Baby is the size of a(n): artichoke
Team blue/pink/green: blue
Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan tomorrow! 💙
How are you feeling?: Pretty good, but I did have a super fun time at my general practitioner today. He heard an arrhythmia so I had to have an EKG. It’s nothing, just premature atrial contractions that are common in pregnancy, but it was definitely a little bit of extra excitement today.
Rants/Raves: I’m just very excited to see the ultrasounds tomorrow. It’s been 6 weeks since we’ve had any appointments, so having the full anatomy scan is going to be such a relief and so exciting.
Questions: none today
GTKY: Hi ladies! As we have a pretty quiet board, so I thought I'd ask a few more GTKY questions for fun! Answer what you feel like 😊
1. What is your ideal pizza? Pepperoni, pineapple, and jalapeño peppers. Not a pregnancy thing, it’s a controversial combo my roommates and I first tried in grad school and it’s stuck as a favorite for all 3 of us.
2. If you could change your career, no questions asked, what would you change it to? I can’t imagine doing anything else ❤️ Maybe physician or public health or science educator, but nothing far from what I already do.
3. What are you looking forward to the most during your pregnancy? Being done 😅 I know some people enjoy pregnancy and the process, but I can’t say that I’m one of those people. I’m just impatient to meet our little guy.
Baby is the size of a(n): Artichoke
2. If you could change your career, no questions asked, what would you change it to? — I would focus on painting, crafting, and other hands-on creative things that I could sell.
3. What are you looking forward to the most during your pregnancy? — I agree with @fertile-turtle. I'm looking forward to not being pregnant and meeting this little guy. I do not enjoy being pregnant. It feels like it's been forever, and I'm not even half-way there.
Baby is the size of a(n): avacado
Team blue/pink/green: pink
Upcoming Appointments: had one today. In 5 weeks, I have my ultrasound!
How are you feeling?: good...just dealing with some gut issues still
Rants/Raves: I'm trying to maneuver my way around not eating eggs, peanuts, almond, cashew, wheat, or milk and it's a pain in the butt. I discovered the perfect ice cream that didn't have any of that but the saturated fat is triggering my gallbladder. 😭
Questions: none today
1. What is your ideal pizza? Pineapple, jalapeno, Canadian bacon, artichoke on thin crust.
2. If you could change your career, no questions asked, what would you change it to? I wouldn't change being a stay at home mom/homemaker. But my second choice or maybe someday would be some type of counselor... possibly working with drug addicts or in the mental health field or with incarcerated women like what I went to school for basically. It's a part of what I do anyway even if I don't get paid for it. ☺️
3. What are you looking forward to the most during your pregnancy? I'm totally done with pregnancy too after over 4 years of it 😜. I just want the baby
1. What is your ideal pizza?
I love a good crispy thin crust pizza. For toppings, I love the fresh stuff the best- pesto, fresh basil, kalamata olives, goat cheese. Yummy 🤤
2. If you could change your career, no questions asked, what would you change it to?
I have recently been working with my husband on really doing this finally, but I think I’m moving forward with training in nursing! I have a Bachelor’s in a non-medical field, so I’m looking at accelerated BSN programs. Feels right ❤️❤️❤️
3. What are you looking forward to the most during your pregnancy?
I’m excited to see a baby boy this time- just cool and this will probably be our only little boy. I’m also excited to not be working in my parent’s bicycle shop during this pregnancy- the only baby who won’t be born with bike tire smell already built into his brain, lol.
@cpk3535 Thanks for getting us started this week! Also, the "bike tire smell" is so evocative 😂 I know just what you mean. Nursing sounds great; good luck! I also hope you feel better an can sort those hives. That sucks.
@fertile-turtle Yikes on the surprise EKG but I'm glad they looked into it right away and all is well.
@seeds_of_joy Good luck on the ice cream quest! It sounds really challenging.
@karbaud I have no idea when I'll buy things as I already have stuff from the older kids but I'm happy with second-hand so I will probably start early so there's time to find the few things I want on FB marketplace/ eBay etc. Black Friday and post-Christmas sales will happen during our pregnancies so that's useful, too.
EDD / Weeks + Days: 16w6d/ Feb 16th
1. What is your ideal pizza? Either a plain old Margherita or a Margherita with artichoke hearts. I'm surprised how many of us are into the artichokes!
2. If you could change your career, no questions asked, what would you change it to? I'm actually very happy with my job (university teacher), and got an email from a student just this morning that read "Thanks for creating a space for real personal growth." I mean, how satisfying is that? But if I did something different it would be related to helping others either through psychology, financial planning or as a doula 😁 I know those seem rather random but they are things I love to do to help support the people around me so it makes sense to me.
3. What are you looking forward to the most during your pregnancy? I appear to be in the minority but I quite like being pregnant (this is round 3). I'm looking forward to being able to feel movement more consistently and for my partner and older kids to feel it. The eldest was too young to remember when I was pregnant with his sister and this is my partner's first so it will be really special for all of them
1. What is your ideal pizza?
hawaiian. I 💜 pineapple on pizza.
