Northern California Babies

how's this for a birth story

2nd time mom's water breaks, there's no contractions yet

1 hour later, she has a few cramps, puts them at a 0-1 on the pain scale

1.5 hours later contractions are 4-5 min apart but manageable at a 2-3 on the pain scale

1 hour later, contractions are 2-3 minutes apart, but still about a 3 on the scale

A half hour later, mom grimaces for the first time in response to a contraction, and pushes with the next one

2 minutes later, a happy, healthy baby was born

If only they are were all that easy :)

Re: how's this for a birth story

  • So very jealous.  In the best way possible.  I love that she just grimaced and had a baby.  My SIL was sort of like that.

  • So you're saying that's what is going to happen to me, right? :)
  • I was scared to open this thread because I thought it was going to be nightmarish.  But thank you for posting a rare *easy* birth story!  I knew there had to be at least one out there!  Surprise

  • All my moms birth stories are like that. I totally thought i was going to be the same, in a way i was, with Lexi my water broke and she was breach, i had a c-section before ever having a hard contraction, and then with Orion i elected to have the c-section.

  • Can I request that as my next birth exsperance, please? Or even just vaginal, quick, healthy baby, healthy mommy?

  • I am starting to reach the conclusion that...in general boys labors are less uncomfortable than girls. G was like that, M was not (despite her being #3.)
    Mama to Z - 5.5 years, G - 3.5 years, & M - 1.5 years.
  • *Le sigh*

O's birth wasn't too terrible, but it definitely wasn't that smooth or swift, either!

  • I'm always a bit embarrassed at how easy my births were, because just like pp said, you always expect them to be nightmarish.   So if anyone ever needs a good story (or two)- hit me up!

T- thanks for sharing, I agree that we all need to hear the easy with the hard.

  • One of the women in my Home Birth class was like that.  She was a first time mom and the midwives barely made it!

I am telling all my future children to listen to that story!!!!

  • In the early hours of labor, I heard a woman start screaming in pain in the room next door... and I was like oh no, I can't list to this for the next several hours!  But this is what actually happened:

    Aaaaah!  Aaaah!  AAAAAH!

    Waaaah!!  [baby crying]

I was like OH, so the bad part is really short!  Good to know!  Didn't quite go that way for me, but... nice some people get to have it that way!

    Not in my experience.

Thanks for sharing!  Glad her water broke otherwise I wonder if she would have been alone for the delivery.

  • Wow. While I would not change my birth experience for anything....if I were going to have more kids...I would want that one because 6 hours of pushing is not overly fun...;)

  • This was similar to my birth story with N.  Although my water hadn't broken yet.
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.
