Re: August Symptoms

  • Is anybody else getting to that annoying phase where you feel like you can’t quite pee everything in your bladder out? I experienced this last pregnancy (I think emphasized by my stupid tilted/backwards uterus) and I had to get in the habit of leaning over while sitting on the toilet after I felt done going to the bathroom, pressing my arms into my gut and usually leaked out just a little bit more urine. 🙄

Also, still not feeling great stomach-wise. 🤢 I hope this wraps up soon!!!
  • @cpk3535 I actually noticed that just last night that I needed to do that already. I’m prone to UTIs (already had one a couple weeks ago this pregnancy…), so the leaning forward to make sure bladder is completely empty is something I also have to make sure to do. Ugh.

After a good two weeks, my nausea is back HARD the last two days. 😭 Not sure if it’s the nausea combined with smell sensitivity making it so bad, or what, but lots of dry heaving and hard to find something to eat past about noon.

  • I've been battling digestive issues for a few months. They've gotten better (I was able to eat again by the time I got pregnant). But something is acting up again and I think the pregnancy is triggering it. So I made an appointment at a wellness center to get to the bottom of it. They will do a lot of bloodwork and test me for allergies and hormonal issues. It's a very diet based place. So I'm thinking if they help me figure out what foods make it worse, I'll be able to heal my gut before my uterus gets big and starts bumping into whatever hurts.

  • @runningyogimama I second the nausea returning with a vengeance- what’s up with that??? I’m at like 12W today, shouldn’t this be winding down??

@seeds_of_joy Sorry to hear about your digestive discomfort. What’s your normal issue if you don’t mind sharing? I hope they can solve it for you.❤️

Had to have blood drawn today- a LOT of blood. That didn’t help the woozy nausea either. But hey, I’ll get some big test results soon, including baby gender- woohoo!
  • @cpk3535 I don't even know. I was going to the doctor to find out in May right after I miscarried. They originally suspected an ulcer.  I got a bad feeling when they skipped a lot of tests and did an ultrasound to check my gallbladder. I do have gallbladder sludge but I don't think that's the main cause of my initial pain. They wanted me to go to a surgeon to get a test. Basically...I think they wanted to remove my gallbladder and I think that would just screw up my digestion even more. So I had scheduled an appointment at a more natural place and ended up cancelling because I was doing much better. Well I rescheduled it so hoping this will give me direction and not make me high risk. If I'm high risk, I can't deliver at home. I think maybe I do have gallbladder issues now which can be caused by pregnancy...and having 10 that would make sense. Plus I lost a bit of weight fast when I was sick and that could also cause the sludge. Sorry for the long answer.

  • @seeds_of_joy No worries, I like details. I’ve never heard much about gallbladder problems, I’ll have to look this up!! I think I have liver issues caused by years of medication that’s not good on the liver, and it started flaring up quite a bit last pregnancy for me. Pregnancies put so much pressure on our bodies, it exaggerates everything, especially as we get older. I hope the holistic/natural docs can find something to help!

  • @cpk3535 I think healing foods can do a lot for us if we just give it time. It's hard because there's so much garbage food and hard to avoid it.

I hope your liver is all healed up and stays good this time around!

  • @seeds_of_joy 10 years ago I had gallbladder symptoms and I knew my options with conventional medicine was a low fat diet or surgery. So I started looking for alternatives. I found a healer who practiced combination homeopathy and acupuncture. By assessing my meridians, she figured out which homeopathic remedies to give me. I took her remedies for a month and I was healed. I haven’t had gallbladder issues since then! I know a lot of people poo-poo homeopathy because it doesn’t make scientific sense but it worked for me. It doesn’t hurt to try. At the worse, it will hurt the pocket book and do nothing. At the best, it might actually solve your problem!

  • @ttc3y I definitely am one to try homeopathic or natural remedies before conventional. Do you remember what you took exactly? I've been trying a variety of natural remedies that help somewhat like an ox bile probiotic and tumeric capsules. But I think something I eat is triggering it specifically..I don't think it's just fat either. It seems to be certain things with fat and anything with additives... possibly sugar too. The place I'm going to somehow finds all your temporary allergies through bloodwork so that will hopefully help. I have an awesome chiropractor but haven't tried acupuncture yet.

