Re: January symptom thread

  • Is anyone else experiencing round ligament pains already? This is baby #3 for me and I experienced this with both other pregnancies but not until MUCH further along. Sleeping for the past week has been so fun as every time I move or switch positions or get up to pee I get the pains and it’s so unpleasant 😫

Yup. Third pregnancy here (one a miscarriage at 7 weeks) and I've been having those cramps for about 2 weeks now. They're not too bad anymore, but they definitely catch me off guard, especially with coughs and sneezes.

I think I might be too. I keep waking up in the middle of the night with pain in my hips that radiates through my butt and down my legs - usually just one side at a time. I’ve had to take Tylenol several nights at 3am just to be able to get comfortable- oh please say this is not a thing that will happen the whole pregnancy! I thought I was just tense. But, yeah they are not my normal aches and pains. This is my 2nd pregnancy.

Have you considered seeing a chiropractor? It almost sounds like you're having sciatic pain, and they can often help with that, even if just a little.

  • 5w4d and feeling unusually grumpy and irritable today.
  • @trapperkeeper87 Ohh good idea. I’ll look into that. This pregnancy is so new still, so I’ll see if it continues, but that very well might be it. I wasn’t sure what to call it. I had pain like this at the end of my last pregnancy so it was strange to feel it (more mildly) already now.
  • @magnolia209 my initial thought was the same as trapper's.

    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • @magnolia209 I am going to second sciatica pain. I get it too since having my second. It was really bad at the end of her pregnancy. I saw a chiro every week for the last 5 weeks of my pregnancy.
  • @magnolia209 I did acupuncture last pregnancy for terrible sciatica and it worked wonders!
  • Is anybody else dealing with headaches?

  • @elle-0409 I had a non stop headache for the first like two weeks of pregnancy! It is finally gone now. I took Tylenol regularly and tried to drink as much water as possible. Hope yours goes away soon!!

I haven't, but I've been incredibly thirsty. I only relate the two because I had headaches with my last pregnancy and never could drink much water (and sweated through my jams every single night). Are you drinking a river's worth of water each day?

  • @trapperkeeper87 I definitely need to up my water intake. I’m sure that has a lot to do with it.

Two rivers.  Which, since I am already peeing 20+ times a day, is not helping things.

Also, I totally forgot about first trimester gas.  I'm already prone to terrible gas as a result of my weight loss surgery and pregnancy just makes it intolerable!

  • Insatiable thirst, insomnia, peeing a ton, sore boobs, and no appetite.

I had covid back in July and lost my sense of smell, it finally came back really dull but it’s back in fullll force now. Feels nice!
  • Thanks everyone for suggesting chiropractor and acupuncture for sciatic pain. I’ll ask my OB for her recommendation too. Hopefully it doesn’t get worse, but it is super early and I don’t want to take too much Tylenol!

It’s so strange to me that last time I had really strong aversions and heightened super power smelling at 3 weeks already. I took the test at 3w4d. This time, no aversions yet and I’m just starting to notice a bit of heightened smell at 4w5d. With my due date being exactly the same as last time, it’s really hard not to compare!

YES! The first three days after my positive test I had a nonstop headache. It’s since gone away but I’ve had an insatiable thirst since then so I think it’s been keeping it at bay. Another random symptom I didn’t expect - I was dizzy every time I stood up yesterday but it seems to have subsided today. Totally wonky haha
  • So, I cried last night because we forgot to put the ragu in the fridge and I wanted the leftovers for dinner. Y’all, so silly! Then when my hubby started laughing, I started laughing and then cried harder. Tips to reign this in a little?
  • Only 4 weeks 4 days here but already feeling different than my first pregnancy. I've been very achy and consistently a little nauseous and crampy for a few days now. Slightly sore nipples, which was my only real symptom this early on in my first pregnancy.
  • Felt like absolute garbage first thing this am. Not quite nausea but like I’ve both been to an epic bachelorette party and eaten a giant Thanksgiving feast the night before when I’d had only a boring dinner of grilled cheese and vegetable soup and a tame night of water and Golden Girls re-runs. Afternoons have been much better, just tired, and I just got back from a 45-min run that felt great. And now I want nachos. And a bagel. Bagel nachos, is that a thing?

