Win/Wine/Whine Wednesday 1-12

My NY resolution for this board was that I would dig through the records and try to resurrect some of the GTKY weeklies now and again. So here's one that hasn't seen a lot of airplay recently

1)  Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had recently?
2)  Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)?
3)  Whine - What's your least favorite thing currently on your to do list?

1)  Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had recently? We actually took down/half put away the Christmas decorations in January instead of March or April, lol. 

2)  Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)? My go-to is usually wine, but I shamelessly enjoy the flavoured beers (like Bud Light Strawberry Lemonade in the summer) and hard ciders. 

3)  Whine - What's your least favorite thing currently on your to do list? Cleaning the kitchen. I don't know how or why but no matter how many times I clear the kitchen island, it's always full of junk by the end of the week and it stresses me out to look at it. I'd love to blame it on MH because he loves to pile shit on there but it's just as much my own chaos and I hate it.

@kiki047 LOL at your win. Do you really usually let the decorations linger until Mar/Apr? 

1)  Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had recently? My permanent telework request was approved by HR so I'm moving out of SF! Time for a bit of a slower pace life, and hopefully less violent crime. 
2)  Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)? Wine, it's definitely wine. Mostly white wine, but I really enjoy red wine when it gets colder. And it DOES get cold in SF, folks. It _does_. Not like... 17F degrees cold, but when you're used to steady 55-59 degrees in the summer, 44 degrees feels awful. 
3)  Whine - What's your least favorite thing currently on your to do list? Well, it's packing.

@acleverusername Oh YAY to your request being approved! Are you moving to the 'burbs?? // And uhh yeah, I tell myself I leave them up in January because I like the pretty lights when it's absolutely miserable outside, but beyond that it's just procrastination not wanting to take it down LOL. I can see my neighbours all still have theirs up too though and actually in 2020 and 2021 some of the neighbourhood groups started petitions to ask people to leave their outdoor decor up/lights on because it made their evening walks seem less dreary. We don't even do outdoor lights tho so I can't use that as a valid excuse.

@acleverusername yay!! Where are you moving to? Packing is awful!!

1)  Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had recently? One of the doctors at work told my supervisors that she loves working with me and that I'm doing a great job. Definitely made me feel good because I'm always second guessing myself.
2)  Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)? Sangria!
3)  Whine - What's your least favorite thing currently on your to do list? Loads of homework

1)  Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had recently? I got a piece accepted to a creative nonfiction journal I admire and just got the proofs yesterday; I'm excited to see the publication come out!
2)  Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)? Hot cocoa! I make mine with whatever kind of milk is handy, usually 2% or coconut milk, baking cocoa, a teaspoon of agave or maple syrup, and sometimes some cinnamon. I also love a good sauvignon blanc or a Moscow mule, but I gradually had to stop drinking after my thyroidectomy a few years back; my body just really doesn't like it anymore and even one drink now feels like three.
3)  Whine - What's your least favorite thing currently on your to do list? Getting my first week materials set up for my classes starting again. I love my job and I love teaching, but the initial boring syllabus, online platform setup, etc. is always a slog before I can actually get to the fun part of talking with my students about cool books.

1)  Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had recently? I adulted today by making 3 doctors appts! I have been procrastinating it for the longest time and just bit the bullet and called today!

2)  Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)? I am obsessed with Truly punch. It's dangerously good. I like other seltzers as well, and the occasional white wine or beer, but the Trulys are my go-to right now. 

3)  Whine - What's your least favorite thing currently on your to do list? Cleaning. I really need to purge some things out of the house to make room for all the new things that have come in with the Holidays and such, but I hate doing it so much. We have a whole room that needs to be cleaned out and re-done and the thought of actually working on it stresses me out.

@acleverusername I hear you on the packing! We just moved to a new place in town last September, and I swear it's made me never want to buy another extra thing to put in my house ever again!

[had to edit the title of the thread because the first time around apparently i dropped the wine and just whined twice instead]

I had drafted one of these and then forgot to hit post. At the top I wrote "i'll start!" but it looks like y'all got the ball rolling for me.

1)  Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had recently?

I'll go with just getting through my days these past couple of weeks (and I know i'm not quite at 2 weeks yet but heck, i'll take 1.5 weeks). Campus during omicron is freaking weird.

2)  Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)?

i've been off the hard alcohol for a good long while now (thanks, interminable ttc process), but one day in my future i'm gonna pour myself a tall rye on the rocks with a dash of bitters and just throw myself down on the couch and put my feet up and melt.

3)  Whine - What's your least favorite thing currently on your to do list?

I have a handful of mandated online training modules that I am presently months behind on. I am here to tell you that I do not have the strength I need to get through them all, and especially without any alcohol to smooth the edges. I did 2 of them during break with a glass of wine in hand and they almost broke me.

@kiki047 I was just reading the HOA rules for our new place, and it states "Outdoor or indoor holiday decorations that are visible from outside are permitted, provided that they may be displayed no more than 45 days prior to the applicable day and shall be removed within no more that fourteen (14) days after such holiday." LOL. Good thing you don't live here!

@shortstack930 what a great compliment from the doctor! Cause isn't this a relatively new job for you? 

@runsonoatmeal I think you posted to the wrong community? Are you TTGP or Sep 2022 Moms? 

@tessiesmom26 +1 to being stressed out at the thought of cleaning / clearing / getting rid of stuff.

@acleverusername whoa, they have rules for that?! Some people leave their lights up year-round here, although they don't necessarily turn them on the rest of the year. Our neighbour just put up some fancy LED lights that change colour so he's going to adjust them for every seasonal holiday, ha! Now that I could get on board with, I'd love a Valentine's pink and red theme in Feb, etc. Hope the move goes smoothly! I know you've mentioned Monterey a few times, it sounds like a lovely area!

@tessiesmom26 ugh, cleaning. Yup. I hear you. We've also been dumping stuff in one room and just closing the door but it's getting out of hand. 
@optimistgardener those training modules sound terrible. Which reminds me, I have one I've been avoiding too. Guess I know what I'll be doing from bed next week after my FET!

1)  Win - What's a small (or big) win you've had recently? My promotion became official and I’ve had so many people reach out and say such nice things, it’s been great. 

2)  Wine - What's your favorite drink to have/make when you've had a hard day (doesn't have to be wine)? If I really “need a drink” DH will make me a lemon drop martini, and his are the best. If I’m just looking to relax I love a cup of tea that has some kind of sweet flavor 

3)  Whine - What's your least favorite thing currently on your to do list? I let my memory maker photos expire from our Disney trip and I need to call and beg for them to give me access again so I can download them. I need to stop procrastinating it!

I have to agree with your assessment re: @optimistgardener's "whine" being the best. I actually just had to get through a couple of those myself, because I was delinquent by 30 days, and my manager kept getting notifications so he told me to please do it. It was... you know... as expected. One of the was on discrimination & harassment - manager's edition. The stuff managers have to deal with... not looking forward to that part of my job. Argh.
