@optimistgardener it _IS_ called WTF appointment. So your gut is correct. I'm sorry you have to wait for so long. Hopefully the nice folks at the clinic can accommodate you earlier. Have you called yet to ask if you can get your name on the next retrievals list? I'm sure you've thought about this/have been asked this before. Would consider flying a bit further for this stuff? I.e. Portland or Seattle? I know you've got a crazy teaching schedule, but... OH, any news on your interview process? 

@anniemarie887 your OB sounds like a total saint. I'm so glad that in all this sh*t you have someone so wonderful in your corner. May I ask if you were able to test the pregnancy for genetic (ab)normality?

The good news is my uterus is beautiful, the bad news is... If I'm normal... WHAT'S THE ISSUE? Still waiting on insurance to authorize my genetic testing for RPL, maybe that will give us a hint on the RPL.

@acleverusername i've been shortlisted! final interview stage at the end of the month/beginning of march. as for going further afield, i shouldn't complain because we all know with what grace and aplomb @keikilove manages her hectic professional schedule while also jetsetting across the pacific all the time for her appointments, but i am not sure i have the wherewithal to manage it in the same fashion. i know there are clinics in range of pdx/sea/sfo, but, ugh. i just dunno. I guess i need to think more about it. Re: what I plan to ask my RE about when and if I ever get his ear, is re: maybe switching up my stims regimen since the one we've tried doesn't seem to be getting me normal eggs, but also about maybe adding HGH in the runup? i need to look more into the studies on that. i also just generally need to hear him talk about what he thinks happened with this transfer. His clinic does not do back-to-back retrievals because it's a small clinic, there's just him and the junior RE, and they seem to manage their schedule by batching retrievals and transfers. but i'd like to do something as much like a back-to-back retrieval as the clinic can manage, and just try to build up a couple of good embryos or whatever i can scrounge as my last ditch effort here.

@mambo5-2 don't let this scare you but i just had to laugh when I read your update because I, too, have been told my uterus is beautiful.

@acleverusername of course, and yes. We got the chromosomes back last week. All 46 there, and “normal male karyotype”. I even have images of them which is kind of fascinating. So, what my OB said is that there could have been an issue with the placenta or the cord not developing correctly or implanting incorrectly, something no test is going to tell us. 

@mambo5-2 I hope I don’t upset you, you might fall into that unexplained category. It’s obviously worth continuing the tests to rule things out. But one thing I’ve learned over the years is that in medicine sometimes all they can do is rule out xyz but not actually make a diagnosis. The other ladies in this group will have much more specific thoughts re fertility.

Is anyone else mildly disappointed when testing results come back "normal"? Thinking of you and your beautiful uteruses @mambo5-2 and @optimistgardener.  My thyroid panel came back normal across the board. One more thing to cross off the potential problem list, I suppose.

@abjm0325 it makes sense to me. No one wants there to be something wrong, BUT there is a feeling of if something is wrong we can target a treatment, which can feel more productive than trial and error.

@optimistgardener unless I am missing something WTF is exactly what it is. As in "WTF went wrong here?" Congrats on being shortlisted! I'm hopeful that at least _that_ part of your life stabilizes. 

@mambo5-2 +1 on having heard numerous times, from numerous doctors that I have a beautiful uterus.

@anniemarie887 maybe one day, there will be a test that will with 100% certainty diagnose the RC of infertility. 

@abjm0325 10000% to being "disappointed" when some test comes back normal and "elated" when some test comes back abnormal. In the latter case, I'm always asking my doctor "so could this be a reason why this hasn't worked for us?"

@acleverusername I'm interested to hear what the plan is going forward after your results. That's a lot to unpack.

@optimistgardener *TW* with my loss, I had a heavier period and more cramps but about the same length *end TW* I'm so sorry, friend. I hope the RE is able to give you more answers and a better plan for next time. Congrats on the job front!

@abjm0325 I don't think it could hurt to try the Letrozole. It can make you ovulate more than one follicle so it increases the chances of conception.

@anniemarie887 your OB sounds amazing!! I'm glad you have such great support. That's amazing that you were able to get the entire karyotype report.

@mambo5-2 has your doctor ever mentioned endometriosis? I feel like a lot of times when people are "unexplained", endo ends up being the culprit. Most people don't get diagnosed with it though because you can only get diagnosed through surgery. I had no idea I had it because I didn't have any symptoms and all of my fertility testing was normal but the only symptom of endometriosis I had was that I could not get pregnant.

I’ll come back tomorrow when I’m not mobile bumping to respond to others but just wanted to pop in to answer @optimistgardener’s question - I believe WTF usually stands for “why transfer failed” but pretty sure it is universally understood to mean exactly as it sounds, “WTF happened?!”
