Team blue/pink/green: find out Wednesday for sure! And I’ll be shocked if it isn’t a boy
Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan Wednesday
How are you feeling?: this pregnancy is SO different from my first. I honestly loved being pregnant with my son but this time I just feel fat and tired and hormonal lmao my husbands side of the family has an ongoing joke they only make boys and the sneak peek test we did said boy so I’ll be shock if it IS a girl, however I do have a tiny bit of doubt in the back of my mind because of how different these pregnancies have been!
Rants/Raves: I booked a mini spa get away with my mom the second weekend of September nd we are staying at a nice hotel doing some shopping and getting pampered! I can not wait!
Questions: anyone else low key loathing being pregnant haha
GTKY: What are you looking forward to the most once baby is earth-side? this will be our last baby and so I am looking forward to just soaking up all the newborn goodness with a little more experience! I am hoping I’ll enjoy it a little more than I did with my first as it will be my last!
How are you feeling?: supppeerrrr emotional. Like way over the top emotional, which I’ll probably bring up at my visit next week to maybe up my Zoloft dose?
Rants/Raves: rant, my OB sent me a bill which looks like they didn’t run anything through insurance. I’ve tried to call all day but the phone lines are down, I feel like I spent so much time last month confirming I could be seen there through my insurance and they just didn’t even listen to me. I even made sure to reiterate it at my last appointment (THIS insurance is primary not that one)
Questions:
GTKY: What are you looking forward to the most once baby is earth-side? Honestly this may sound weird but I’m excited to just be done and enjoy our completed family. She’s it, we are done, and I can’t wait to enjoy all those moments and ‘lasts’ even though I’ll probably be sad in the moment.
How are you feeling?: Physically ok. Mentally having a downer of a week. It’s probably just typical for pregnancy mood swings, or so I hope, but having family members with bipolar and bpd it’s hard not to worry about the up and down.
Rants/Raves: Nothing remarkable this week.
Questions: I’ve been spoiled all summer working just part-time from home, but the concert season is about to start after Labor Day. That means hour+ drives both ways, late night rehearsals and shows, 12-14 hour days when changing theaters. I’m worried about old habits of skipping meals and not hydrating enough in that environment, not to mention the stress. Any tips from you ladies to get back in the swing of things while still taking care of myself?
GTKY: What are you looking forward to the most once baby is earth-side? I guess the everything? I’m excited to see him, to hold him, to see his dad’s face when he holds him. Even when I swore I didn’t want kids, I’d occasionally picture it, and I’ve always always pictured the toddler years more than anything else, so maybe I’m most excited to see him grow and become a tiny person with his own thoughts and personality.
@thankfullyamama Ooo, a spa weekend sounds so nice. Pregnancy can be so hard. This time around I feel good so far, but with DS I was desperate for him to come out toward the end and could hardly walk.
@footdrbritt Ugh, that sounds incredibly frustrating. I hope it gets sorted.
@cc_clark I’m not working this pregnancy but with DS I was working full time. I didn’t commute but my best advice would be to keep water and snacks readily available as best you can and give yourself grace.
EDD / Weeks + Days: 18w2d
Baby is the size of a(n): bell pepper?
Team blue/pink/green: pink
Upcoming Appointments: 9/8 with OB
How are you feeling?: Other than being tired feeing good. I agree with other posters that every pregnancy is different. Thankful not to have terrible reflux this time around (at least not yet).
Rants/Raves: DS turned three yesterday so we spent the last two days celebrating. Can’t believe how time flies. I also had an anatomy scan yesterday with MFM and she was looking good. She was measuring 82nd percentile so we’ll see if she starts to trend big like DS.
Questions: I know we have a name thread, but are most people pretty decided on name? We are not even close over here. We don’t really have front runners.
GTKY: What are you looking forward to the most once baby is earth-side? Seeing her and holding her.
@zamoraspin I'm excited for the beyond yoga leggings, and while I don't usually love gap, I'm a fan of the sweaters and tees I got as none have the ruching on the sides and look a lot better than some of what I bought last time.
Upcoming Appointments: I just had an OB appt yesterday and then my MFM appt for my anatomy scan on Friday.
How are you feeling?: Ready to have my anatomy scan! Everything has looked good so far, so hoping it all looks good!
Rants/Raves: I finally made my first purchase for the baby, which is her name and some paper flowers to put on the wall. Still trying to figure out what all we need to get so I can space the purchases out. Thankfully we still have some stuff leftover from our daughter.
Questions: None right now
GTKY: What are you looking forward to the most once baby is earth-side? Seeing how my other two interact with her.
@footdrbritt Ugh I'm sorry that sounds so awful! I hope they get it straightened out for you.
@cc_clark Pregnancy can definitely be full of mood swings and make you emotional. Maybe get checked out by your doctor if you are worried about it though? I just got a water bottle that has like the lines on it with the times of day and you are supposed to drink that much water by a certain time. Hopefully that makes sense. But it has helped me stay better hydrated.
@zamoraspin We are decided on our name. I like deciding early just because I feel like it helps me connect better. I am also excited to not be dealing with reflux right now. I had it bad with my last two pregnancies.
How are you feeling?: Had my first Braxton-Hicks contraction last night at 3am. 😳 I woke up in a panic, really thrown off by the fact that the pain was only in my left side as I was expecting more centralized pain. Fortunately, I had just read about them yesterday so I didn’t freak out after they passed. Made me very nervous for unmediated birth but it was a good indicator that I most definitely need to train my mind for the real deal.