2. If you could change your career, no questions asked, what would you change it to?
being a stay at home mom is literally the best and I wouldn’t change it. But if I had to choose a career I wouldn’t go back to teaching I would go into marine biology
3. What are you looking forward to the most during your pregnancy? I love all the milestones.
1. What is your ideal pizza? I am just a plan Jane. My favorite is gold fever though, it's a mix of honey mustard and bbq sauce.
2. If you could change your career, no questions asked, what would you change it to? I am a travel agent on the side, and I would love to have that build up enough for it to be my full time job. My fellow agents who do only that are able to travel so often and to amazing places, and I really want that life.
3. What are you looking forward to the most during your pregnancy? Feeling more consistent movement. At my NT scan I am pretty sure they mentioned that I have an anterior placenta so while I have felt some movement, it's not consistent at this point and I really look forward to that. DS wants to feel the baby kick too, so that is another reason I am really looking forward to it.

1. What is your ideal pizza? I love pineapple and pepperoni. Otherwise all the veggies minus mushrooms because I hate mushrooms.
2. If you could change your career, no questions asked, what would you change it to? I worked so hard to become a social worker and it’s really my ideal job.
3. What are you looking forward to the most during your pregnancy? More baby movement! Baby was moving so much when they used the Doppler you could hear it. But I’m not really feeling much. It helps so much with my anxiety.
EDD / Weeks + Days: February 14 / 17 weeks & 2 days
Rave: I had a really great weekend! On Friday we (my two best friends, my mom, and my fiancé) had a “French” night, where we had fondue and French food and watched Beauty and the Beast and Sunday FSU beat LSU!
Rant: Nothing fits. I’m too big for my clothes but I’m not sure I’m quite maternity wear ready. I feel so awkward in my body. If you know I’m pregnant you can look at me and tell, but if you don’t know I probably just look like I’m packing on some pounds!
2. If you could change your career, no questions asked, what would you change it to? I think it would be so cool to be an interior decorator!
3. What are you looking forward to the most during your pregnancy? I’m really excited for my next ultrasound. I love getting to see him!
Rant: I saw my midwife at the end of last week and it didn’t go well. We seem to be struggling with communication and she doesn’t seem to know how to support me. Nor does she seem like she was in a state that was great to provide support. She seemed tired and burnt out and can I blame her? She has delivered 25 babies in the past month. I came out of the appointment anxious and panicked because she addressed my blood glucose issue (which I knew might be a problem) but lacked giving me a deeper understanding from an ob perspective or reassurance on how to move forward.
One of my new local mom friends recommended that I follow nutritionist Lily Nichols for gestational diabetes guidance on eating. Her book helped de-escalate my anxiety to find a more nuanced way forward dealing with my blood glucose issues and a deeper understanding about why there are more stringent parameters with blood sugar control in pregnancy when compared to the primary care setting which I am more familiar with.
Another Rave: I met with my pelvic physical therapist for the first time today and I loved her! I learned so much, the assessment and treatment was so gentle. I have exercises to focus on to prepare my pelvic floor for labor and deliver and that helps me feel more confident and empowered.
1. What is your ideal pizza? The best pizza I ever ate was a Margarita pizza in Florence, Italy where the crust was the right balance of crispness and chewiness with a tangy sweet tomato sauce, gooey mozzarella and fresh aromatic basil. It’s such a simple pizza but it’s difficult to find it done well.
2. If you could change your career, no questions asked, what would you change it to? I really love what I do as an Integrative/ Functional Medicine Family Nurse Practitioner where I combine complimentary alternative medicine and conventional medicine to help optimize health and well-being with my patients.
As far as potential career changes, I’ve toyed with the idea of becoming a healthcare administrator mostly because I’m upset with the state of the US healthcare system where patients do not get the care they deserve and healthcare workers are increasingly not given supportive work environments.
3. What are you looking forward to the most during your pregnancy? This is my first pregnancy and I don’t know what to look forward to most. I don’t love nor hate my experience but I do approach my first pregnancy with a lot of curiosity and wonderment. I look forward to feeling my baby’s movement and it’s birthday where we discover the gender.
EDD / Weeks + Days: 16+3
Possibly white pizza with rosemary and potatoes!
I'm not sure I actually wanted to. I essentially just did, and it's only been a week but I love it. But ok, some times I think I should have done something a bit more action-ey with big water and high intensitet. Like a coast guard or something!
For it to be over, thb. I don't love being pregnant. Especially not when starting a new job!
Raves: Grateful for my husband's partnership as we navigate a high risk pregnancy together. We've been through a lot after losing our first two pregnancies and an emergency c-section with severe postpartum preeclampsia last time. I'm really thankful for the self-care routine I have this time. I had my first prenatal massage today.
1. What is your ideal pizza? Chicken, BBQ sauce, banana peppers, purple onion, mozzarella.
2. If you could change your career, no questions asked, what would you change it to? A nurse or a teacher
3. What are you looking forward to the most during your pregnancy? Being done and at peace in the postpartum period once I'm in the clear for preeclampsia. I have been so nauseous up until now and I do not enjoy pregnancy.
