Upcoming appointments: Anatomy Scan was today! She was measuring right at 20 weeks. I was also shocked to find out I have an anterior placenta again, because I’ve been feeling so much more than my last pregnancy since like 15 weeks! I guess I don’t know what it feels like not to have one though, haha.
How are you feeling?: Physically still fatigued and sore (pubic bone, back, hips), but I suppose I can’t complain too much!
Rants/Raves: I just announced on social media, kind of freaking out. People are excited though. I just hope this second half the pregnancy goes well and is uneventful. My 5 weeks of spotting episode(s) was so stressful, it’s hard to relax.
Questions: none
GTKY: What hobbies do you have? I used to love scrapbooking, I would kind of like to get back into that if I had more time. I am also a classically trained musician, although I haven’t played my instrument since DD was born two years ago. I want to get back into that again eventually!
Upcoming appointments: none till 24, had my 20wk and AS today!!
How are you feeling?: Good. Getting winded super easy, carrying DD is getting to be too much.
Rants/Raves: We found out baby's sex today! After explaining my fears and "demands" to DH, he understood my reasons and went along with it! But we won't tell anyone until we tell the other kids and I have no idea when that will be.
Questions:
GTKY: What hobbies do you have? I was getting back into cross stitching when the 1st tri exhaustion got me. I'd like to get back to it because I do have some projects planned, at least 1 I want to have done for a Christmas gift.
@rgn12 anterior is aweful. Mine is "fundal anterior. What instrument do/did you play?
How are you feeling? A couple years ago I was diagnosed with arthritis and degenerative disc in my lower back which was an every day issue. Since becoming pregnant it's been pretty non existent but now seems to be coming back. 😫😫
Rants/Raves: We're finally getting the camper out and doing a little 3 day camping trip on Wednesday! Can't wait!
Questions:
GTKY: What hobbies do you have? Hobbies? What are those? 🤣 During the summer we're pretty busy for me to get into anything but I do have a big paint by number that's been sitting ready for me to work on for probably 4 months now. Maybe when it gets cold and miserable again I'll start it back up!
@rpreston17 oh no, sorry about your back! I hope that you you’re able to to find some relief very soon! That’s awesome that you played sax too! Those were definitely the best years for me (high school), before it became too serious and stressful. I do miss those days a lot, the passion and excitement. Music school beat me down a bit, and it became a super stressful thing rather than a fun thing.
Rants/Raves: We're looking into building a pool and guest house for my mom to live in, and I'm really excited about the prospect but holy hell it's expensive.
Questions:
GTKY: What hobbies do you have? I love to read and I read a lot. So far this year I've read 47 books. I was hoping to hit 100, but I'm not sure it's going to happen.
@rgn12 I used to love scrapbooking too and I have a ton of stuff but it just feels overwhelming to do it now.
How are you feeling?: feeling great. i've been able to get back to running and working out and cooking and it is so nice to have those things back. I still am zapped by the end of the day but i'm pretty sure that's just how i am going to feel forever lol. i am emotionally a bit violatile, everything makes me v emotional (good, bad, sad, all of it!) so figuring out how to best acknowledge my feelings without dumping them on my fam has been a little bit tiring, but i think i'm doing pretty good for the most part. looking forward to my visit this week to further shake off those PGAL feels.
Rants/Raves: Rant! My entire family lives on the west coast where my mother's memorial is being held and my father is arguing with my mother's sisters about what time it is to be held. I'm on this terrible group text and they keep trying to use me as a reason "This would probably be better for her since she's flying in" and i'm like guys, i don't give AF but i don't think anyone is listening it could be at 8AM or 5PM or noon, i really just want out of the text chain lol.
Questions: How much leave are y'all planning on taking and when do you plan on starting it?
GTKY: What hobbies do you have? I have so many lol. I play the cello, I love running, teach yoga, and am a member of the local mycological society and love foraging for mushrooms. I love working in the garden, sewing, knitting, baking, cooking, ballet, camping, hiking and skiing and being in the outdoors in general. I am a sommelier so I collect (and drink) wine and also enjoy all things food and beverage that don't involve my actual job lol.
@rgn12 - oooh me too, but I play the cello. I've been in touch with a string ensemble here in brooklyn that keeps asking me to play with them but it freaks me out bc i don't want it to be stressful either. I also would like something a bit more challenging than just playing at home but idk what that magical thing is lol.
@melbel0824 - i also love reading, what kind of books do you enjoy? 100 is awesome! I'm shooting for 52 this year but I fell so far behind in my first trimester zombie days
@rgn12 Same! And I have some of my granny's scrapbooking stuff from before she passed and I feel guilty thinking about giving it away but I just can't see myself getting back into it.
@bkjade I really only read fiction, but I'll read pretty much anything with a good recommendation. I don't love horror, but I do like a good thriller. I only read romance for a while, but I've expanded past that now.
@rgn12 So happy to hear the ultrasound went well! That's exciting about announcing and hoping the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly!
@prpl11butterfly The getting winded is rough! Glad you were able to find out baby's sex! So exciting!
@rpreston17 Ugh, sorry you're dealing with the pains again! Enjoy your camping trip - sounds fun!!!
@melbel0824 Exciting about the pool and guest house but booo on the money!!! That's awesome about the books!
How far along are you?: 18 weeks!
Upcoming appointments: 8/3 & 8/4
How are you feeling?: Pregnant!
Rants/Raves: My daughter started daycare yesterday so it was an emotional day! Also, I finally made the plunge and got magnesium lotion and it definitely helped me be able to move better with sciatic pain!
Questions: Nope!
GTKY: What hobbies do you have? Lifting, anything art, anything outside! I do have a guitar and started learning but I suck and haven't picked it up in a while.
Upcoming appointments: anatomy scan and first appointment with my actual OB Thursday. I will update here how it goes.
How are you feeling?: Occasionally nauseous this week, tired, sciatic pain
Rants/Raves: I am as nervous as I am excited for my a/s Thursday. I can't wait to see baby and pray everything looks perfect with him/her. And as an afterthought I hope the tech doesn't spoil the sex for us.
Questions:
GTKY: What hobbies do you have? I love reading. I got a very slow start this year, but I just finished my 21st book. I also love astronomy and finding all the amazing things in the night sky with my telescope. That's something I haven't done very often since my second was born since he still doesn't sleep well (he's 2.5).
@rgn12 yay for everything look great with baby girl. I am so not musical at all so people who have that talent always amaze me.
@rpreston17 good luck with your scan tomorrow! Enjoy your camping trip! I'm sorry about your back. I hope you get some relief.
@melbel0824 what genre(s) of books are your favorite? What are your favorite books (all time or this year)? I absolutely love historical fiction, but I feel like I'm running out of really good ones to read. I'm kind of picky sometimes with books. I like a good plot, but I also really dislike being able to predict what is going to happen throughout the book. It almost disappoints me, haha.
@bkjade go you for working out again! I keep saying I will, but I have yet to do so. I try to walk each day at least. I'm sorry your family is arguing over your mom's memorial. RE: leave - I SAH now, but when I worked I didn't take any time off until after baby came. I was going to take 12 weeks off (I got lucky and we ended up moving before I had to go back) and wanted to spend every single day of that with baby. It was worth the last miserable couple weeks working 12 hour shifts.
@brookert615 how did DD like daycare? Hopefully it's a smooth transition for both of you!

