Re: June - What my Pregnant Self is Eating

  • I'm having a hard time finding good nacho cheese. I like the nacho cheese you get at food trucks on fries and chips. I know it comes in a 6 lb can but I havent sent the husband searching at Sams club yet. The little cans in the store are gross. I just want chips with a butt load of cheddar cheese sauce and a butt load of jalepenos on it. I miss the drive in theatre, they had bomb jalepeno and cheese nachos.

Also, I need my coffee adversion to kick in because this half caff non flavored poo isnt cutting it

  • @livingoffpbjs Have you tried the Tostitos queso dip in a jar?  I just to be all up into that stuff in like, middle school. lmao

I have been doing caffeinated tea instead of coffee.  At least it's not pretending to be something it's not.

  • @BusinessWife ewwwwno, not the jar stuff blegh, I want that jumbo can stuff, I use to work for a catering company and I know if I reach out to the owner she will give me cans and cans of that cheesy goodness but I havent told anyone Im pregnant yet soooooo I have to wait. OR wait till shes out of town and sneak in her garage and take some and explain later.

Maybe Ill look into drinking tea instead, but I want my Don Francisco Cinnamon hazelnut waaahhh

  • LOL @livingoffpbjs  I cannot even picture what that must be like coming out of a can, and I am a little afraid to!  Is that maybe a regional thing?
  • @BusinessWife Im sure its everywhere, people just dont know where the cheese comes from lol It either comes from cans or bags. Well at least just that cheap nacho cheese type.

  • @livingoffpbjs I might be a bad influence, but I vote for sneaking in her garage and taking it lol.

I’m stuck on what to eat. Nothing sounds good at this point, but I’m starving all the time. It’s a conundrum lol.

@livingoffpbjs +1 for sneaking some from her garage. Gotta satisfy those cravings.

I have oddly been craving Taco Bell cheesy bean and rice burritos. We never eat Taco Bell but it’s one of the only fast food places in the next town over and when I saw their sign I just had to have a burrito.
  • OMG you guys.  Thanks to this conversation, I broke down and ordered queso with my groceries this week.  lol  I can see where this is going...
  • Lol well y'all this cheese conversation is well-timed because tomorrow (June 4th) is National Cheese Day XD

I really, really wanted brussel sprouts the other day (I mean, with bacon/truffle oil/parmesan cheese but still). I'm also into the light/fresh spices (cardamom, basil, saffron). I haven't noticed craving anything else lately, but I know my body does NOT want any chicken.
  • My friend mentioned bbq yesterday, so I ordered this giant bbq loaded baked potato for lunch today. 🤤

  • I haven't craved one single thing! I don't really have an appetite right now but thankfully I'm not morning sick!

@photographerwife BBQ does sound pretty good!

    @livingoffpbjs ohh yummm🤤🤤🤤
  • There is a plain seltzer that is GINGER FLAVORED.  No sweetener or anything though.  I am loving it.
  • kmw611kmw611 member
@BusinessWife ohh sounds yummy!! Flavored seltzer is my fav when pregnant since there isn’t any variety to the water, water, water, decaf coffee I otherwise drink😂.

Not so much a craving but odd combo maybe? I wanted a snack last night but didn’t know what so my husband came back with a bowl of vanilla with fudge swirl ice cream and a bowl of sour cream and cheddar chips figuring he would have whichever one I didn’t want…and then I ate them both together 😬
  • @fuscok88 xD I love it!! tbh that sounds pretty good

I have been having frequent cravings for crunchy things. Kashi cereal is a favorite, but so have been McDonald's chicken nugget happy meals. I have no idea how I can hate the idea of chicken but still want these specific chicken nuggets.
  • @fuscok88 lmao<div><img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/tq/a41xn6uh5wop.gif" alt="">

@chgilmore. It's okay, I don't think it has to make sense...

  • @livingoffpbjs your username has suddenly become VERY applicable and relatable in my house xD
  • @BusinessWife ginger sparkling water? I need this in my life!!
  • Craving spicy food over here. I need allll the salsa.
  • Mango right now... I want it every day!
  • ooh, mangoes @lexilougolden I have a handful of those sitting on my counter actually, I need to dive into...
  • Along the lines of the fruit thing, DH stumbled across these fruit bars at Target.  I think they are called That's it!  Picture like fruit leather for grown ups, or any age really, but a little thicker and nice and soft like a Lara bar or something.  But anyway the flavor he got was apple mango.  It's just apples and mangoes.  That's it!  Of course we could always make our own too, something so simple.  But anyway, I always appreciate finding easy, "clean," snack foods.  Especially for those times when nothing really sounds appealing?  These are really good.

