Ultrasound thread

Re: Ultrasound thread

  • @motherofahobbit My first try was inconclusive. I think my daughter accidentally dumped out some of the anti clotting liquid so it likely clotted. They sent me a new one and I just did it on Sunday and dropped it off on Monday!

Did it feel more "real" once you saw your first ultrasound? I can't wait to see mine next week at almost 10 weeks. I am not doubting medical science at all, but because I feel very similar to before (minus hunger and fatigue), sometimes I don't feel that it's real. It's my first at 38. <3

Edit: Are you finding out the gender later on?
  • @ravenhairedgirl83 Wow! Such a clear US picture!

@amandarbloom Twins! I think this group is up to 3 sets of twins now! So exciting!

Had my first ultrasound today at 8 weeks. Heart rate 171, so that's great. However, they found a 1 inch dermoid cyst on my right ovary. Anyone here have any experience with dermoid cysts while pregnant? Or in general? I need to go back in a few weeks so they can measure it again. If it's bigger, I will need surgery to have removed...while pregnant. I'm definitely nervous and just feeling let down about my day
  • @gottgravel I’ve had cysts on my ovaries with all my pregnancies, and they said the same thing that they would have to do surgery if they didn’t go down. Luckily with all of them so far, the cysts went down on their own by the following appointment. Are you having any identifiable pain or complications with it? Do you know how big they said it was? Everything crossed for you that it goes down on its own!

  • @gottgravel I had a couple on an ovary with one of my losses. They watched it carefully and, yup, said "if it doesn't go away you might need surgery". By the time I got my follow up it was gone.

It's a dermoid cyst so my understanding is that it will not go away on its own. It's 1 inch, which seems large to me - even though they said small. I've searched some old forums and I'm only seeing people who had them about 3 cm and they had to remove their ovary entirely. Thank you for the well wishes 🥰
  • @gottgravel They found 2 cysts during my first ultrasound that they'll be checking later on for potential surgical removal. One was about 1 inch, the other about .75 inches. They didn't mention what kind they were though.

@ashnicell Hopefully you have the kind that can go away on its own, or it won't get any bigger and you can just move forward with no complications 🙂

After 9w6d finally went to our first appointment today and got an ultrasound. It was the longest wait ever! Baby’s growth is consistent with my originally estimated due date so no changes there. I wish I could provide a pic, but around my area they do an ultrasound on a smaller handheld device and don’t actually measure heart rate or anything yet. They just generally look for cardiovascular activity which I’m thankful our little peanut has! I guess at my doctors you get the ultrasound to actually have at 20w so another long wait ahead it seems like. Thankful baby is growing and everything is looking great! My next appointment is in a little less than a month. Until then, time to get all my tests/screenings done.
  • @sburgh23 same here! My doctor told me my first ultrasound will be at 20 weeks. I still haven't had dopler yet either so the anticipation is killing me! I'm 9 weeks 4 days today and get to hear the heart beat in about a week and a half.
