@Sarah0335 that seems potentially a bit excessive...sounds like Your BP is boardering high at times, for pregnancy, but other than that it doesn't sound like you are high risk at all...did they give any explaination as to why? Maybe there is a risk factor they forgot to inform you about?
I'm relatively high risk, and I have OB appointments every 2-3 weeks throughout. But other than Doppler/brief bed side US with the OB appointments, I'm only getting the routine tests at this point.
Maybe your team has an explaination that could clear things up.
@Panaceia that sounds absolutely terrible. Are there any sores you can see on your uvula? I have had a viral illness in the past that led to large sores on my uvula making it really swollen and constantly gagging me. Can you tolerate cold drinks? Maybe even gargling ice cold water and spitting? Might help reduce some swelling. Im glad you’re able to be seen tomorrow!
@Panaceia oh my gosh that sounds awful! I'm so sorry you're dealing with that! APPARENTLY the uvula heals pretty quickly, but that's no comfort while you're going through the pain and difficulty! I hope your doctor has something that can help!
@night_nurse No sores luckily. Everything just looks raw and swollen from the acid and throwing up:/ I tried gargling but just choke, but the ice chips are definitely helping at least a bit! I can't swallow enough to get mouthfuls though, so just trying to constantly have some ice in my mouth. How long did it last for you? I'm really hoping the swelling doesn't last more than a few days. I'm just worried it's going to get worse and cut off my breathing:/
@goldfishcraker That is actually really nice to hear!!!!! I am sooooo hoping this just sorts itself out in a couple of days. I'm hoping the throwing up will at least take a break long enough to let it heal!
It was off and on for me up until recently, but the past 4 days or so it’s constantly there and only seems to get worse as the day goes on. Last night it was so bad I couldn’t move without crying out. I couldn’t even sit up in bed so my husband could rub my back because the pain was too excruciating.
It’s back to being manageable this morning, but not sure if I remember it being this constant with my son. Lol
@faithmovesmountains im so sorry, that sounds so terrible. I have been battling SI joint pain since first tri. It’s treated really similarly. On really bad days, I use a SI joint belt (which also helps sciatic nerve pain). Regular chiropractic care with a doctor licensed to treat pregnant people has made the biggest difference. She has also been able to show me simple ways to change the ways I move and stand to help avoid exacerbating the pain. A heating pad helps a lot too when the pain is severe.
@faithmovesmountains I’ve had sciatica both pregnancies and also really bad si joint paint this one. Things definitely few better when I wear a support belt or the support tank/leggings I have.
Also stretch! You can google stretches for these pains and lots of videos and websitea Come up for them.
Also inputting that spinning babies has “daily tasks” that are really really helpful! (My labor nurse saving grace with stretches and positions!)
@faithmovesmountains I have definitely had an increase in sciatic pain this last week, especially if I’m on my feet a lot. I do wear supportive clothes (heck, even my Uber flattering maternity undies have a supportive belly panel), and a belly band when I know I’m going to be go go go.
@faithmovesmountains Sorry to hear about the sciatic pain! I had significant sciatic pain in my pregnancy with DD1, but fortunately it has been minimal and easily manageable so far this pregnancy. The things that made a huge difference for me when it flared were: - proper sleep position: use a pillow between your legs so your hip, knee, and ankle are all at the same level/in alignment. I would also put a big pillow behind my hips and low back so I could lean back onto it and not be flat on my back. - limiting bending or lifting movements, especially when it is flaring
- heating pad on my back - regular stretching (figure 4 with one ankle crossed over the opposite knee while sitting in a chair or propped up in bed was the main one I would try to do daily) - self massage with a tennis ball - physical therapy for stretching, some mild strength maintenance exercises, and massage - support garment or belt (or both)
Aaaah sorry guys! Super busy with Xmas and the girls etc. Thank you for the concern!!! I was off solids for a few days but the uvula is more or less back to normal 🤞Still a little sore and scratchy but I can breathe and talk again without issue...so a huge win in my books! I guess now I can eat all the leftovers and gain back the 7lbs I lost at the beginning of the week!
@Sarah0335 I'm on the same schedule as you are! I haven't really pushed hard on why they want to see me that often, because I'm a little concerned they will reveal something that then makes me more stressed out, which will then make my BP worse. So I've been just trusting the doctor and going with it.
STM and still feel clueless on so many things! So with my daughter I was induced 3 weeks early with pitocin due to high BP. Im now 28 +4 and I am really starting to worry about preterm labor. Idk y its just an anxiety thing there all the time now. Last night I couldn't sleep at all. I felt like I was having BH off and on and baby was SO active. I feel like he's just above the hairline and moving so very much and feeling pressure. Which I have felt forever I guess due to subsequent pregnancy. I was having I guess lightning crotch pains. I was a wreck last night. I finally calmed myself enough to get a few hours sleep. Is this a bad omen that I'm so worried or is this normal for this time frame and I just didn't think of it in my first. Will I for sure know when its the real thing? I am too much in my own head. Will I have bad pain or excessive fluid/secretions if I was to go early? Would baby be less active? Sorry for throwing so much out there...my anxiety is at an all time high lately
@friends-fan First of all, do not apologize. We all have our seasons of doubt and moments of weakness, it’s best to get it all off your chest rather than bottle it up. No need to feel bad for feeling a certain way.