@seeds_of_joy I hope you figure it out and get some relief! Gallbladder pain is no joke and no fun!! Another perspective - I dealt with gallbladder flare ups for 5 years, had to stop eating meat again (was a vegetarian at various times), and it got so excruciating that I was eating literally just crackers by the time I finally got someone to do a HIDA scan 5 years and many complaints do doctors later, and I couldn’t run without crying because it hurt so much. The scan showed like 16% gallbladder function. There was literally no way that adjusting my diet to control symptoms, which is what I tried for years, would ever give complete relief or let me lead a normal life - my gallbladder was not functioning, and needed to come out. My only regret is not getting it removed 5 years sooner! I’ve never had issues eating anything since, and I cried when I was cleared to run and could run without any pain - I can’t believe I put up with the pain for so long for the sake of avoiding surgery (I didn’t want the $$$ honestly, and had also never had surgery before ever).

@runningyogimama that is encouraging to know that you haven't had problems since! I will keep that in mind if diet and suppliments don't help.

    Do hida scans hurt?
  • @seeds_of_joy Not the actual scan - the scan was like a vacation, lol. They start an IV, have you drink a high fat Ensure type drink, then you lay on a table (not in an MRI machine or anything - it’s like an X-ray thing over you), and I watched Friends on TV for a couple of hours (a nice mom vacation 😅). My gallbladder was in such bad shape by that point, I was in pain from the Ensure drink later that day, though, but definitely worth it for answers! I don’t know why the doctors were so hesitant to do it - I guess cost?

  • @runningyogimama I was actually advised to have one. But it turns out you can't have one if you're pregnant. I just looked it up.

  • @seeds_of_joy Hopefully you can figure something out for the pain for the time being, then! With my last pregnancy, I stopped eating meat and that helped, and also almost processed food, but each thing I cut out only ended up helping for so long. I got mine out when my third was about 1 year old.

  • @seeds_of_joy I never found out which homeopathic remedies she gave me. She was one of a kind type of healer. I don’t think I know anyone else who can do what she can do. If you are in the southwest, I’m happy to share her info. But there are a lot of naturopaths who do homeopathy that might be able to help you. I know ox bile is commonly used to help with gallbladder health but I don’t know if it is safe to use during pregnancy. Again, I think a naturopath maybe able to help you navigate that one as well, especially one who helps take care of pregnant people. I hope you find a solution. Gallbladder pain sucks. I definitely don’t miss it.
  • @ttc3y I'm in the Midwest but I have high hopes about the place I'll be going to because they are definitely not conventional. Thank you!! Thanks all for your wisdom ❤️

  • Did anyone elses symptoms improve yet? My nausea is completely gone, headache nearly gone again and I managed to get through a full day today without napping at all. Pregnancy almost starts to get pleasant :D It's been replaced with nasal congestion and seeing stars when I stand up, and I still feel out of breath, but compared to the weeks of exhaustion and nausea it's become an absolute walk in the park!

  • @justkp My nausea is mostly gone 11 1/2 weeks. It usually is by now for me. I still feel a little queasy when I'm hungry and in evening. Exhausted today.
    justkpcpk3535
  • The exhaustion might also have gone mainly because it's weekend and I could sleep in this morning  :D Will have to notice monday. But it definitely seems better! Great to be rid of the nausea though - couple weeks back I thought it would never end!

  • 11 weeks seems to be the week of Fatigue. I seriously take a nap every chance I get and I’m still struggling to stay awake past 8pm!

Same here! Nausea is starting to abate, but fatigue has gone back to Week 4 levels. That was the week I fell asleep during on-camera meetings… oops.
    kristinl492
  • @asinger6 lol! I’ve been taking post-lunch naps at work, when the schedule allows. I work in a hospital so there’s a nice uncomfy stretcher for me to lay on for 20 minutes and try to come back to life.
  • Oh my goodness, my nausea is FINALLY getting better. My OB had me on two medications. I couldn't keep food down and I was losing weight. Everything made me nausea... even soap! Today 12 week and 3 days FINALLY I can tolerate soap! I was able to wash the dishes without a mask! Oh yeah, even moving was difficult because it made me throw up. I was able to move around the house for more than 5 minutes without the nausea! I still smell everything but I am not throwing up. So I am super happy to start living a normal life! I can finally eat and keep it down 🙌🏼 😊 Awwwww it feels so good I could cry🥰

