Re: Introductions

  • Introduce yourself: My Name is Ashley. This is my first post here.

    Due date? April 15,2023

How did you find out? Thought my period was late from stress. I was sick with Covid and wanted to take meds but thought I should take a pregnancy test first just to be safe.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?): This is my 4th pregnancy, our 5th child. I am 37. I have a stepson. My kids are 20-12 years old. This pregnancy was a complete shock. After being a stay at home mom for 15 years I just went back to work full time to pay for private school tuition. To say I am exhausted is an understatement. We have 2 Siberian huskies, some fish and two geckos. I met my husband in 2001, we’ve been married almost 16 years.

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)? Tired all the time. Crampy. Hungry. Today I am irritable and I don’t know exactly why.
  • I’m in the Central Valley area in CA.

  • Introduce yourself: I’m Alli, 32, from Iowa. I’m a long time bumpie and was active in my July ‘11 and August ‘14 groups but took a break for my 2018 kiddo. I need some gals who’s current experience is relevant to what I’m going through :)

    Due date? April 22

How did you find out? My husband read the results to me and I cried because this was very unplanned.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?): . I’ve been married to my husband Erik for almost 12 years and we have 3 kiddos: Stella, 11; Ian, 8; and Isaac, 4.

We’ve got a 4 year old standard poodle named phoebe and a mutt kitty named Georgia.

    I’ m a labor and delivery nurse.

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)? I feel fine now after the initial shock and WTF are we going to do wore off. I’m feeling the normal first trimester worries as I’ve experienced losses before.
    ALLI & ERIK - 12.12.10
    Stella - 7.7.11 | Ian - 8.6.14 | Isaac- 7.20.18
    #4 due 4.22.23

  • Introduce Yourself: Hi! My name is Micaela. I’m 33 years old and from a suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota.

Due date? April 4th, but we’ll induce no later than March 27th (39 weeks).

How did you find out? We started trying (again) in June after a MMC in April. July was wild because we were moving (with two dogs and a toddler), so we weren’t very diligent in our “efforts” but I thought I might as well take a test once we were approaching what would have been the start of my period. I was actually shocked to see the faint line. Took maybe 20 more tests over the next couple weeks, and then 3 HCG draws, which showed appropriate increases in levels. Finally, confirmed a heartbeat via ultrasound at 8 weeks and again at 10 weeks.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?): I met my husband, Adam, in law school, and we’ve been married since 2015. We’re both attorneys - I practice family law. Our firstborn son was stillborn at 38 weeks in September 2019, which was devastating. We got pregnant again in March 2020 and had our second son, healthy, in December 2020. He’s now 21 months and is the sweetest thing. We also have two dogs - a Shih Tzu mix, Mork, and a Boxer, Minnie. I love running, reading, TV, and various podcasts.

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)? Anxiety is my number 1 pregnancy symptoms, and it’s certainly already here in full force. I expect, as with my second son, that the 2nd trimester will be a little easier and then the 3rd trimester will be terrifying. Physically, I had quite a bit of nausea until this week - seems to be easing up. Constipation is here, some nasal stuffiness. This pregnancy has also turned me against several of my favorite foods lol Good times.

  • Hi I’m Amy, I’m 24 married for 7 years and a nurse in Germany but I’m originally from Quebec in Canada. I’m due on April the 9th. I have no other kids, just a sphynx cat. I noticed because of fatigue and now I have HG which kind of overshadows any other symptoms I may be having.

Introduce yourself: hi, I’m Emily. I’m 32 with one son, a cat, a dog & a husband living in North Carolina 😊

    Due date? April 19

How did you find out? We had been trying for a month & my period didn’t arrive when it should. I had missed my period, had taken 4 hcg strip pregnancy tests (all negative) and decided to take a digital on a Monday morning before work. I FLEW down the stairs when I saw it read “pregnant” to tell my husband who was equally as surprised 😂 nothing like having to go to work like everything is fine after that!

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?): I have a 26 month old son, we love to spend time with our family and friends! I also enjoy reading, although it’s never really something I like during the first trimester

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)? This pregnancy is similar to my first, but with more bouts of nausea. I’m 10weeks today.

I went to my first scan thinking I was 7 weeks but was only measuring 5weeks 6 days. We did get to see the baby and they were able to capture a fetal pole at 105bpm at that scan and didn’t seem concerned at all. This has left me with a little bit of anxiety since I won’t have another scan until my first trimester scan in 3 weeks. But everything seems ok! 😊
  • @emilynwilkinson we are due date buddies! I went to my scan thinking I was 10 days further along then I was 😅
  • Yay!!! Congrats to you! I’m glad it wasn’t just me. Based off my LMP I *should* have been 7weeks but alas, I wasn’t! Counting down until the first trimester US to let me release a little anxiousness I’ve been holding onto! 😊

  • Hi my name is Ankita. I live in winnipeg Canada.
My due date is April 29th.

I wanted to do a pregnancy test before attending a wedding. so i took the test early in the morning to find out if i should dance crazy or no.

My previous pregnancy was a miscarriage due to a clot in my placenta i lost my baby boy, I was in my 18th week.

So this pregnancy is full of worry as of now. I met my husband in 2013. We are married since 6 years we have a daughter 4 years old and a dog 12 weeks old name Stark.