As someone who has experienced Preterm labor before, I can speak to my own experience in that when it was happening it was definitely happening. Just like with full term labor there was no start and stop, contractions were consistent, painful, unable to really talk through them.
Worrying, I think, goes hand in hand with not just third tri but all you have been going through. Just give yourself grace and try to do things that relax you. Certainly, if something sticks out to you, call your OB and they should be able to let you know if you need to come in or not.
You’re doing amazing, this baby is lucky to have a mommy that cares so. Prayers you feel better soon and everything turns out well.
@faithmovesmountains I had terrible SI and Siatica pain last pregnancy. I have been keeping up with chiropractic care this pregnancy and have noticed a huge difference. One thing that helps me get through to the next apt is prenatal yoga, specifically cat/cow. And I also lay on my back on the floor, bring my knees up and rock for a few mins. It seems to help reallign a little. I clearly can't do that for very long, but enough to get my hips rocked. Also, heating pads in bed. Sorry you are in so much pain!!
@friends-fan I agree with @faithmovesmountains, youll know. I also had preterm labor last time around. I have definitely noticed a huge increase in my anxiety. I try to keep telling myself that my body knows what it's doing, and in the past 2 pregnancies, I knew when it was "time". I also have had my docs tell me that although my last 2 were early deliveries, that doesn't mean this one will be any earlier. Most likely right around when they came (36/37wks). So that is helpful. I do realize when I feel the BH kick in and get consistent, or I start cramping, I drink a ton. Try to up my electrolytes, lay down. Really laying down is the best thing for me which isn't always possible. But eventually they slow down. My doc said 7-10 BH in an hr or if they are getting increasingly painful to go in. Hugs, you aren't alone in this!
With all that said... Anyone just not prepared at all? I have one load of laundry washed, and a crib assembled. But that's about it. I just did my registry last night. (well updated it since baby's diagnosis). Maybe it's 3rd baby stuff but I am just so behind. And not feeling any rush to get things done. Where is my nesting?
@faithmovesmountains thank you! I'm now crying.. pregnant hormones are back full force 😅 I do very much appreciate your answer! I think with the holidays and all the added stress of the extra testing and possible issues my anxiety is in overdrive for sure!
@313Meg Thank you! Your answers definitely ease my mind and to know that its fairly common and I'm not nuts (as DH thought last night🤣) makes me feel tons better!
As for being prepared..no, I am not at all. I have baby boys crib and mattress in their packages. I do have a few items of clothing in totes. His to be bedroom is what currently is our pets area. Their kennels and food are in there. It was a spare bedroom and it served a great purpose as a place for the animals. Now they are going to be moved to the living room. For the first several months I plan to have him in our room, since I plan to nurse, but would still like to have his room and crib all set up for daytime naps and such. I just finished putting away the last of our Christmas decor and once we get our news from our scan in 2 days, pending those results, I plan to start getting his room together and see what else I need to be getting yet.
@friends-fan If it helps, I was 40+2 with DD1, and DD2 was a RCS at 39+2 (she would have stayed in forever if it was her choice I think) and I had pretty terrible BH with both the month or two before. With this one I have at least 45 minutes to 1 hour daily of painful BH that are about 10 minutes apart...but they never last more than n hour. I'm worried because of my age I'll go early, but that fear is based on absolutely nothing and I'm pretty sure I'll make it to my 39 week RCS.
@313Meg I have some clothes for the first 9ish months, and I've rearranged the room...but that's it. I still have to go through all the girls' old clothes, find the bassinet sheets, get the bassinet and crib from MIL's house, find the change pad, check that the car seat will fit in the same row as DD2's seat and DD1's booster without having to put up the 3rd row, find the bouncy seats, carriers, all the baby stuff basically...and wash everything...so now that I'm seeing this list I've done basically nothing.
@313Meg I’m not prepared. But that’s partially planned because DS will start daycare Jan 18 and since my husband is a SAHD, he will have three days a week without a toddler to tackle the honey-do list. Since she’ll be in our room for 6+ months, I feel less pressure to really get her corner of DS’s room ready before she arrives but I’m hoping we will w/ DH’s free time. I really need more 0-3 mo clothes for her, apparently I saved very little from DS.
@313Meg I think going into my second kid I realize they don’t need much more than diapers, jammies, some swaddles, burp rags, the bassinet(what we use) and me. So I’m much less prepared this time around than I was with DS1 😂
@313Meg I know the feeling, though nesting has kicked in I just don’t feel prepared. There still seems like so much to do in a short time. DH and I just broke down and bought our big items that remained (monitor and a wardrobe that he can assemble) because if we wait any longer we worry it will be too late, potentially, with shipping time factored in with what MFM has been telling me. I really hope we can pull it all together before Ms. Lilly Rose is born.
