Ages (you and SO): 31
How many months have you been TTC?: 10
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: BBT, OPKs
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) MH & I are teachers and have a dog and a cat! We are finally ready to TTC but haven't had any luck yet.. hopefully it's coming soon! We love hiking & the outdoors.
Welcome back! @fameonmain2 hope the TTC break was good for you both. 😊
@hopingforonemore7 Welcome! We are also trying for No. 3. We have been starting up a weekly TFAS (trying for a sibling / second) thread where members can check in and keep the kid chatter off the regular dailies. If you don't see that started up yet on any particular week, feel free to create the thread!
@hopingforonemore7 Welcome to the community! Hope your stay here is short but sweet. Feel free to jump into the TFAS (trying for a sibling) weekly discussion; also, it sounds like you might have done infertility treatments to conceive your LCs? If it comes to that again, we have a pretty active IF weekly thread.
We just had the “talk” about beginning to try within the next few months. He’s wanted to for a while but we just bought a house together (sooo many projects & $$!) and I had to “get there”. Sone rough past trauma and anxiety of the BIG change a tiny human would bring was something I had to make sure I was ready for and that we were ready for as a couple. (My family is all about the “steps”... marriage THEN baby... but I feel even if the order isn’t “correct” to them, it will be what is meant for us. We want to get married too but one thing at a time)!
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?:
I’m stopping my BC after this pack... and then Going with the “motions”kind of feel iffy just stopping the BC in the middle.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.)
neither of us have children but we have a beautiful dog- he's 140 lbs of energy and thinks he’s a lap dog. I love everything dogs. My job is super stressful at times but i love working in the field I am in! My biggest fear is that at this point i do not want to work full time after baby- but finances might not allow that (darn student loans!) he’s a hard worker, and says we can swing it but I’m a huge planner. Together, we like spending time with family, four wheeling, hunting (I know hunting is not for everyone and I apologize if i offend anyone with that- we were both raised around hunters) and just being our goofy selves! My favorite shows are Greys Anatony & this is us. All time favorite books/ movies are HP! After all this time... I will always love HP!
My sis has PCOS, and had a difficult time conceiving but she’s got a beautiful baby now <3 which is also a concern of mine although I don’t have signs of having PCOS, I know my BC can mask the signs.
I am really here to learn more about what the future will bring so it isn’t as “scary” to me. Hoping to build our family soon!!! I admire all the mamas and mamas to be, and those wanting to be mamas more than anything. the idea of creating a life and raising the children is something beautiful :) y’all are AWESOME!!!!
@knottie25097ccf6eb46311 welcome! hope your stay with us will be short and sweet someone will probably pop in with directions on how to do this, but definitely look into making a custom username so you're easier to tag! it sounds like you're in a big but exciting transitional time
@chgilmore thank you so much for the advice!! I have changed my username in settings but it doesn’t m seem to appear yet. Hmph. Maybe it takes a bit to kick in?? Thank you- It has taken some time to get to where I am and with a little more practice with “letting go” of the reigns and going with the flow(I looked around on some other posts and that seems to be what a lot are doing) little by little hopefully the pieces fall Into place :)
@knottie25097ccf6eb46311 Welcome! You actually have to sign in at The Knot (not The Bump) and change your username for it to work I believe. Someone else may have better/more specific instructions though. You can always search the threads, cause I know this gets brought up often. Also, KUDOS to actually deciding to FINISH your pack of BC pills before trying. The number of people who stop mid-pack and have crazy issues and then ask us for advice here is astounding! So...

Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) I'm TTC #2; our kiddo is 2 1/2. I'm a technical writer currently WFH because of the pandemic; we have one elderly cat; and the only hobby my brain has space for at the moment is the podcast I host with my best friend. I lurked these boards during my last TTC journey, and I'll likely lurk again, but also wanted to say hello, introduce myself, before slipping back into the shadows to lurk.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: BBT, OPKs, tracking on FF
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) I live in the Midwest with my husband, 2.5 year old and a rescue dog. MH and I have both been working from home during the pandemic and while it’s been stressful at times, it’s been great to have more time together. We’ve spent a lot of time on house projects which we both enjoy. I design, he does most of the work :) We are TTC #2 and starting later than we originally would have wanted because of my fears of being pregnant in a pandemic. I’ve had to work through some of those emotions and overall am just really excited to grow our family. I’ve been lurking on here a few weeks and have already learned a lot- figured I would join in on the conversation.
@chgilmore I've always enjoyed lurking! It's nice to know others are doing this journey, and we all have different experiences and expectations, but we aren't alone.
That said, could someone please tell me how to do the spoiler thing in a post? I've been sitting here for hours trying to figure it out in case I want to occasionally post in the threads and be respectful of others and mindful of the community rules. (I tend to be a learn by doing, so if I make a mistake, I'll edit and learn, and it does not come from a place of flippancy.)
@beakay8 in the line above the post box, there's a symbol between the "A" and the "smiley" - click it and choose "spoiler". note that to make it a separate line or paragraph you'll need to Enter down a line or so and you may have to fiddle with it a bit
@acleverusername Thanks for also letting me know about that option; I haven't seen that around yet this time lurking. :) I really appreciate this community making it a point to be really respectful and mindful of others' in this way, and want to be sure I'm doing that, too.
@beakay8@acleverusername I think the newbies have a probationary period where they aren't allowed to post GIFs, so maybe the same applies for spoilers too? I notice tags don't work either. It used to be that newbies were forced to lurk for a certain period of time before they were even allowed to post, but now it would seem that they let you post right away but restrict you in other ways.