Rants/Raves: Raving about DH who immediately attended to me as best he could.
Questions: I googled it and sounds like BH contractions on the side is normal at this time. Anyone can confirm with experience?
GTKY: Everything! The highs and the lows. Can’t wait to hold her and see DH hold her and interact with her.
Upcoming Appointments: Had one this morning, next one is Sept. 21
How are you feeling?: still moody as hell, and I keep misinterpreting every single sentence DH utters in ways that make me seem like the world’s most raging b*tch. Physically, I took an odd turn for the worse this week for the first time in months! Up sick half the night, insomnia, and now a weird, mild rash on my face. Whoever said pregnancy was beautiful can kiss my .@$$.
Rants/Raves: A rave, my best friend lived across the country for the past decade and she’s just moved back to the same state I’m in! She’s an anesthesiologist and does epidurals every day, so having her around is just such a huge gift, especially since my family isn’t in the picture. I feel very, very lucky to have her, and I’m trying to focus on that no matter how moody I am.
Questions: Is anyone else planning to formula feed? I know it’s a personal decision but I feel like everyone’s asking me lately about breastfeeding and I just don’t have the patience to explain why I’ll be taking the formula route. Just hoping to commiserate.
GTKY: What are you looking forward to the most once baby is earth-side? Honestly, just learning whether or not she’s ok. DH has two siblings with disabilities, plus a few medical challenges himself, and I have a few challenges as well. This whole time, I’ve been terrified of what will be passed on. Knowing for sure what this little girl is dealing with, whatever it is or isn’t, will be a huge relief. Hopefully that doesn’t come off the wrong way—I just want to stop worrying.
@jesofthenorth so intrusive that people are asking you about breastfeeding, I don't recall anyone asking my first pregnancy and I didn't say anything either way. Your baby will be fed and that's all that matters. You get judged if you formula feed, you get judged for nursing in front of anyone, moms can't win either way.
@willrunforcookies right?! I’m going to start getting ridiculous about it. The standard answer to questions like that should be, “I’m going to feed my baby! So much! I’m going to feed the HECK out of this baby!” Served with ample eye rolls and sarcasm.
@jesofthenorth I HATE that question! I just don’t see why that’s relevant information outside of your partner and your care team. It makes sense for a dr to ask, but literally no one else should feel comfortable being so candid about it imo.
I’ve said we’ll see. I just don’t feel the need to pressure myself if it’s not working well. I know that I was formula fed as a newborn, and I think I turned out ok 😅
Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan and follow up on Sept. 12
How are you feeling?: still pretty moody and tired. I have no energy to do anything.
Rants/Raves: n/a
Questions: has anyone else experienced bleeding after sex? I know that's kinda personal but the last couple of times when we have finished, there has been some blood. This is kinda freaking me out but I still have a couple of weeks until I can ask my doctor about it.
GTKY: What are you looking forward to the most once baby is earth-side? I am so excited to see my 2 year old meet the newest baby.
How are you feeling?: Much better today! Had to repeat the anatomy scan due to baby’s position and inability to see the heart, so feeling much better after getting that all straightened out!!
Rants/Raves: I started a new job this week, which I was stressed about at this point due to being pregnant! After a few days I am so confident and happy with my decision, feeling good!!
Questions: anyone else still not look “noticeably pregnant”? No one else knows at my new job currently beside my new boss. Not sure when they will figure it out!!
GTKY: What are you looking forward to the most once baby is earth-side? Bringing some much needed happiness and good news into my family!
Upcoming Appointments: Had anatomy scan Tuesday and regular prenatal visit today; follow-up fetal echo on September 21 (more on that below)
How are you feeling?: Great! Soooo tired due to DD's new school schedule (much less flexible now that she is in Kindergarten and HAS to be there on time ), but otherwise great. Feeling big! About how big I looked with DD at like 7 months...
Rants/Raves: Life has been crazy with the semester starting, teaching a new-to-me course with really high enrollment, and DD starting Kindergarten. Sorry I haven't been able to participate as much as I'd like to! Rave: She absolutely LOVES K so far, which is a huge relief because she was hating preschool by the end. And a nurse at the hospital today told me in passing in the hallway that I was the cutest pregnant person ever, which made my day
Questions: Based on the anatomy scan, it's possible that baby has a persistent left superior vena cava (essentially an extra blood vessel in the heart as I understand it). It doesn't seem too serious but we'll get a fetal echo to find out more. Has anyone dealt with this or something similar? Trying not to go down a rabbit hole, although so far Dr. Google hasn't been TOO scary... It's also possible that it's nothing because they couldn't get the best image--we apparently have the world's wiggliest baby who would not.stop.moving the whole time.
GTKY: What are you looking forward to the most once baby is earth-side? Finding out the sex at birth, seeing DH with the baby in the early days (it was so sweet and special to see last time), and getting to see DD become a big sister
@jessicadmillard bleeding a little after sex a little bit is completely normal! Your cervix is highly vascular during pregnancy and for lack of better words penetration can irritate it lol but if it is bright red in large amounts and lasts for a few days you should def get checked out! Opt for less “deep penetration positions” if it’s freaking you out and you should be good!