@mockingjay1 That's so exciting about your a/s! Hope it goes well and no one spills the beans! And my daughter was all over the place with emotions when she got home. They said she did good and ate all her food but I wish they sent pictures!
@bkjade that is awesome! I secretly want one of my kids to play cello, I just love that instrument so much!! I totally understand though, I’d like to get back out there eventually too. I need to start practicing at home first though, I am very rusty haha
@mockingjay1 I hope your a/s goes well this week!!
@brookert615 can you elaborate on the magnesium lotion??? I sometimes have sciatic issues as well and would love to know more about that!
@melbel0824 that’s tough with the sentimental stuff, I’d feel the same! I also don’t really see myself getting back into it any time soon since it’s been ten years. But I did like it at one time! I am one of those Pinterest wannabe moms that fails at crafty things these days 😂
Upcoming appointments: I had my AS on Monday. Everything looks great and we found out we are having a girl! I do have to go back at 32 weeks for another scan because my placenta is over my cervix so if I doesn't move, I will need a C-section (which is terrifying to me).
How are you feeling?: Good my mom is here!! And I'm so happy little girl is doing good in there.
Rants/Raves: my mom is here!!! We are landscaping the yard together
Questions: none
GTKY: What hobbies do you have? I'm a calligrapher so I help with people's wedding invitations, seating charts and place cards. I havent done any this year (covid cancelled a lot of weddings) plus we moved so I don't have any clientele yet. Maybe once I'm on maternity leave though and DS starts daycare I will get back to it. I'm also joining a book club so that should be fun!
@bkjade I have always wanted to play the Cello. I play the piano but not very well.
@rng12 yay for our good A/S and seeing our baby girls!
@mockingjay1 I’m glad everything was good with your scan! My favorite book this year has been The People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry. It’s more of a romance but it had a great story. I read the first few Bridgerton books this year and they were cute. For historical fiction I like Phillipa Gregory. The Alice Network was a good WW2 book. It kind of spanned both WW1 and 2.
@kaitcrystalline That is awesome that little girl is doing well! FX that the placenta moves! And that is so cool that you do calligraphy! Designing invites and doing calligraphy full-time is my dream haha!
@melbel0824 - my scan is tomorrow, but hopefully it will go well I will have to check out Phillipa Gregory. Oh I love Kate Quinn. I highly recommend her other two books.
@kaitcrystalline - congratulations on having a girl! Hopefully your placenta will move and you won't need a c-section.

Had my anatomy scan today. I won't get official results until tomorrow when the MFM reads the ultrasound, but my OB said preliminary results are normal. Baby wasn't the most cooperative. The tech couldn't get a profile shot or some kind of blood flow through vessels around the heart. My OB said a lot of scans don't even do that blood flow measurement and that about 25% of people have to come back later to get it because it's difficult to get that early I guess. I won't have that repeat ultrasound until 28 weeks. Seems like forever away, but I know it will fly by. I am so thankful everything looked ok (hopefully the MFM will confirm tomorrow). Pretty sure we have another very ornery boy on our hands (we're team green, but this baby already reminds me of my second haha).
I also got the first dose of the covid vaccine. I'll be glad to have both of those done and be protected especially with this delta variant spreading so easily.

How are you feeling?: Relieved. We had the anatomy scan yesterday and everything looks good and normal!
Rants/Raves: The Olympics are starting and I'm probably more excited than I should be about it.

GTKY: What hobbies do you have? Just watching my son - seeing the "wheels turn" in his head while he plays and learns. Haha. I like reading but never have time. Sports - watching, playing, everything.
@bkjade we had a cello at our wedding, it's mine and DH's fave! That's awesome that you play!
Not 100% sure, but will probably take 8-10 weeks off. I have a ton of vacation time banked plus short term disability. On the other hand, I like working so would probably go crazy if I was off for too long. I'm planning to work right up to the end.
@brookert615 hows your daughter doing with daycare? My DD's daycare isn't great about sending pictures either - it's annoying.
@PYLWhammy They said she's okay, but she's just been WILD after we pick her up. Sorry about your husband dealing with crappy stuff at work - hope it gets better!
