𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Still throwing up at least once a day and I hardly ever want to eat anything. I'm getting a little bit of energy back but I still nap whenever I have a chance. I'm starting to feel little flutters of movement which helps ease my anxiety a bit.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: DD2's class had a covid exposure so she's home until Wednesday. She hasn't had any symptoms and her rapid test was negative but I'm just over it. I thought we were done with this?!

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Rave: My MIL bought me maternity leggings at Kohl’s and I’m excited to try them. Bring me COMFORT! Also, she revealed that she ordered me some t-shirts and they should be here Friday.

1. The word for deer comes from the Germanic word “deor” (see Swedish “djur”) which means animal, so deer became more specific when transferred. Hound did the same thing because the original word “hund” means “dog.”
2. It takes around 2-3 years to grow a single pineapple.
3. Italian sodas have nothing to do with Italy unlike Hamburgers which are named after the Hamburg, Germany.
4. Some seagulls in Denmark are pink because they eat so much pølse, a special red sausage popular in Denmark.
5. In Swedish, “semester” means “vacation.” The actual word for “semester” is “termin,” closer to “term.”

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Mughhh there's so much stupid house stuff going on, including major construction all around us that is forcing us to park on a road up the hill. Said road is on the opposite end of our neighbor's 4' stucco wall, which I have to lunge over, while pregnant, with my toddler every day. Rave= my BFF has been living with us for the last few weeks while in-between homes, and it's like having a second wife in the house (aka, awesome, a huge help). She helps with the cooking, cleaning and watching our toddler.

GTKY: what’s your favorite random fact or piece of trivia? Ha. I feel like I have a lot of these but not sure about a favorite...here are a few
- Animals only contribute about 2.5% of the total biomass on Earth, and of that, insects contribute the most.
- Horseshoe crab blood is used for a super common, essential test to detect bacteria
- Elephants are pregnant for 22 months; velvet worms carry offspring for 15 months
- According to some scientists, less is known about female anatomy than the bottom of the ocean
- Fetal bovine serum is made to culture lab-grown burgers (for now), and the majority of all cell culture lines
- The only major energy source that doesn't require water is wind
- There is a small federal medical marijuana program that has been in place for decades. Only 4 people are in it now (most died earlier).

rant: Just referred to MFM for additional cardiac echo as my DS is now being worked up for heart problems (probably missed during the pandemic). Our prior pediatrician didn’t eval kids in person anymore. I wish I would have switched earlier but I was so overwhelmed and just feel guilty

rant2: my boss has been unexpectedly out for weeks. I haven’t told work I’m pregnant because it felt like it should be an in person discussion but didn’t think I’d be waiting this long to tell them. I’m pretty sure it’s obvious by now but continuing to wear flowy and all black - i don’t look like spring

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: I had an early anatomy scan at 16w that went so well so I've been feeling a tiny bit more relaxed.  Physically I have been in crazy pain with a TMJ/gum issue the past few days  But otherwise I have been doing good.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: I can only take Tylenol to help with the pain from the TMJ/gum issue and it does NOTHING. Thank god for my acupuncturist or else I wouldn't be able to get through the day.  I know it will be better in time, I'm just back to the soft food diet and so cranky about it!

Questions: Starting to think about childcare situation for after maternity/paternity leave - I know it varies per region, but how early did you start looking into daycare?

Look into daycares ASAP. Our friends spent months searching only to find out the week their daughter was supposed to start that the employees were doing the kids with melatonin gummies during the day. Be wary of home daycares unless you actually know the person. I worked in a home daycare and I can say you can't trust them all. Some are absolutely wonderful. I ended up nannying for a family that pulled their son from a church recommended daycare because the ladies son was a pedophile and was around the kids. That being said I've known some absolutely top notch daycares and centers that have done a great job. Just do a lot of research and trust your instincts.

I realize that I came off as super negative when in reality most daycares are fine. I worked as a nanny for a decade and was often hired after a bad daycare experience. The vast majority aren't going to give you negative experiences.

@krysnicole1022 thank you!  not negative - I understand what you mean.  TBH we're hoping that my in-laws will offer some degree of childcare, but I want to be prepared just in case.  I'll get started on researching and thank you for all the tips.

@sandy5693 I have so many friends who had in law help and then only had to do daycare 1-2 days a week. It worked out really well.

I think also depending on your location the wait lists can be super long for newborn care. When I had my first, we were in Madison, WI and the wait lists usually were out 9-10 months. So if you needed to start your newborn right at 12 weeks, you needed to be getting on wait lists within the first trimester.

@kricon I'm in NYC and I'm sure the waitlists are long too.  I think I better get on it ASAP...I'm in denial that I can't stay home forever when the baby comes

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Severe pregnancy brain. I forgot my daughter's psychologist appointment yesterday. I just completely blanked. I felt absolutely awful. We've been with her since my daughter was 5 and she's almost 9 so she knows I would never miss an appointment without good reason. She accepted pregnancy brain as a good reason. 😂 I'm tired and having trouble finding motivation. I'm trying to finish up the basement section I'm working on but I'm too tired. I tried unisom and I'm basically nonfunctional the next day if I take it. Total BS.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: I met my friend for lunch today and when she saw I was pregnant she was exactly the right amount of excited without being annoying. She was right in the "cautiously optimistic" realm I like to hang out in. 

