I don't think that one needs to find work that's a passion (like a barometer that I heard was doing something that you would do for free is the right thing).
I like to get in, do my work and get out. If I won the lotto no way would I do any work lol 🤷🏾♀️
@marbellie I agree with that. I specifically chose a career that was NOT along the lines of any of my hobbies because I felt that once my passion became an obligation, I would no longer love doing it.
@marbellie yes!! It’s okay for a job to just be a job. You shouldn’t be miserable there but it doesn’t have to be your passion and dream! I love my job as a lab assistant and people are ALREADY (after only about 3 months) asking if I plan on becoming a scientist one day. They’re shocked when I say no and I’m happy doing what I’m doing now. What??? No promotion to a job you don’t care about doing??? Madness! You must climb the ladder!
I can't think of good UOs anymore. Umm...oh, well I love pigeons. They are very good birds with an undeserved bad reputation. They're amazing creatures really.
@doodleoodle right! Literally was the storyline of the whole family tree.
Also @jackie_dunny, agreed. While I do love my job and that has really worn on me I get the questions on if I'm going to go back to school to become a veterinarian. I'm a vet tech and am good with my role and responsibilities... I'm sure human medicine faces some of the same assumptions as well.
@marbellie I’ve only seen the first movie (which was indeed meh) but I’ve read The Hobbit, The Fellowship of the Ring, and got about half way through Two Towers before I just had to quit. If you think the movies are bad, the books are TERRIBLE! He literally wrote in his forward that he was going to try and write a book to see how long he could make it and see if people would still be interested. So he admits he wasn’t even trying to write a good story, just a long one.
@doodleoodle right? Basically all of the outcomes make sense!
@jackie_dunny I remember trying to read one and I think he spent a whole page describing something mundane like a leaf blowing in the wind so I had to hard pass 😂
I totally agree about GOT. The only thing that bugged me is that they went from being so slow and deliberate with the story/timeline in the beginning to having to jam pack it all in the end, but the actual story totally made sense. I loved the ending.
Yeah, I read the Hobbit as a kid and couldn't get any farther. Didn't hate the movies but agree they were very overhyped.
@doodleoodle I did participate in a wine and chocolate pairing tasting once where the last piece of chocolate was a square of Hershey chocolate that is was in there JUST so we could see after tasting all this real chocolate how awful Hershey really was. Now... I'll still eat it because it is sugar and I've got a sweet tooth, but I'll concede it's not real chocolate nor does it taste anything like real chocolate.
I'll add to the GOT UO that the books actually aren't very good. I enjoyed the story, but the writing style is straight up awful. It has severe pacing issues.. either next to nothing was happening or a million things were happening at once, and the decision to have one of the books split in two... not by chronological order of events, but by character, was a terrible decision.
@doodleoodle totally agree with you on hershey's - it tastes like plastic. I didn't think this was an UO but I realize it might be - I hate hard boiled eggs. I will eat them literally any other way but hardboiled is SO gross
@eggsandwich2019 Your UO is funny because your username is egg related! I agree hard-boiled eggs are gross. I kind of dislike eggs in general though, but I still eat them regularly because they would be hard to avoid and are healthy and whatever. But sometimes when I eat them I gag.
@RoseShadow873@jackie_dunny WHAT MONSTER WOULD PUT HB EGGS IN AN EGG SANDWICH??? Obviously default egg sandwich is an egg breakfast sandwich, as @sliztee surmised. I eat one every morning, pregnant or not lol
Harry Potter is meh, and it makes it worse because JK Rowling is a TERF.
I'm sorry, I cannot agree on Harry Potter. It's a much warranted phenomenon that in my mind miraculously occurred out of thin air since I now dislike JKR 😂
@marbellie For sooooo many years my husband and I have said we didn't believe JK Rowling wrote them because we always disliked her and thought she seemed not smart enough. We had our own conspiracy theory about how she stole the stories from someone else like Professor Lockhart.
This egg sandwich conversation is equal parts ridiculous and hilarious. Everyone knows the best egg sandwich is a runny egg on a toasted bagel with cream cheese.
@doodleoodle I try to only engage in extremely high stakes debates. Also, I had the exact sandwich you just described for breakfast this morning and it was, as usual, extremely delicious

1. Lord of the Rings was very meh.
2. I didn't think that the last season is Game of Thrones ruined the series, it was still objectively a good TV season (compared to most other shows)

@jackie_dunny agree re Instagram. Feel the same about FB and have been off of both for years now.
