@karenmarie9 I’m definitely not looking forward to the finger pricks but glad it’s only for like 8 weeks. I’ve spent the last day reading everything I can find and I know I shouldn’t feel bad about it but I’m just a little bummed, this pregnancy has been one thing after another and I’ve felt bad most of the time. Trying to be grateful and focus on the positives and that in two months LO will be here.
@sarah_is_pregnant sending you good vibes. I technically passed my 3 hour but my middle two numbers were just a few digits away from the high cut off ranges. They gave me the option to monitor for two weeks and after one of high numbers (I was told <180 - which was wrong), my OB diagnosed GD. I have my US at 36 weeks to measure and I am having that same anxiety about size and the unmedicated labor I want. Because something is on my chart it’ll signal all types of “assumptions” from the L&D but I am going to try and make a few notes of my own in my birth plan like I’ve only gained 5lbs so far, my bp is normal, and my diet keeps me between the 70-140 range daily. Ugh…it also sucks that it’s a placenta thing that’s blocking insulin, not me, but we must keep going on this ride! (The finger pricks do suck though…)
@bflibump Thanks for the good vibes. I had GD (which I disagreed with. My fasting BG was at the cutoff. All of my numbers after drinking the glucola were fine) with my first and did all of the finger pricks and some extras because I'm a science geek and like data and information. It's only been 2 days, but I've significantly reduced my carbs and tasty sugars, and as a result have lost all joy in eating.
I will discuss at my next appt what this will mean for my labour and delivery, as damage control for 4-6 week si only going to do so much, and this child is estimated to weigh 5.5lbs at 32.5wks pregnant....sooooooo.
There is a lot of good info on the Evidence Based Birth website/podcast re: gestational diabetes. I highly recommend checking it out if you're wanting to arm yourself with information going into your labour and delivery.
@sarah_is_pregnant - hahaha I hear you on the lost all joy in eating. Every morning I moan a little as I’m like “Guess I’ll have eggs again today”. This morning there was a giant Christmas cookie spread in the paper that literally made me cry bc I want some so bad.
@sarah_is_pregnant I’m also diagnosed with GD but still eating fun sugars in small amounts - am I not supposed to be doing that? My numbers are consistently under the limit but I have a few little treats every day 🤷🏻♀️
@karenmarie9 I find that I pretty much eat the same things every day, it gets kinda old but at least I know my body can handle the carb load. Only 6 more weeks!
@elksamm - exactly! I also eat pretty much the same thing every day. It’s tolerable for the most part. But geez I want some Christmas cookies or a McDonald’s chocolate shake! But like you said only 6 more weeks. Home stretch!
Re: GD Test
Ugh. I'm annoyed at myself and my body.
Seeing my hopes for going into labour naturally just going down the drain.
I'll do the 2 hour next Thursday when I'm off work, and will change my diet for now.
Ugh.
Thanks for the good vibes.

Thank goodness.
Now I wonder what the Dr is gonna say at my next appt...