  • Lately I'm really sick of making dinner that I don't even want to eat it. My morning sickness is better but all of a sudden around 4:00 I want to check out instead of make dinner, eat it, and clean up the mess. I was nasty about it last night too. Lol Glad I have a large family to feed but sometimes I wish I could just go to bed.
    kristinl492cpk3535
  • @seeds_of_joy it’s beeen rare for me to make dinner these days. It’s been lots of convenience foods or leftovers or cereal for dinner 🤷🏼‍♀️. Or my husband cooks but he works long hours so that doesn’t always happen. I have neither the energy or the appetite to cook. Survival mode lol

  • I think I'm experiencing SPD? I'm not sure my o never had any of these symptoms with my daughter. I can only explain it as feeling like the bone under my vagina (pubis? Idk) is pulling apart. It's worse in the evenings or if I've been standing a lot. Also getting pain all the way up the my tail bone and my hips, and a little in my low back. Hoping my chiropractor can help some! And also hoping this doesn't get worse.
  • @nwshay sounds like it. It has started earlier for me with every pregnancy.  Unfortunately mine gets progressively worse. Let’s hope the chiropractor helps you.  They also recommended I get one of those pregnancy support belts but I could never find one that didn’t move around and it didn’t seem to help.
    nwshay
  • Thank you for the suggestion @angbaby83. I'll look for some!
  • I do not appreciate being woken up at 5:30 every morning by this baby. It’s too early for pregnancy insomnia, that’s supposed to be 3rd trimester!
    cpk3535
  • @kristinl492 I’m in the same boat as you. The insomnia is so random for me. I’m luckier on some nights more than others. I’ve been meditating and practicing my hypnobirthing breathing to help eek out a little bit more rest when the insomnia does hit and napping.
    kristinl492
  • @ttc3y I’m basically just consuming as much magnesium as possible 😂. I am hoping that I can start getting some exercise in now rhat the first trimester ick is starting to fade. I always sleep better when I’m exercising.
    cpk3535
  • @kristinl492 yes! Magnesium is a good option. And making time for exercise is a really good point too! I’m also trying to get more active (more to manage my blood sugar) since the fatigue has seemed to recede now. I went for a 30 min walk this morning and I’m so proud of myself! 😂. I’ve put my magnesium on hold because I haven’t been enjoying the taste (it’s a powder form to mix in water) and it was starting to trigger my nausea. I’m still having moments of nausea but it’s not as bad as before.
  • The insomnia is so dumb. I am so annoyed by it.

i’ve also developed a very faint but nonstop cough. Im wondering if its pregnancy related or something else.
  • @sophe15 nasal congestion can be pregnancy related due to the high levels of progesterone floating in our bodies to sustain the pregnancy. I have had a few nights were nasal congestion and post nasal drip caused me to wake up and cough in the middle of the night. And of course, I couldn’t fall back asleep. Fortunately, that has only happened a couple of times with me.
  • I’ve been dealing with insomnia and a lack of motivation to exercise due to still feeling sick most of the time, and I’m soooo over it. I want this to stop NOW. It sucks when we can’t work out if it’s a pretty regular part of our daily routines.
  • @cpk3535 I'm sick of not being able to get excercise too. Last week was rough. I went over a week without taking any walks. Normally I'm walking everywhere in the summer and have strong legs but I feel like I'm losing my strength. I'm determined this week to baby step back into working out and walking even if it's just around the block.
    cpk3535
  • I'm having Braxton Hicks already. I guess it can be normal for having this many pregnancies 🤷‍♀️
  • @ttc3y good for you for getting out and walking! We went on a family walk last night and while it felt good to move, I couldn’t wait to get back to my couch lol. I’ve been taking magnesium gummies and/or using lotion. Much easier for me to consume than a powder or vitamin!
  • @kristin492 I tried magnesium gel and lotion when I was dealing with muscle spasms from the progesterone shots and I didn’t find them very effective in managing that issue. I’m questioning if the magnesium is even absorbed properly topically.
    kristinl492
  • same on the BH! I can't really feel them yet, but yesterday at my ultrasound the tech showed me where I was having one at that moment...crazy for them to be starting so soon...
