Re: STM+ Check-in 3/13

  • How far along are you? 4 weeks and something days... lol I honestly wouldn’t even remember I’m 4 weeks if it wasn’t for The Bump

Any new symptoms? Nausea. I’m trying to appreciate it though.

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? I have a dating scan in a month

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? 3- 5 years, 3 years and 1 year.

How are your other kids doing this week? I think my youngest might be able to sense that I’m pregnant, like an animal can. Is that a thing? She’s super clingy. And honestly o think that was true with dd1 when I was pregnant with dd2. Other children are status quo

    Concerns/Questions:

GTKY: What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? Outside! I try to take the kids on a long walk and spend time with them playing outside every day.

    marbellieMarz1pan
  • How far along are you? 5w2d

Any new symptoms? Just tired, intermittent mild nausea and now my boobs are sore (although not nearly as bad as my first pregnancy).

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? Not until Wednesday

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? 1-3yo son

How are your other kids doing this week? He’s a mess, but that’s normal for us 😆. It’s spring break here so his MDO is closed and I work a bunch this week, so that’s going to be super fun for my mom (she keeps him while I work). Hopefully the weather is nice

    Concerns/Questions: none right now

GTKY: What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? What’s a day off? We love going to the zoo or the Gathering Place (it’s a giant park). My son is train obsessed and sometimes we just go to the zoo to ride the train. If I’m by myself, there’s usually coffee and a trip to Target.

  • How far along are you? 4ish weeks

Any new symptoms? Not really threw up the other day- I always get hyperemisis

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? Boy 3 yo and a boy 1 year old

How are your other kids doing this week? Little one is teething but he’s me sunshine boy always happy. Older one is doing good in speech he’s got a delay and he’s been working really hard.

Concerns/Questions: TW it’s just so surreal I keep getting pregnant I was told I couldn’t. I keep feeling like it’s not real. My anxiety is so bad that I’ll lose the pregnancy because they always say I just may never ovulate again I don’t get to “try again”. END TW

GTKY: What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? Well I’m a stay at home mom so I’m going to go with what I like to do when my husband is with the kids. I like to get my nails done with friends or go to the spa.

    sliztee
  • @mkp0903 oh we have zoo memberships too! It’s so fun. Does your son like the show chuggington?

@doodleoodle omg I never though of them being able to sense pregnancy both my kiddos have been very clingy too.
    doodleoodle
  • How far along are you? 4ish weeks

Any new symptoms? Nope. I’m just very tired

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? Not yet. I don’t think I’ll be seen till 8-10wks anyway

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? Three. 7, 5, 3.

How are your other kids doing this week? They are doing good. It’s finally nice outside so they spend nearly the entire day outside

    Concerns/Questions: I don’t believe so.

GTKY: What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? What’s that? Jk. I’m a SAHM. I love doing family stuff together when DH is off. Or if for some crazy reason I’m alone I’d love drinking a coffee in the quiet.

  • @daisy0322 oh, yes! He loves Chuggington, Thomas, and sometimes we just watch YouTube videos of “real trains.” He also asks to watch the Polar Express all the time, and when March hit, I had to just start saying it only can come on at Christmas.
    KNB1027
  • @mkp0903 awe that’s so sweet. My DS1 loves blippi and anything to do with puppies. It’s so fun once they start having interests of their own!
    mkp0903
  • @daisy0322 yeah, this stage is fun! I’m honestly not a baby person, and I loved my son to pieces when he was a baby, but I truly enjoy being a toddler mom. I can’t wait to have a sibling for him.

  • How far along are you? 6 weeks today

Any new symptoms? Everything smells 🤢

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? 3/29 for gender blood draw and 4/9 for first dr appt

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? One son, just turned one

How are your other kids doing this week? My son recently started walking. Since then, he’s into EVERYTHING! Ive locked most of my cabinets and drawers, but he knows which ones are still open. He’s also tall enough to open doors 🙃 I have handles on my doors, not knobs, so there aren’t many options for locking them and I don’t want to use 3m tape for fear it might ruin the paint. So I’ve got to get some baby gates ASAP and pray for some patience. At least he’s cute 😂

Concerns/Questions: moms with both genders - With my son, I had very mild symptoms. I had a very mild upset stomach from 6-9 weeks and oily skin and that was it. This time around, the sense of smell and nausea is through the roof and started at 4 weeks. I feel like I smell awful and my BO is out of control. My skin is also drier that a desert. Could that be a sign it’s a different gender? 🤞🏻

GTKY: What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?  Do people get days off? Lol I stay home with my son, so usually time to myself involves grocery shopping, or taking a nap. Sometimes I like to read.

