I love Hawaiian pizza. I lived in the East Bay Area for 7 months and people were excited about Domino's pizza. I'm from NJ. Domino's is a no-go. 👎🏻 I do love me a good porch sign. My welcome mat right now says "Pets welcome. People tolerated." I don't like big gender reveal parties. They seem gift-grabby and attention seeking. My friend's mom is obsessed with me finding out ASAP so she can crochet blankets in the "proper colors." Ummm any color is good.
My UO: Men shouldn't be at baby (or bridal) showers. Sorry, not sorry. The focus will be on the babies from here on out. Let mom get some attention and pampering of her own. I went to a shower once and the dad was there, and I was like "when is he leaving?" I come from a very big family (think 26 first cousins just on my mom's side) and had never seen a man at a shower before. The men in my family usually go out together during the baby shower.
I’m with y’all on not having a shower. MH and I actually talked about this last night. We’d rather just have food, cupcakes, and just spend some time all together with our families.
My UO is late, and probably not that U of an O - but I got a jury duty summons today. I do not want it, and I will be using Lil Bear as an excuse to not do it and I don’t feel bad about it. I know it’s my civic duty, but I ALSO know that if I don’t get out of it, I’m gonna get eliminated pretty much immediately because no criminal prosecutor in the state of Alabama wants me on their jury, and I have NO desire to be herded around in a crowd full of anti-vax, anti-mask rednecks just to be sent home after an hour because I don’t think smoking weed is a crime.
@bridgiebee82 Awh I had mh at my baby shower because I wanted him there and I’m thankful he was lol. Most I’ve been to the husband usually comes at the end, brings mom flowers and loads the car.
@mangoandguava those things come at the worst time! The last one I got was one day before I gave birth to ds2. And it was a us circuit court one, which means they have you for 90 days. I definitely opted out. I was ebf and ds2 would have only been a month old when it started. I even had my doctor write a note lol.
@paytonpedro to each their own. Lol the men usually come to the shower at the end to load up the car and get some food. Lol
@mangoandguava I have moved so many times that no one can find me for jury duty. Now that I've said that, I'll probably get a summons. I know it's my civic duty, like you said. But I'm just not about it as a pregnant woman during a pandemic.
@lmaplejc I'm with you on shorts, but I do wear them. I just hate that they're always so short. And if I want shorts that cover my thighs, 1. They look like old lady shorts.. 2. They scooch up my legs and into my crotch (TMI) because I have thunder thighs that rub together. It's very uncomfortable. I'm plus sized, and it's very frustrating that I can't find "cute" clothes that fit nice. Clothing designers forget that we exist. In the summer, I'm usually in a swimsuit and cover up though. I spend most of my time in my BFF's pool or at the beach.
@bridgiebee82 I only wear longer shorts. I don't care if they look like old lady shorts. Short shorts ride up since I've got a bigger 🍑 and at this point in my life I would rather look unhip then deal with short wedgies.
I guess my UO then is I really like shorts. They're all I wear in the summer. I wore them all over Italy even though they warned me everyone could tell I was an American by the shorts. (Um, I was in a tour group. Pretty sure they could tell I was American without the shorts.) And all the shorts I own are booty. I volunteered at my kids field day last May and wore this old pair of shorts from college back when knee-length shorts were cool I found cleaning my stuff out of my parents' house, and I felt like such a camp counselor in them. I will be buying another pair or two of maternity shorts for this summer.
I also wear shorts. We live in the desert. Summer temperatures touch 120-125. I need the hot fan wind to at least touch my legs. 🤷🏻♀️😂 My UO is that I don’t show off anything inappropriate but I also don’t really care what anyone but MH thinks about my shorts. Also, I choose a sweatshirt with shorts over pants with short sleeves every single time. Maybe that makes me a rebellious teen at heart?
I like shorts that hit mid-thigh and luckily that style seems popular again, but I hate bermuda shorts (make me feel frumpy) and I hate short-shorts (makes me self conscious) so I have to find ones that hit the sweet spot.
This is a recent unpopular opinion of mine. I don't want the attention a pregnancy announcement will bring. It is very much a wanted pregnancy but after my MC in august I don't want the attention and questions that come with being pregnant. I just wanna be like hey we had a baby in august. I know thats not possible but I just Don't want people in my business right now.
@katek819 you can announce your pregnancy whenever you feel is necessary, even it's after you have the baby. If anyone has a problem with that, I'll fight them. For real. You do what's best for you and your family.
@Katek819 I have a friend who never makes any pregnancy announcements on social media, she just posts the birth photos and name and most of the comments are "we didn't even know you were pregnant!" It limits it to just people IRL who know. I also feel similarly to you. I was so excited to announce my first two to the world but now...I like the intimacy of just my family knowing. If it was possible, I wouldn't have even told family but that's kind of extreme. They had to know but I get annoyed with the attention, too.
I don't love shorts because I really struggle with my confidence about my legs. I've always had very big legs compared to the rest of my body. Regardless, I wear them and actually found cute ones at target last summer.
@katek819 I was on fb through both of my previous pregnancies (I’m not anymore) but we never announced the pregnancy on fb. Just shared a picture after baby was born and we got so many comments about people having no idea. I figured the people who needed to know and were invested in us enough, would know. And that’s all that mattered to me.
@Katek819 so that is exactly how I felt with my third baby, and I did not make an announcement until we were like 20 weeks? Which is also when it became very impossible to hide the belly any longer. But until then?? I absolutely hid my belly and didn’t tell anyone that I didn’t want to know. And for the record, I only publicly announced then because MH really wanted us to do an announcement. If it had been up to me, I would have just posted a birth announcement. You don’t have to announce if you aren’t ready. And it’s okay to not be ready.
@Katek819 I won't be posting a social media announcement. I did with DS (pressure from my mom) and a birth announcement, but I am only on social media for a select few groups (including my previous BMB), so I can't see myself posting anything related to baby. I don't think I've even posted a picture of my kid in over two years on FB. 🤷♀️ if you talk to me IRL, you'll know I'm expecting and you'll get pics. End of story lol.
@paytonpedro Late response, but oh my goodness! I relate! I can’t imagine getting a burger in France! I’m the type that likes getting the things on a menu I’ve never tried!🤣
@meagan822 yesss!!! I mean, I’ve had really weird things (like chicken liver 😝) and I don’t search them out but I definitely consider myself more of an adventurous eater!

I don’t like inspirational or “funny” wall signs either.
Random UO: I hate shorts, never wear them. 99% are too short, and then they ride up or scooch down. And your legs touch all the surfaces.
