Maaan I don't want to be a complete Debbie Downer but I just need to put this somewhere. The saying "when it rains, it pours" could not be more true this month... 

Spoilering for length. TLDR: if something can go wrong, it will. 

We had our new washer/dryer pair delivered on Friday, ordered from Costco and came with their white glove delivery service/install and haul-away services. Great. DH was home to meet them. Claims he was "stressed" because the cat kept trying to escape and he's scared of her (lol, don't get me started) so he didn't really do a proper inspection to make sure everything was in working order. I get home, the dryer wouldn't turn on. Turns out they didn't even plug it in.

Then I excitedly throw in my first load of laundry on Saturday morning and ended up having to run out back because DH ignored my instructions not to try to clean/drain the hot tub before we had to leave for a memorial in the afternoon and instead of just scrubbing it and draining it like we planned, he decided to throw in some of the cleaner which immediately created an alarming amount of bubbles. It should have been comical, if not for his utter panic and my annoyance. *Note the reason we had to drain the hot tub was because he didn't completely flush out all the cleaner last time so it would never get clean/stop foaming. Why the guy thought he had to add MORE is beyond me. Anyway, the neighbour asked if we were having a foam party, it was a mess. I sent him inside to get the pump and he went in to find that it was raining in the furnace room. Our washer flooded. 

I call our Dads in a panic, go upstairs to start mopping, left DH in the backyard to deal with FoamGate. Dads show up, we pull out the dryer together, find out the guys not only didn't plug in the dryer, they didn't even put the drain hose in the drain pipe so it was just dangling from the machine pouring the water on the floor from the rinse cycle. Then they reversed the hot/cold water intake, and didn't plug the machine into the right outlets so they were on the wrong circuit. Got that all cleaned up, luckily no visible damage, hopefully nothing rots anywhere that we can't see. 

Fast forward to Monday, my mom tests positive for Covid (again), we had been with her all weekend. Great. DH goes golfing, gets hit by a huge rock that fell off the back of a dump truck, windshield cracks all the way across. I already have a stone chip in my windshield from 3 weeks ago that has yet to be fixed. I went to work, came home, sat through two boring meetings from 6-9pm, did more laundry, etc etc. Go to get ready for bed, no hot water. Go check the hot water tank, it's flashing a warning for the flammable vapor sensor failure. Tried calling the 24/7 line for our HVAC people, no answer, never returned my VM. Thankfully they came out today and were able to fix it, said it was likely water damage from our washer flood.

For the love of god can this be it pls? I'm tired, and stressed. And my back hurts. 

ETA: My mom doesn't actually have Covid, she's just a dummy and didn't know that the control line does not equal positive, so her tests all along have actually been negative. She's super embarrassed about that lol.

I'm definitely benched this month, but I am still poking around. Had to take a mental health break, but I'm still around and learning more about how my cycle works by Paying Attention and tracking things. I hope everyone is doing well.

omg @kiki047 that is all just insane. i dunno if i'm allowed to say this but good job not strangling yr husband when you found out he added more cleaner to the hot tub. also wtf with the washer/dryer install. did they like intentionally do everything as wrong as possible?

@optimistgardener I was hysterical, and spun out somewhere between laughter and rage, so I took an Ativan and gave myself a time out inside while he panicked outside. I felt bad after for overreacting because it's not like it was hurting anyone but C'MON MAN. I'll PM you a picture lol.

@kiki047 OMG that is.... nuts. i am a big fan of adult time outs, i would've needed the same. did costco take any responsibility for it?

@kiki047 Oh man, that is too much! I’m glad it didn’t cause any major damage! We had an appliance flooding issue (dishwasher) back in February and it is finally getting fixed this week. They are essentially replacing the whole kitchen, water got into all the lower cabinets and into the sub flooring, leaked all the way into the basement 😡

@anniemarie887 tbh I haven't had a chance to report it yet, I'm still trying to compose myself and gather all of the relevant pieces of information to be able to properly go after them. I'm just hoping this is all of it and nothing else will go awry. 
@maggiemadeit I think we got off easy this time, our last flood started in our master bath, leaked down through the kitchen ceiling, behind the fridge, down the main staircase and into the basement. Was tens of thousands of dollars of damage and took months to complete due to material shortages, etc. I'm so happy for you that it's finally getting fixed. 


I'm happy to report that the rest of yesterday was much better - went home, made a yummy dinner with DH, made a big batch of soup for my sick Mom (link to follow), hopped on the Peloton, went in the (newly cleaned) hot tub for the first time this year, had some romance with DH, and a good night's sleep. I feel like a new person today. 

@optimistgardener since you asked about soup, this one was very comforting and yummy. It was essentially a cream of mushroom base but with some nice seasonal veggies in it. DH loved it.
