Using infant seat til 30lbs?

It drives me nuts when I see people lugging around an infant carrier with a huge kid in it, but using it until they are 30lbs?!  DD will probably not even be 30lbs when she is 2!  That's just nuts.

(I saw someone say they are using the infant carrier until their ds reached the 30lb max. on another board.)

    Hopefully they're also complying with the height max... I know DS;s graco safeseat went to 30lbs and 32 inches... he has surpassed it in height, but is no where near it for weight.  I certainly wouldn't use it even if he was within the height max.

    I can't imagine still having dd in her infant seat. She is 25lbs and probably won't be 30 before her 2nd bday either! Ditto pp, hopefully they are following the height max on it as well.

    I am pretty sure I could still have DD in her infant seat.  She is well under the weight limit.  As far as the height, I think she still has an inch before she would be over that.

    It does look silly to see a child with legs several inches past the bottom and a parent barely able to carry the seat.

    Then again after DS reached 15-16lbs along with the seat it was heavy enough I left it in the car.

    I used the infant seat until 22-23 mos.  Until then my daughter fell asleep in the car and I hated to wake her up just to drop a bill off or something like that.  Plus she will be rear facing as long as she can and she fit why not use it.  I did not carry her in it all the time maybe 1-2 times a month. and those days it went right in to the stroller.  We also had 3 cars so it helped so we did not have to buy 3 car seats.  My dd out grew the safe seat in height around 22-23 mos at that time she was only 25.5 lbs right now she is 29.5 lbs