  • @BusinessWife that sounds good!! I'll have to grab some!
  • kmw611kmw611 member
@BusinessWife I got those in a variety pack for my boys at Costco recently and they’re flat out refusing them! These kids go to town on anything with fruit so I’m shocked the entire package is still in my pantry. I figured they were horrible if the kids wouldn’t eat it, they aren’t picky at all. Maybe I’ll have to give them a try (I’m definitely the picky one).

Oh no! @fuscok88 yeah maybe you would like them?  Are they just too "healthy" for the kids' tastes?  Lol DD chewed on a few bites but she is never a big eater anyway.
  • @chgilmore haha yeah, i had a different name when I first started my last bump group but it was like my initials and zipcode and then I became paranoid someone was going to find me and steal my baby when I had her so I changed it to this because at that time its all i could eat.

My pregnant self is not wanting to eat anything right meow. So many aversions. Im choking down a frozen waffle so there is something in my stomach but Im struggling.

  • DH worked late, and I came downstairs to find the last piece of a chicken quesadilla he must have picked up and not finished.  And I am not proud to say that I dove right into that sucker like a mouse who just found free cheese, and now I'm paranoid about food poisoning because it must have been sitting on the counter since he got in at 1AM. 🤦🤦🤦

@BusinessWife maybe but I would be surprised if that’s it. They really love everything. My grocery bill on just fruits and veggies every week is ridiculous (especially when the farmers market is open) I planted everything they love so I’m hoping to cut that down but a deer at my raspberries and roses this week 😭 also you have me cracking up with your description of finding the quesadilla this morning 😂.

@livingoffpbjs ugh I’m sorry! Hopefully it gets easier!

  • @livingoffpbjs girl I feel you. I have so many aversions right now. Nothing tastes or smells good. I’m literally eating jello, water and ginger ale for breakfast because my stomach couldn’t handle my toast. 🙃
  • @BusinessWife surprise quesadilla!!! xD
@livingoffpbjs my pbj needs are specific, like it's fine if I use the healthy rustic grain bread, but what I really want is like, the bunny bread in the yellow packaging or potato bread. but oh man, those waffles are probably plain too :( I'm sorry it's so rough on you!
@photographerwife hoo man, I'm sorry :( I hope it alleviates sooner rather than later!
  • Cracking up at the surprise quesadilla! Also, that BBQ baked potato by @photographerwife may be my supper inspiration tonight.

Yesterday we went to a local brewery for their annual crawfish boil. I'm not really facing aversions yet, so I ate my entire plate of food and most of my 11 month old's because his chicken strips were delicious!

  • @modoodles the potato was so good. Stretchy foods are one of the few things that haven’t betrayed me with aversions and nausea so far. Those potatoes and corn look soo good! I like crawfish, but I don’t like taking it out of their little bodies. 😂

@photographerwife It is sooo much work for just a little bit of meat!

  • *sigh* y'all...this baby is refusing to let me eat anything remotely healthy apart from cereal and peanut butter. the cravings for sweets and aversions to savory are UNREAL. back when I was reading about how to curb cravings, I naively thought to myself "I can totally do this, we have to be healthy" and now I feel like it'll wreck my day if I do not eat a donut.
  • @chgilmore have you tried sweet fruit? I’ve been loving white flesh nectarines and watermelon so far. Fresh food hasn’t given me any aversions though.
  • @photographerwife I definitely started this pregnancy with sweet fruit (mostly mixed berries). it worked for a while until I started getting sick of berries. I do have some oranges and apples that sound fairly appetizing (just, you know, not as appetizing as donuts, lol)
  • @chgilmore donuts are so gross. But my last pregnancy was sustained on peanut clusters. If there's a peanut it has to be kind of healthy... right?
  •  @chgilmore @modoodles I’m currently eating all the peanut butter and peanuts.

@photographerwife Minus the coleslaw, that potato is on my to-make list when I get home.

I have a serious aversion to meat right now that is not making life easy. I had it with ground beef with my last pregnancy, but I can’t eat any of it right now. I have the palate of a 5 year old, so I’m a tad lost right now because I don’t eat most vegetables.
  • @chgilmore I have the opposite feelings... I only want savory and nothing sweet (fruit works though). I went to my parents for FD and they were all eating cakes and I sat there eating potato chips. lol. That's not new for me though, I have always preferred seconds of dinner than having dessert. Spaghetti-- noodles, sauce, parm, and chili flakes have been my latest craving.