  • @tmk2021 I have two boys but I wanted to say I was sicker than a dog both times and actually threw up so much I passed out. And this time I’m already nauseous but other than that I feel entirely different too!
    tmk2021
  • How far along are you? 6 weeks tomorrow

Any new symptoms? Nausea is picking up but its not too bad yet, my boobs are suddenly pretty sore too

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? Labs tomorrow but that's it. Hopefully my levels are good enough to schedule my first u/s

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they?  1 boy, he's 4.

How are your other kids doing this week? Good, we are trying to not tell him about this pregnancy just yet.  The worst part of the last loss was trying to explain it to him, but he's starting to catch on and its a full time job just trying to vaguely answer questions and constantly change the subject 😆

    Concerns/Questions: none right now

GTKY: What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? Just relaxing and spending time together as a family.  We've been playing a lot of toddler friendly board games lately.

    Marz1pan
  • @artsiefartsie I’m worried about mine catching on as well. My 3 year old has already told me I need to go to the doctor lol

@tmk2020 I’m stinking it up over here, too. I feel like at the end of the day I smell like a giant walking vagina 😂

It looks like we have quite a few sahm’s.  I’m one as well  this’ll be a fun little group
    daisy0322tmk2021
  • @doodleoodle I love meeting other sah moms. I feel like there’s not very many of us there days
  • @daisy0322 same! I only know one other sahm in real life.
  • @doodleoodle I know 3. 1 I’m really good friends with and 1 we hang out some times. The other one though drives me crazy screaming at her kids when they legit are doing nothing wrong.
  • @daisy0322 that’s nice that you’re friends with two of them! As for the other, it’s so easy to martyr yourself and get burnt out when you stay at home. Sounds like she needs a break! I’m not close with the sahm I know. Not because she screams at her kids though lol she’s one of those people that doesn’t seem like a real person to me. She has 6 children, an impossibly tidy home, and cooks extravagant meals. There’s nothing wrong with any of that, but I’m what you would would consider to be... a hot mess. 😂 we just don’t vibe. I’m so laid back.
  • @doodleoodle yes girl lol I feel that. My house is usually a little messy the kids are usually barefoot in the back yard and usually I cook things that can go in a crockpot. You are my people 😂
    doodleoodle
  • @daisy0322 yeeeesssss. When you basically live outside with the kids it’s hard to make time for trivial things like dusting and cooking anything that can’t be popped into the crockpot or oven. I mean, my house is clean but is my pantry super organized? Ehhh not so much lol

Side note though- I have successfully made dusting, cleaning the baseboards, and wiping down the cabinets a game for my 5 year old and 3 year old. I have zero shame 😂
    [Deleted User]jackie_dunnysliztee
  • @doodleoodle nice! I got mine to love doing dishes and vacuuming haha. However I’ve felt like crap for a few days and my husband’s been home from work so he’s been cleaning it looks so nice now. Other than he’s been working in putting in a hardwood floor since July

  • How far along are you?  6w+3 (I think?)

Any new symptoms? Just nauseous and tired all day. Super fun while trying to work (at least I can work from home)

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? Dating ultrasound is on 3/26

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? I have one son, he turned 2 in late Feb

How are your other kids doing this week? He's cheerful as can be. But that's just how he is in general. Also obsessed with the 1980s Thomas. I got him some little Thomas trains for his train set and I don't know if he'll ever get over them haha

    Concerns/Questions:

GTKY: What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? Tea and a good book, or taking a nice walk. I'm a pretty low key person, especially in the pandemic lol

    el_3
  • How far along are you?: 7 weeks today.

    Any new symptoms?: Nope.

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go?: My first ultrasound is a week from Wednesday :)

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they?: 1, his name is Arlo and he's 2.5

How are your other kids doing this week?: He's pretty bored, I think. Between crappy weather and a super tired mom, he hasn't had many opportunities of getting his energy out these days. Hopefully spring will come soon.

