Trying to Get Pregnant

WTO Friday 3/18

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW (trigger warning) and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. Thanks for keeping this a safe place for us all to engage!**

R/R: Sorry I've been MIA this week! Been using the lighter workload to try to take a much needed mental break from everything. I've been lurking and trying to keep up with your updates though. The Peggys have been...fun. I'll jump back into the larger threads next week, but wanted to pop in here and say "hi" before the weekend!

CS/Q: My OPK this morning was so low the app wouldn't even register it. Usually I would have a peak on CD 13. Could the letrozole be pushing back O?

GTKY: What was your most memorable vacation (good or bad)? When I was a kid, we took a multi-week trip driving out west and visiting national parks. We would just drive each night until Mom/Dad got tired and then find a hotel for the night. One night, we could not find a hotel with an opening (something was going on in the nearby city). We ended up at the sketchiest motel called Rainbow Motel that was gross and definitely had a murder vibe. To this day, "Rainbow Motel" is used in our family to describe unacceptable sleeping accommodations.

  • @abjm0325 I love that you use the name of a sketchy hotel as a marker for acceptable sleeping conditions 😂😂😂 the name just sounds sketchy. Lol

R/R: Friday!!!!! Ready for a super fun weekend  full of celebrations!

    CS/Q: just WFAF…

GTKY: What was your most memorable vacation (good or bad)? My parents took me on a European vacation when I was 24 to celebrate my college graduation. We started in London and our last night before going to Paris, we went to see Wicked on broadway. I tripped up the stairs ever so gracefully, and my foot got caught on the metal lining. I sliced off the entire padding on my big toe. Blood everywhere, it was horrible! But I refused to go to the hospital, because we had 4th row center seats to wicked. My aunt was there and she’s a nurse. She went and bought steri strips and got me all bandaged up for the rest of the trip. 😂
  • @ejoseph16 Haha, my mom was so traumatized she spent the next morning calling ahead and booking the rest of our hotels for the trip. I love that you insisted on going on in to the show! 😆
  • @abjm0325 rainbow motel. Sounds like a great place! 🥴

    @ejoseph16 what’s are the celebrations?!

GTKY: What was your most memorable vacation (good or bad)? I keep thinking about the time my dad took me to Hawaii when I was like 13. I was in the prime of tweenager and was mostly annoyed and embarrassed by him at the time. I wish I could go on that trip again.

@abjm0325 My mental picture for this just goes straight to the OC and the gross motel they stayed at on their way to Mexico lol.

@ejoseph16 That sounds like an incredible trip!!! And kudos to you for powering through - but I get it, because Wicked  :D  <3

R/R: Finally Friday. This has felt like a long week mentally. I'm feeling checked out already haha. DH and I actually made it out to lunch yesterday and I cannot believe it. First time since this pandemic started that we've been out to eat *alone* together or at all.

    CS/Q: Nope.

GTKY: What was your most memorable vacation (good or bad)? 6 years ago, a trip to Vegas. I had an idea for DH's birthday, a very loose idea, that the two of us could go to Vegas because he had the whole week off from work. I made the mistake of bringing this up in front of his family, and my MIL took to mean, WE SHOULD ALL GO, and immediately started planning this trip without consulting either one of us. *TW* mention of pregnancy
I found out I was pregnant not long after she started looking up plane tickets, and I was obviously very turned off by the idea of being in Vegas pregnant. I would've been in my second tri at this point and knew myself well enough to anticipate all of my anxieties being there with cigarette smoke billowing, not wanting to be out late, etc. Turns out our opinions mattered *zero*, and my MIL pretty much forced us to go despite our suggestions for other destinations, and despite it literally being a trip to celebrate my DH's birthday. She pointed out multiple times that she considered this trip to also be about celebrating her anniversary, even though it had been several months since.

The ENTIRE trip my MIL and FIL complained about absolutely everything. My DH and I were graciously offered a room upgrade (and it was sick too - I mean like a double door entrance room, which I had never stayed in before in my life) and my MIL expressed to me that she felt like they should've gotten our room upgrade instead. I should mention they also got their room upgraded, and while staying at the hotel, decided it was a good idea to write a bad review online about how uncomfortable the furniture was. On the day of DH's birthday I had made a request to be in charge of the planning for the day and had made reservations for all of us to go out to eat after his birthday surprise, driving in a lambo. My FIL nixed this idea while we were on our way back to the hotel, claiming he wasn't hungry, and proceeded to convince everyone else that it was a bad idea. Meanwhile the angry hungry pregnant woman was in the back seat, flabbergasted at the audacity, and we ordered room service instead.

The cherry on top - my MIL made comments about my pregnant body, saying things like "Oh, is your jacket going to zip up over that belly??" The whole trip was like this. I will never, ever, ever go on a vacation with them again.

Edits for grammar, my brain cannot function today. "Come on brain, think of things, come on brain, be so smart"  :p

  • @bearmomma1 omg Hawaii? I would love to go there! I think back to so many vacations when I was younger and wish I would have soaked up that opportunity a bit more…

    TW: LC mentioned

DS’s 2nd birthday is on the 22nd, so we have his birthday this weekend with the family. I love birthdays, and it’s our last party in this house, so I’m really excited about it. We are doing a Mickey Mouse theme and I’m going a little overboard, but with him being a Covid baby I really want him to have the best of everything.

@mrsmtothek I just got so angry reading your story. Oh I’d be so furious! I wouldn’t travel with them ever again either.
  • @mrsmtothek omg I’m angry too for that story. Although I could see my mom doing something like that. Vegas is the last place I’d want to go while pregnant.

@ejoseph16 yea Hawaii was great! I just with I had more time with my dad.
    TW:LC
We did Mickey Mouse clubhouse for DD’s 3rd bday last year! We totally went all out and it was so much fun.

  • @bearmomma1 I wish I could re-do some of my family trips as a teenager too! Definitely didn't appreciate them much at the time.
@mrsmtothek Wow. That whole experience with your in-laws sounds awful. I hope you enjoyed your date lunch though!