Ginger ale, gummy worms (I heard they can help?), saltines, Tummy Drops, and some Kindle reading until it's time to pick up my toddler in two hours.

My puppers passed from cancer last June, so I don't have that worry anymore. But even if I did, these are polyester fleece, so they can be all but abused in the wash as often as I like with minimal damage.

    😄

I'm not the best at housewife duties, but we try to change the sheets weekly, but always bi-weekly. I'm an active sleeper, and I've been sweaty with this pregnancy, so it's out of necessity.

  • Is anyone else actually not feeling nauseous? I'm worried that it could be a bad sign that I'm actually not feeling nauseous yet. All I've felt is a slight queasiness for like a 10 minute period.

Don't stress it.  Everyone is different, and not everyone gets nauseous.  It's not necessarily a good thing or a bad thing.  In fact, at this point you should probably consider yourself lucky!  I didn't throw up once my last pregnancy and was only intermittently vaguely queasy.

  • @babycsept2022 during my first pregnancy, I was only slightly nauseous towards the middle-end of the first trimester. Barely had any other symptoms and had a perfectly healthy pregnancy!
  • Not really nauseous at 5w2d but the in the mornings nothing really sounds good.
  • @babycsept2022 Don’t worry! How far along are you? I’m 5 weeks today and feeling nothing! I keep touching my boobs to make sure they are still firm and sore (they are but not super noticeable unless they get bumped or touched). So, because I’ve done this before, I know that a) it’s early still for me and b) I’m not missing the nausea! I do hope to get some for reassurance. Like you, I feel a bit nervous not yet feeling that pregnant. But also, morning sickness sucks. Some people get it later. Some don’t get it at all. So, I’m worried, because I think parenting and pregnancy goes hand in hand with worry, but I’m not worried. If you know what I mean. A few weeks makes a huge difference in pregnancy. We might be sick as dogs this time next week! But I hope not! Just a touch of occasional reassuring queasiness would be great!
  • ughhh I am having the worst tummy troubles today! This is a not fun pregnancy symptom for me 😩
  • @theblondebump Ugh - that sucks! Hang in there.
  • Saw my hubby for the first time in a week last night and he told me my boobs are “fuller” 😆 which I agree with, it feels like there is more weight to them going up and down the stairs lol. Hard to tell that about yourself though, I just know my nips have been sore since like 6 DPO. All my pregnancy symptoms so far have been in my boobs but I feel like morning sickness is a ticking time bomb. 6+2 today.
  • @theblondebump today for me too, especially before I ate anything in the morning. This might be TMI but what I've found to work is to gag in the sink when my belly is still empty (except maybe water or orange juice) and then it's way easier to eat because i don't feel on the verge of throwing up anymore. Also way better than eating and then throwing up breakfast cuz that just sucks so much!

Question - Will nipples be sore the whole time or do they settle down?  I know I’m in for a rollercoaster of different unpleasant symptoms, but I’m already over this one. They are soo sore!!! I’m 6 weeks.
  • @alexissday
My got better toward the end of the first trimester.  I just try not to wear a bra as much as possible lol.

  • All you people talking about nausea are wearing off on me...currently very nauseous.  Not at puking stage yet though but it's making work suck.

  • OK nausea's officially in full swing! Today's the worst I've felt so far, I think. Just trying to keep drinking water and eating whatever sounds / smells good. At least I'm still working from home this week but I'm very tired haven't accomplished much today. Going to head outside and try to get in at least a short walk or run since it's in the high 50s and the temps are going to start plummeting next week ... hope I'll feel better once I'm out and moving.
