Woke up this morning, schools still weren’t closed, we probably got 2-3 inches. Basically just enough to make the roads messy, and I had to take ds1 to school. Wahh. I was hoping for a snow day lol.
I’m very curious what color hair everyone has lol. I was looking through the hdbd pics and it looks like we have a group of mostly blondes lol.

MH wouldn't stop checking the weather last night, mainly because he wanted to know if he was going to have to get up early to shovel (his school never closes, I work at a university, so no, and my kids' school rarely), and yeah, 2-3 inches of beautiful fluffy stuff that brightens my day and didn't change anything.
I *wasn't* hoping for a snow day, though, because they're a pain in the ass. H and I still have to get to work, which means I just have to bring the kids to college with me, which is fine but boring for them. And when my first grader's teacher preemptively sent some work home just in case, it wasn't clear whether that was going to be asynchronous work to do during the snow day (that would have been fine) or if he was going to have to be on Zoom (while at college with me, EPIC PAIN!!!) So we were happy with the outcome.
I think what threw everybody was we had the big snow storm on MLK day so most of the plows weren't plowing simply because it was a holiday, so a lot of schools were shut down or delayed on that Tuesday. But seriously, the week after we got just as much snow as we did on MLK day (8-12") and nothing closed or delayed, so idk why people thought that was going to happen today too.
So when we were “4 and no more,” I gave a bunch of boy baby clothes away to a friend (our girl clothes are long gone). Anyways, she is having another boy and asked I wanted her girl stuff. I said yes, and obviously will pass on to someone else if we don’t have another girl.
I just dumped it all out and holy cow, it’s so much. This is 12m-3t. She can’t find the little stuff but I feel so preemptively grateful (I have everything boy 12m and up also so I don’t have much to buy either way).
@paytonpedro I got up at 6am, was ready to go to work by 7, only to discover a text from our site saying they would close at 11 due to the weather. I decided not to go in and just WFH. By 8 they sent another text telling anyone who hadn't left to just stay home and anyone who came in to go home. As if they didn't see this coming. One of the other local sites made the decision to close last night. Clearly we are on the same page... But on the plus side, now I get to wear comfy pants instead of jeans all day!
And I have naturally brown, thick, curly hair, but get it highlighted "copper." I used to get more blonde mixed in, but I think that has faded by now.
Speaking of hair - to anyone who has a bald baby, I was bald until almost 3, but once it came it, it was thick and curly, and has been ever since.

@fromfurmomtobabymom8-2 my cousin was bald bald and she has SO MUCH HAIR. It’s seriously so think, her pony is the width of my wrist! So yes, bald means nothing! I was also bald and just have a normal amount of fine hair.
Also, re: baby hair, I know there was a recent study that correlated heartburn to hair, and I trust that for people who aren't prone to heartburn for other reasons, but if your body is built for heartburn (e.g. small torso with stomach squished up to the top of you for most of pregnancy), you're going to get heartburn either way. I had two babies born with small amounts of fuzzy hair after epic, epic heartburn .
I’ve had heartburn and peach fuzz babies every time.
My hair is fine and mousy brown with big chunks of grey underneath. It’s currently growing out some blonde highlights. I really need to make a hair appointment but it is so expensive that I don’t want to do it. 😂
@paytonpedro yeah my hair is naturally brown but I do get my hair highlighted ombre style so the very ends look blond lol. I checked my photo and laughed when all I saw was a couple blond strands. Also, we too got snow. We are expecting 4-6 inches throughout the day. DS's preschool was shut down.
@wisewitch222 I had severe heartburn with DS but I am short and have a short torso. But I remember when I gave birth people commenting about heartburn as he had a full head of hair!
Regarding baby hair and heartburn: I had bouts of heartburn here and there during all my pregnancies but all my babies have had an extreme amount of hair. Like they come out needing a haircut 😆
In the first picture, I have a before of my natural brunette hair and after. In summer of 2020, I wanted to donate hair and dye it for the first time. It’s been longer than the after picture ever since. The second picture is how it looks currently.😊 It is fun guessing what everyone looks like.🤣
I totally almost started a one off with a pill to see what color hair we all had 🤣🤣
Update on our snow situation. It’s crappy here now. The roads are terrible especially for the people who already don’t know how to drive- like the person in front of me who tried to do a u-turn and who I subsequently almost t-boned. 😑 Luckily I have 4 wheel drive and was able to get out of the way and didn’t hit him, or anyone else. But wth. Still keeping my fingers crossed for a bow day tomorrow so I don’t have to leave the house lol.
@meagan822 I think we posted at the same time! Wow!!! Your hair is gorgeous! I cut mine chin length after I had my first and have been trying to grow it out since. It just grows so slow.
I'm going to read through posts so I'll likely comment again, but I want to say hello. I've been a bit absent this week. Just a busy week at work. Dealing with H's new job that is much longer hours has been hard on me mentally. We have hardly talked all week and when he does come home he gets on his phone. I'm just feeling kinda sad. I want so much to feel like I have a partner and best friend and right now we feel like roommates. I will try to catch up from the week but wanted to do a quick random before I do.
@Katek819 my kids play independently very often. I do read and do puzzles or color throughout the day. Occasionally I do pretend play. I like to bake with the kids.
@paytonpedro my profile picture is me. I have super dark brown hair that I highlighted last summer. I'm growing out my grays. It's too much to maintain. Lol
@leahrnmom I hate when we feel like roommates instead of partners and lovers ((it feels very awkward to write it that way 😝)). I hope you can find a way to let him know you feel disconnected so you guys can fix it. Hugs. It’s a phase that I think tends to pop up more often when you have kids too. There’s just so much to do and not enough time. ♥️