Questions: I keep putting off selling my double stroller because I'm afraid they will find a second baby at my twenty week. This shouldn't be an issue because I've had enough ultrasounds but they were pretty convinced based on my size with Baby 3 that they have missed a baby that I am paranoid. Anyone else have this fear?

People domesticated dogs but cats domesticated themselves. They just decided to live indoors with people and the people just had to accept it and they liked the pest control. This is so true to cat form that I find it very funny. 
Cats only need the illusion of a box to sleep in it. It could be taped on the floor and a cat will seek out the spot. They don't know why. 
The world's largest spider is the Goliath Bird Eating spider and it's about the size of a dinner plate but it is not the most venomous spider. The most venomous is the Brazilian Wandering Spider. (This last one courtesy of my 8 year old budding arachnologist when she saw the question.)

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Anxious. My Mum's breast biopsy came back as cancerous, though fortunately extremely early and treatable, likely with no chemo. Still very triggering as we lost my Dad to cancer when my sister was pregnant and my Mum's cousin to cancer just a few months ago. Mum's fought it and beat it before at least and is feeling relieved for clear answers. Also intimidated by how intense the Spring term demands are going to be. Very excited about the anatomy scan next week, DS's 2nd birthday on Sunday, and my sis and I have a spa day on Tuesday.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Rave: the watch list for my screen studies course has a ton of my favourites on it! Rant: I'm getting increasingly impatient with people who insist on sharing the elevator with me when I'm a very bumpy preggo with a toddler in a stroller who is too little to be vaccinated. 

Questions: Any tips on where to get cute but comfy slip-on shoes in large sizes? I need options beyond my birkenstocks and refuse laces while preggy

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Overall way better than before. I definitely have a lot of energy back and can drink water again! I felt like I was totally neglecting my son and my dog because I was so I’ll and dehydrated, but im glad that I can be a mom again! I haven’t thrown up in a week and a half ish (knock on wood!) so im hoping im over that slump. 

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: A rant would be WHY am I seriously up at 2 am when I went to bed at 8:30?! This insomnia is crazy. Another rant would be that I’ve been having really awful nightmares about loosing the baby, my fiancé keeps reassuring me, but I feel like it’s an annoyance to everyone I talk to about this

 A rave would be that we found out we were having a GIRL this time! We had a son first and I was really hoping for a girl, I can’t believe I got her! when we found out, I literally screamed at my fiancé and said, “Good Job!” 😂

Questions:   How are you all staying active? I miss my old work out routine and would like to get back to the gym.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Surprisenly well this week. We mmade a whirlwind trip last weekend to chicago.(my youngest and oldest. Went to visit my grandparents as my grandma was bowling in a tournament) Worked all day Friday left immediately to head to the airport to catch a plane to Chicago. Walked all over downtown Chicago saw the bean,Navy Pier, Riverwalk walked over 6 miles that day, Sunday was less walking but still busy. Woke up at 2:45 a.m. Monday to catch a plane back to Missouri and then worked all day. Somehow it is Friday and I have survived the week lol.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Had an appointment yesterday and heard his heartbeat which eased my anxiety. I think I am feeling random movement but it's not flutters it's more "pushing/pressure" that will come and go.

Questions: I have a Graco infant carrier that is a little over 4 years old that I was thinking of using but I wanted to get a new stroller, however it's almost just as cost-effective to just get a whole travel system. I was looking at the Evenflo pivot or the chico Bravo any suggestions recommendations experience with either of these two car seats? I have 20% off at Target that expires May 14th so I was going to try to make the purchase while I had the 20% off

@kat_vegan87 I swear our dog is the only reason I’m staying active and I am SO THANKFUL for her. She’s getting 1.5 miles (30 minutes bc uphill on forest roads) in the morning and the same distance in the afternoon. If I feel frisky, which I rarely do as Tiny is taking all my extra energy, I add half a mile.
I understand missing weightlifting, and the only ones using our elliptical is a bunch of spiders at this point since it sits in a storage tent 😂

𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: 6/3 20 week ultrasound 

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Not great. At my 16 week appt on Monday they couldn’t find heartbeat on doppler so I had to go back for an ultrasound. It was terrifying. Baby boy was just fine, but PGAL brain has been in overdrive ever since. Not a good week. 

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Rave was getting pampered with a dermaplane and facial on Friday. Rant was getting a call as I was checking out with an obnoxious work emergency that took the rest of the day (until 6 PM, which for a Friday is especially garbage). 

Questions: Anyone have particularly fun plans for Mother’s Day tomorrow? I’ll be at my oldest’s swim lessons but doing brunch after.

3. Certain species of large burrowing spiders keep tiny frogs, called microhylids, as “pets” in their burrows. The frogs receive protection from the spiders, and in exchange the frogs hunt and eat small bugs in the burrows that otherwise prey on the spiders’ eggs. Basically, these frogs are the spiders’ cats.

@EmilyE13 I’m so sorry that happened at your appointment. I almost had the same thing happen at my 15 week appointment but she did end up finding the heartbeat right before she was going to give up. My mind was not in a great place after, so I went and had a private ultrasound done a few days later so DD could come too. It really helped!