I am feeling irritated easily, soooo tired. can not eat and always dizzy.

@v_flowers I haven't felt pregnant yet, either, so I get it.

@Knottie89593935 I am so incredibly sorry for your previous loss.  How heartbreaking.
  • @scaredunprepared whoah, that’s quite the story! I definitely wish I could have “skipped” the first trimester, but maybe not quite that way! Definitely understand the shock. Welcome, I hope your recovery from surgery goes smoothly!
  • @etnyah thank you!  My second pregnancy I was super nauseous so I'm grateful not to be suffering from that again (yet?)
  • @MsBeachNJ another east coast girl here!
  • @scaredunprepared sounds like you missed the nausea this time around to me! I don’t think it’s common for it to start this late in the game. I’m 13 weeks and still struggling with it, but it’s been a Thing since week 7 or so and it’s definitely not as bad as it was.
  • @aimeeps1212 I am so very sorry for the loss of your daughter.  I can't imagine the pain you endured. 💔
  • @scaredunprepared Wow! Talk about a story! I feel like I’ve “lucked out” with very few symptoms as well. Not going to lie, it has left me thinking “is there anything going on in there?!” But, little babe is hanging in there and growing.

Skipping the first trimester doesn’t sound like the worst thing in the world! Can’t wait to follow your journey.
  • Hi! My name is Jessica and I live in the SW Washington area.

Due date? We thought it was 4/24 but at our 10 week ultrasound measurements are looking like 11 weeks so likely a 4/17 due date now.

How did you find out? We were TTC for about 9 -10 months. Did an ovulation strip on a very strong day on 8/1 and then 2 weeks later I had breast pain and fatigue. Kind of forgot about the ovulation strip so I did one to see if I was going to ovulate and it was super strong (never happens). Then had a positive pregnancy test!

Tell us about yourself. This will be my husband & I’s first child! Both of our parents first grandchild. We were going to wait a few years but history of HPV, abnormal cells, past irregular periods made all the stars align and feel like it was best to conceive and start our family before 30.

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)? Lucky that I the nausea and vomiting is nothing like I’ve read other moms have. Headaches started to become an issue around 9 weeks but are lightening up now. Anxious for our early testing results and managing potentially high blood pressure as my midwife readings are high but testing low/normal at home. As a vegetarian/pescatarian (eat fish products a few times a week) getting 80-100 g of protein a day has been difficult.
  • @babybmom0421 welcome! Nice to have you here.

@beaniebaking - welcome!! I'm also AMA (40) with a (TW - history of loss) and I also work in global HR (for a Fintech company)

Look forward to getting to know you both!
    TTM - EDD 4/23 - Team Green <3
  • @beaniebaking what an emotional journey!  Looks like hubby was right ;)  When it's meant to be, it will be!  Glad to have you here with us!
  • @beaniebaking welcome! Completely understand being reluctant to join immediately. **TW** I joined the January 23 board right away when I got a positive test, had to leave after just a couple days. Thankfully I got pregnant again just a couple cycles later, but early pregnancy is definitely a little different so shortly after a loss.

Fingers crossed for great NIPT results, and making it through the first trimester is HUGE!
  • Nice to meet you all! Thanks for the warm welcome. Looking forward to sharing this crazy journey together.
  • @beaniebaking congratulations! It's a bit quiet for now (since most of us are in 2nd try) but we do have a very supportive and active "after loss" channel (I've experienced 2 losses myself and am 39 right now; this is a 1st child for us.) I do just hate with when Hs are so smug. Haha. I'm really ecstatic for you and your family! I also think we have a bunch of Chicagoans in this BMB! Where are ya'll at? Although not in HR, I'm a manager in a tech company out in Silicon Valley.

@babybmom0421 Welcome! 13 years is a big age gap but I hope your DD is excited about a baby sibling and will be a helpful hand!

  • @acleverusername I definitely recall seeing a lot of Chicagoland on this thread...not sure who is still active though. I'm going to post a GTKY thread so we can see where everyone's at!
  • @mradvins welcome!  We almost named our daughter Marina, I love the name :)

I also used premom when trying to get pregnant with our son.  Took a while, but we got there.  Now we are pregnant with an unexpected #3 just months after my son!  This will be our last baby, so we want to be surprised this time (well, I do...hubby wants to find out, but your comment about slipping up is exactly why i wont let him find out lol), so we will be waiting until birth to find out sex.

So sorry for your loss :(  Glad you and your rainbow baby are here with us, though.
  • Welcome @medp87 I also have a corgi! I'm hoping that you get more clarity with your ultrasound on Tuesday. I'm guessing this will be with an MFM?

  • Yes MFM appt this week, currently scheduled for Thursday but trying to see if we can get in sooner. I’d rather them be over cautious and check but hoping it’s nothing too serious. Also, always glad to find a fellow corgi owner!
  • @medp87 welcome!  I am also an OT and used to work in pediatrics, but now I work as a stay at home mom until my kiddos go to school.  One of my family dogs was a corgi/poodle mix and she was fantastic.  Definitely have a soft spot for corgis!  I am glad baby seems to be developing well but sorry you have some worries 😟.   I really hope your MFM anatomy scan gives you more clarity and helps ease your mind.
  • @scaredunprepared thank you! Always happy to meet another OT/corgi fan:)
