer so I was never worried about supply.
  • Hello! I’m very excited to have found this discussion and will find it helpful to be able to relate to those due around my date.

    Due date?
    June 18th

    How did you find out?
We had been trying for years and went through all the steps my gyn could do without referring me to a fertility clinic. I decided to make an appointment with shady grove fertility after trying for four months after a very positive hsg test result and from the defeat I felt from the two miscarriages. Since that appointment was scheduled, my mind was strictly on my new teaching position since we’ve moved. Last week while we were out of state visiting family, I realized my period was late. We went to the store and got a pregnancy test and those two lines showed up rather quickly!

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?):
My spouse is an engineer and I’m a special education teacher. I have had two miscarriages, so this will be our first. We are looking forward to this peanut to arrive to us safe and healthy. We have two ragdoll cats, love to travel and explore in nature.

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)?
My boobs are extremely sensitive and sore. I am struggling with insomnia, while feeling tired, and intense gas pains. Food and drinks are starting to disgust me and nausea is knocking on the door. I’m very anxious, but am trying to stay positive and remind myself how happy I am to be pregnant! Oh— I am angry a lot of the time… or happy or tearful. But mainly angry!
  • @ccmrc143 I EPed with my third, and it was brutal! I’m a just-enougher at best with my milk supply and the formula shortage with specialty formula (ds had milk protein and soy allergies early on) had me stressing out big time! I hope to never EP again! Cheers to you for making it so long!

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it lol, my breasts (really this whole body) have already been through the ringer, so the changes shouldn’t be too impactful on my mental health! I also have focused a lot on body positivity since my first and it’s been mentally and emotionally liberating
  • Introduce yourself:
Hi everyone! My name is Amanda and I am pregnant with my first baby! (:

    Due date?
    June 8th 2023

    How did you find out?
My husband and I started to try only last month, I decided to take a precautionary test because we were going to a wedding and BAM a very clear positive! I have my first scan this Friday.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?):
My husband and I are both 27, high school sweet hearts (: and have been married for almost 3 years! This will be our first child but we do have 4 fur babies! 3 cats and just added a new puppy to the family! I am a 911 dispatcher and have been on the night shift for the past 3ish years! I am a homebody that loves the outdoors and quality time with close friends and family!

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)?
I’ve been experiencing sore breast since the day I was supposed to get my period. I also have some mild cramping, and light spotting. This past week I also had waves of nausea. I am definitely more emotional/anxious than normal and crying about the every new symptom because I don’t want there to be anything wrong.. Thankfully my husbands been a great support system!

Congrats to all the Mamas out there!

Introduce yourself: Hi Everyone! Congratulations on all of your recent pregnancies!! I’m happy to be here.

    Due date? June 12th

How did you find out? We were visiting NYC and I felt super pregnant. I did the test and the rest is history.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?):

We miscarried in July at 9 weeks so I was glad that it happened again so soon. This is our first child (other than our furbaby Golden Retriever).

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)?

I got the flu this weekend so have been better! Thankfully it’s not COVID. I’m 6 weeks tomorrow. Nervously anticipating first ultrasound. Fingers crossed….
  • @ccmrc143 I think the formula shortage saved me from a lot of criticism, but plenty of boomers in my life have told me breastfeeding/pumping for my children was dumb or even selfish, so been there!
  • @cassafrass15 @ccmrc143 I didn't have one single relative who had anything nice to say about me EPing (DS1) or breastfeeding (DS2). They were all like, are you going to stop yet?? Meanwhile my baby was like 3 months old and I was happy with our feeding relationship, hardships and all :/

@ccmrc143 I remember telling my midwife in my gut that direct bfing was NOT working for my baby and her telling me that I wouldn't be able to make it a year EPing, so if I wanted to breastfeed I needed to stick it out. It turned out later on DS1 had a weirdly rear set jaw and he just could not latch, and my instinct was right. Me making the decision to switch to pumping bottles at 2 weeks until he was 1 was one of my biggest acts of love and sacrifice (and also an in-your-face thing haha) and looking back I'm proud of every hard moment.
  • Hi!! I'm 30 years old and it's my first time being pregnant :)

    Due date?

    June 5, 2023

    How did you find out?

My husband and I got married in July, and initially had the plan of trying right away, so I bought those ovulation and pregnancy strips from Pregmate. We then changed our minds lol and wanted to try next year instead. Well that didn't work out!! My period is normally on time and was a few days late in September so I used a Pregmate strip and voila! Super happy and grateful :)

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?):

We have 2 kitties. I work in Insurance and husband is in Engineering. We like to game and go for walks!

