It’s Flame-free Friday Confession time!

I found a bug in my food at lunch that we ordered from an adorable little family-owned and operated restaurant that we love up the street... and I just picked it out and kept eating. I know, I know, it's gross but the place is clean, it isn't some dumpy nasty place. On the one hand part of me wants to report them to the health inspector but on the other hand, I've eaten worse out of my own kitchen and I don't want to be responsible for ruining this family's business.

@kiki047 i would totally do the same. but i also eat food that's landed on the floor and other grossness.

@kiki047 yeah, I mean, there's an amount of feces or animal parts/bugs that is considered acceptable in food that we all buy at the grocery store simply because you can't 100% prevent that from getting in during the manufacturing process. Most of the time you can't tell since stuff is all mixed together to make whatever product.

It happens. I'd give them a pass. And like you said, I've eaten worse out of my own kitchen. DH used to get mad at me for using the same tongs for flipping chicken/fish that I used to place them in the pan. We've never gotten regularly sick from my cooking so hopefully there wasn't too much cross contamination doing that .

My related FFFC is just how grimey/gross our kitchen is. You can feel it on the cabinets, the hood vent over the stove literally drips grease onto the stove even after cleaning the metal filters. Recently it started dripping down the wall in addition to over the stove

The kitchen was likely the most recently updated part of our house when we bought it but man, you can't take the old out of a 50 year old house.

@kiki047 that’s a good confession. I think I’d be too grossed out by the bug. But if I find a hair in my food I convince myself that it’s my own if at all possible haha

I realize that it's Monday but I was waiting for this so here goes..

It took far longer than it should have to realize that "PNV" means Prenatal Vitamins. I would see people put it in the WAYDTGKU and in my head thought it was P in V and I would think, well, obviously. And even though I know know what it really means, I still read it as P in V.

@tessiesmom26 i read it that way too, even though i'm one of the folks on this board for whom P in V is not actually part of the TTGKU program! and i think i've seen other people say the same in the past. our minds are all in the gutter, where they should be.

@inthewoods23 omg yeah, I try not to think about that part of food inspections... lol you should go follow GoCleanGo on instagram, she would have a thing or two to say about your kitchen! I hate that feeling of grease on my cupboards. 
@bows22 the more I think about it the more grossed out I am. At the time I was hungry enough to ignore it, and also there were 3 other people eating the same food and they continued eating so it felt like an overreaction. But definitely yes to the hair, I always convince myself that hair isn't that dirty and that I eat enough of my own/dog/cat hair to not be that concerned. If it was in something processed/packaged though I'd throw it out. For whatever reason, freshly cooked takeout/restaurant/home meals are fine? I don't know if I actually have a criteria for this lol. Not sure if I want to either. 
@tessiesmom26 oh you're definitely not the first person in TTGP history to think that about PNV lol. At one point it became so much of a running joke that people really did differentiate PNV and PinV in the dailies for a while.
