There have been plenty of registry related questions, and I have no shortage of them, does anyone have an issue with me starting a dedicated registry thread?
GTKY: I wanted to be a veterinarian as a kid, but maybe I'll 'retire' early and go to vet school. I ended up in a medical related field and am happy with my job, plus I don't get bit and I don't have to deal with the public.
@willrunforcookies ooh, yes please! I would love to see what others are thinking or struggling with for their registry. It feels so overwhelming at times!
GTKY: I always wanted to be a writer. I was a bookworm at a young age and used to “doodle” sentences on the sides of my notes in school. I ended up in video production, initially being interested in screenwriting, and then fully stumbling into a niche for live event production particularly for music. Maybe in my downtime (I know, ha!) with baby boy, I’ll pick up the habit of writing again since I won’t be back in a directors chair for a little while once he’s here.
@willrunforcookies yes, a registry thread would be great! I’m currently deep into finalizing mine and need all the insight I can get.
GTKY: I was sure I wanted to be a doctor from the age of 4 to 21! Then I completed a graduate program on medical humanities and compassionate care and realized I was meant for a different path of healthcare. Happy to have found my calling in mental health care!
Registry thread would be great. I have an Amazon one on the go and it’s pretty helpful reminding me of all the small things I probably need and never thought about lol.
I got my COVID booster yesterday and feel pretty awful today so just laying in bed and drinking all the fluids.
Anyone travelled out of the country while pregnant? My midwife is giving me all my prenatal information in a folder, and I got extra travel insurance should something happen to me/baby while I’m away but anything else I should be doing/packing? We leave in three weeks and I can’t wait to not have to clean or cook!
GTKY: I always thought I would be a marine biologist or an Astronaught. However high school math quickly showed me it wasn’t likely to happen lol.
Anyone have any good ideas for where to find formal maternity dresses that aren’t matronly? We have three weddings to go to this fall and I’m determined to look and feel as much like my usual self as possible (with a basketball belly, obviously) and all the dresses I’ve found so far are, shall we say, very Little House On The Prairie. 😂 TIA!
GTKY: I wanted to be a writer and illustrator. I ended up working as a journalist at the beginning of my career, then moved into MarComm so I could do design work, too. Whenever I start to hate social media and digital marketing, I remember that I’m still, in some small ways, making my childhood self pretty darn proud.
@jesofthenorth have you checked Pink Blush? They have a huge assortment and I had good luck with their dresses (and clothes) last time. ETA I also know others who have had good luck with Asos and Thredup for maternity in general, might be worth checking for dresses.
@anniez85 I previously traveled to Europe mid 2nd tri, if you're flying long distance try getting up frequently, an aisle seat was key. I honestly didn't pack or do anything different from when not pregnant. Where are you going? Have a great vacation!
Same; travelled from Dubai to NY in 2nd trimester (same for first pregnancy; even up until 28 weeks) with no issues.
This time since I’m older, my OB suggested a shot to prevent blood clots (although I have no other complications, and already taking aspirin per her advice).
Long distance travel tips: 1) drink lots of water 2) move around a lot 3) optionally, wear compression socks to avoid swelling. 4) check with your OB first.
I wanted to be a marine biologist SO BAD, even took classes in college and had my major be Biology with double minors in Ecology, evolution, organism biology / genetics because I really couldn’t choose between medicine and that.
Eventually I realized I would be happy stuck in a lab or not working with the animals I wanted to so medicine was where I went!
I am like 99% sure my DD has enlarged adenoids and sleep apnea which is causing his prolonged hourly wakes but the good old Canadian healthcare system is failing us both and I feel bad for my tired little boy and my tired self haha one more attempt to beg for an ENT referral this Thursday and if they shut us down I’m going to travel to the states and pay out of pocket because this is just ridiculous.
I wanted to be a doctor when I was a child, I am a RN and actually got into a masters degree and PHD program but ultimately decided to not pursue either. I am very grateful I did not as I am very happy in my career!