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)?

I feel okay. Bloated, tired, sore and HUGE boobs. But so very excited for our Gemini baby :)
  • Aw @kfclife I'm so sorry for your loss, it is such a tender and awful grief. My dad died between my first and second sons in 2018. It wracks me to this day that my oldest wasn't even two when he passed, and my second (and this baby) will never get to know him.
  • @ccmrc143 hands down the most awful comments were made by medical personnel. There was a pediatrician at the first practice we went to who told me, in shock, that he noticed I had bonded with my son at all which was strange since I wasn't actually breastfeeding. One of the awful IBCLCs said "I notice you're reacting to him affectionately despite not breastfeeding". Literally implying that she thought I couldn't breastfeed because I hated my baby and couldn't bond with him. Like no lady, I love him more than anything which is why I'm putting up with your shitty judgemental comments. As if formula parents don't love their babies? Who says things like that to a new parent? Another pediatrician told me I was lazy and wasn't shoving my son's head into my nipple hard enough. I still have so much rage in my heart about how I was treated and people's awful opinions and medical malpractice ruined my breastfeeding relationship. I really wish in hindsight I never would have assumed that postpartum nurses, CNMs, lactation consultants or pediatricians would give me anything but the worst wrong advice. But I didn't know. My son had one of the most severe tongue ties the pediatric dentist had ever seen, we had it revised twice but by the time I had waded through the muck of stupidity from the providers I was seeing he was a solid bottle baby and all I wanted at that point was a normal bottle feeding experience without him losing several pounds a week or projectile vomiting up anything he managed to swallow. If I'd had less determination I would have let the first pediatrician ruin the one thing I had left, I'm glad I pushed through. I had a massive oversupply and ended up pumping and donating 800 ounces to other babies in need. I should have saved some of it and quit pumping earlier but I stuck it out every few hours all day till 15 months. I'm so proud of myself now.
  • Hi, everyone! Excited for this new journey as I'm a first time mama! I'm Erica, 30yo, and I'm from Northern NJ. Based on my LMP, my due date is June 26th, 2022 (a cancer baby, like me!) and I'm currently 4 weeks. My partner and I have been TTC since I removed my Nexplanon implant after some complications back in April, so I have been testing from 9DPO-AF due, monthly. I missed a full two days of my scheduled AF this cycle and took a test and it said, "PREGNANT!" My partner has a daughter from a previous relationship that I've been raising since she was 6 -- she's now going on 12! We're so excited to tell her and the rest of our families and bring them along this journey with us. I am a little scared and nervous as this is my first pregnancy and I'm already feeling some symptoms... mainly just some light to moderate pelvic cramping and something that feels like I pinched a nerve in my back. I am having so much trouble as I'm a very anxious person to not worry and be confident that my body will carry this pregnancy to term without complications. Any words of affirmation would be so helpful, but also please let me know if these symptoms sound concerning... I'm pretty uncomfortable with these new aches and pains. Thank you all!
  • @ericaaafiggg back pain and cramping early on is really normal, and especially if you don't have any spotting I personally wouldn't worry too much! Pregnancy is nervewracking and a truly tests my limits on calming my own anxiety daily.

Your body is your oldest and longest ally, and you can trust it! (Even when it feels like you can't)
  • @ericaaafiggg your symptoms sound very well within the umbrella of what’s normal! Glad to meet you
  • @thescarletmom thank you, it's really not something I ever expected to have to deal with. The good news is I know my baby will still have 3 very loving grandparents, but it is definitely Bittersweet
  • @kfclife my dad was the last person in the world I ever expected to get sick, let alone die young (he wasn't even 50). It wasn't on my radar at all that I and my younger siblings would have children he would never meet. And yes, my sons have many grandparents (including greats!) who love them deeply. They don't feel a loss of affection by any means.
  • @kfclife @thescarletmom I lost my dad before my kids were born. It’s hard, doesn’t really get easier. We have a club of lovely women together though don’t we ❤️
  • Hello all, and congratulations!

I'm due on June 23, so only 4w4d pregnant! I have an almost 2 year old toddler, and my husband and I recently decided to try for a second.

I am feeling cautiously excited. We were very torn on whether to try for a second, and this pregnancy will be a bit tricky due to complications from my son's birth.

Symptom-wise, I am moody, bloaty, and a bit nauseous. But mostly I am so tired! Could be the pregnancy, or could be life with a toddler!
