I really debated on sharing any kind of announcement, but after 2 years of going through IF, we decided we wanted to celebrate this baby as much as possible. And not only that, if I do it online I don’t have to tell people in person and have the awkward conversations over and over. 😅 so after finding out our gender yesterday and reaching 12 weeks we announced!
We don’t do pregnancy announcements. After my 1st trimester screening tomorrow, our parents will have the green light to tell people, so that’s how we announce lol. We will announce on social media after baby is born.
Edited to add: The GIF made me laugh. I don’t know why avocados entertain me so much, but they do.
@makingbacon I understand that! I considered not doing one, but I just wanted to get it over with. I’ve kept so much of my life private through our IF journey. So I wanted to share some! And avoid talking to people I’m not close to about it in person. 😬 My in laws aren’t super social so it’d just be a lot if awkward convos.. The avocados are very cute!
Ive been slowly just telling people here and there, I think for a fb announcement we are going to the beach in September so Ill probably do some type of pic with Orb 2.0 in the sand. I should be 20 weeks and half way there
@photographerwife I feel you on not wanting to have the same conversation over and over with people you aren't close to. @makingbacon I also feel you on being private and not really sharing online until after, I've become a lot less active on social media (I post maybe 2-3 times a year now) and it feels good. I don't want to be another person gratuitously sharing photos of my kid online without their consent, but I did want to share in a cute way with folks.
I thought about doing something official and "high brow", but what I ended up doing was post a photo from our most recent ultrasound (close up of her face) and a photo of MH and I in our coordinated (yes yes I know) MILF and DILF shirts making silly faces with the caption: "It's been a hot mom and dad summer! Baby Girl [last name] due February 2022
I have imagined being a mom since I was three years old. Words cannot describe how I feel growing this dream into reality. 'My little girl... you've gone and stole my heart and made it your own.'"
We've been slowly telling people as we see them. For my family we just had my son wear a tshirt that said "big brother" when we went to a family get together. Might do the same when we see my inlaws next weekend. Following for social media ideas! We didn't do anything on instagram/facebook when I was pregnant with my son but I'm feeling a little extra sentimental this time around since this is probably my last baby
We did a little box with booties that said "Our family is growing by two feet". We gave that to our parents at 7 weeks. We've slowly told some friends and family since then. Probably won't announce on social media for many months.
edited to add my grandma's reaction: I told her in person "our family is growing by two feet" and she goes "like two rulers??" Lol.
Last time we did a quick mini session after our 12 week visit, this time my husband wants to share next weekend, after the 12 week visit but I don't know what we will do/say yet.
I loved our announcement last time, (bottom photo) and I picked up funny a onesie so we can do a photo of that, or I have a couple photos of our youngest in a big bro shirt that we can share.🤷♀️

I’ll share my announcement for my 4yo in a bit because I loved that one too.