@friends-fan I can feel the worry in your post. So sorry you are dealing with this. I’m sure all the recent developments are only multiplying the stress.
My preterm labor at 27 weeks was very noticeable. Much different from the ill-patterned BHs I had previously. I could time them on a contraction timer- every 3 mins, lasted 60sec- for hours. Weren’t necessarily painful at first, but very tight, uncomfortable, and followed that pattern for hours despite rest, hydration, and emptying my bladder. Later they became longer and actually painful. My babe has also been sitting pretty low lately like yours, like directly on top of my bladder- sometimes I even feel a weird pressure in my urethra like I need to go to bathroom even if I just did.
I don’t think it is ever ‘too much’ to put a call into your OB’s answering service if you are having any concerning symptoms. It’s what they are there for! I wish I had gone in to L&D hours before I did but delayed so long because I didn’t want to be that mom that came in for BHs.
Welp, got myself a handy case of gestational diabetes. Sigh. I’ve got an appointment lined up Thursday to go over using the blood sugar test thing and I’ll be scheduling a dietician appointment. Also ordered some cookbooks for GD. I didn’t have this with DS so all new territory for me. Anyone have experience and recommendations?
@rachelredhead No experience but my SIL had it with 2 of hers...maybe all 3....? At least it disappeared immediately after birth but I know the diet changes can be a challenge. FX it goes smoothly and goes away quickly after birth ❤
@rachelredhead no experience with gestational, but my life revolves around diabetes so here for anything you need!
If you’re a yogurt eater look for twogood it’s only 3 carbs and a great snack/breakfast. Not sure if you’re near a Trader Joe’s but can send a good shopping list for snacks there too.
Testing wise - I’d hope they’d tell you this but I’ve been shocked by how little non endocrinologist know about diabetes in general so just in case - always wipe that first blood drop away and squeeze for a second to get an accurate number.
@gembud I am near a TJs so a shopping list would be great! I think snacks are my biggest question mark right now so thank you for the twogood recommendation!
Anyone want a free 3 year old? Very obstinant. Doesn't give a F. Prefers to sit in the hallway, kick the wall and scream at me over cleaning his room so he can go to the park. On my ever last nerve.
@rachelredhead sorry you’ve got this added stress. No personal experience but I have heard great things about @prenatalnutritionist ‘s GD eating guide that you get when you join the Prenatal Nutrition Library. I think you pay monthly, so at this stage you’d only need a couple months to get thru the end of pregnancy.
@rachelredhead for my son not to need insulin snacks have to be under 5 grams of carbs so basically proportioned all of this is under:
trader joes folio cheese wrap and then add a deli meat, just check carbs first not all meats are created equal but a good one should be 0g or 1g - makes a little roll up
Trader Joe’s cauliflower tabbouleh is 1/2 cup for 6g and I pair with a few carrots - you probably are less restricted with veggies than my son, but a baby carrot is 1g each approx
Trader Joe’s cauliflower thins - they are in the vegan section - I use these with dips for him too or I’ll put organic sunflower seed butter on them - has to be organic it’s an extra gram or two for the regular
Trader Joe’s sour cream spinach dip is 2 grams for 2 tablespoons
I make these “muffins” they are very eggy I would up the cinnamon when you make them - https://pin.it/4VaxMJ8
I make DS “candy” one pack sugar free jello, one pack gelatin, 1/3 cup water on the stove - pour into candy molds and let set for 30 minutes - 0 grams can eat the whole container
I make pb cookies that are a little more than 3 grams each - 1 cup pb, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 cup any zero calorie sugar substitute - bake 350 for 7 minutes. Make then teaspoon size to make sure they are under 4 grams each
Trader Joe’s oven baked cheese bites - whole bag is basically 1g
Eggs, cheese sticks, and sugar free jello are always good snacks
This may sound silly but most of the gerber baby snacks are low carb - they have like cheese puffs that are good to get that chip or crunch craving
I’ll probably think of more things I give him but I’m blanking now
Oh also, bananas are the devil, we avoid them all together, but if he’s insistent it cannot be the morning - it’s easier for your sugar to spike in the morning than later in the day
@night_nurse Thank you! That is really helpful to know. And yes, I think everything is weighing on me. I haven't slept in 2 nights. My work day was super long today. Tomorrow is our much awaited meeting with MFM. I'm so beyond anxious but ready for some answers, whatever the outcome. I'm the type of person that has to know and to be able to prepare for things ahead of time.
@rachelredhead I'm sorry! That stinks! I had GD with my daighter, controlled by diet. I met with a dietician and they went over everything with me. It was very informative. I don't have any good advice for you though 😕
@michelle_bird I'm sorry your 3 year is being so difficult today! Some days are definitely trying!