    Concerns/Questions: Nope

GTKY: What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?: I'm a pretty lazy person in the cold months, so I really enjoy a parent-free day in bed with books and/or TV. When it's warm out, I like to work in the yard and refinish furniture.

How far along are you? 6w+0d

Any new symptoms? I don't know to what extent it's the hormones, the clock changes, or my toddler's night wakings but holy fatigue, Batman! I felt pretty good when I woke up at 7am but if I weren't working, I definitely could have taken a nap starting at 10.

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? Nothing until April

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? One 2-year-old

How are your other kids doing this week? Outside of having severe FOMO and strategizing ways to get out of going to daycare, my kiddo's been doing well.

    Concerns/Questions:

GTKY: What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? Unless I'm going somewhere for a vacation, it's hard for me to take a true day off. If I have the day off work and watching my toddler, I usually try to catch up on housework. But if I didn't have to work, my child was being looked after, and the house was perfectly clean and organized (hahaha) I'd like to go for a walk and then sit at home enjoying some tea or coffee and reading a good book (@eggsandwich2019 sounds like we are two peas!). And a nap... but I usually hate taking naps so I think that's my fatigue talking.

  • How far along are you? 6w 4d

Any new symptoms? Suddenly nauseated all the time. Exhausted. Sore boobs. Cardio exercise is harder.

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? I haven't called my doctor yet. I experienced a loss in October, and I'm coming more slowly into this pregnancy. I have it on my calendar to call when I am 7 weeks and we'll see if I can do it.

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? One son, he's 4 years old

How are your other kids doing this week? Four is proving to be a tough age, as my very sweet and compliant kid becomes more headstrong and a bit of a constant class-clown. We are holding off on telling him until after the first trimester. He was really heart broken by the loss in the fall.

GTKY: What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? Far and away hiking. I am from the PNW so it has been a part of my life since childhood--I make do with what Texas has to offer.

How far along are you? 6w+3

Any new symptoms? No, just tired and bloating for now

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? 4/1

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? N/A, first pregnancy

Concerns/Questions: I know we are early along, but for those of you who have previously been pregnant: any advice for shielding/responding to inappropriate comments or questions? Trying to prepare myself in advance for what may come - I’ve heard that people say strange things! 🤪

GTKY: What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? Hiking or exploring the outdoors! I also enjoy reading a good book.

  • @leigh_4 Most people just ask how far along you are, when you’re due, boy or girl, etc. I was also asked, far too often I might add, if it was a planned or surprise pregnancy. Creepy.

  • @leigh_4 Mostly I just had issues with people grabbing my stomach or weird comments about my size or that my boobs had grown 🙃 Thankfully most people just ask the basics and a offer congrats, but just be aware that some people think pregnancy is open season to comment about inappropriate physical changes lol

@sliztee why is it that people think that is an appropriate question?
"Yep, Aunt Karen, my husband has been raw dogging it for months now, so it was kind of expected" 🙄🙄

    EXACTLY.

Thank you! Wow, that is really creepy and inappropriate. I’ll have to mentally prep for that question.

  • How far along are you? 5+9

Any new symptoms? No, not really.

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? Not yet

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? 1 son, recently turned 2

How are your other kids doing this week? He's been waking up multiple times a night lately.. we think it's nightmares, poor guy.

Concerns/Questions: Oddly enough, no. Lack of symptoms last time around had me being a nervous wreck. I'm much calmer this time, thankfully.

GTKY: What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? Curling up under a blanket and watching movies.

@slitzee That question caught me totally off guard when I was pregnant with my first! The things people think are ok to ask/say to someone who is pregnant blow my mind. If I could hide my bump the whole nine months to avoid unsolicited comments, I would.

  • How far along are you? 5 +2

Any new symptoms? The water in the shower is hurting my boobs!

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go?  Not until 8.5 weeks

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? 2 boys: 4y and almost 2y

How are your other kids doing this week? My 4 year old keeps pushing on my stomach... I wonder if he overheard us talking about the new baby.

Concerns/Questions: How much crazier is it going to be when we’re outnumbered by our kids?? 🤪

GTKY: What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?  Getting a massage or a mani / pedi! But I’ve been pretty cautious about covid and haven’t gotten either in a year 😫.

Yeah, I had a complete stranger walk up to my friend and I who were both around 6-7 months and say, “well, I know what you two have been doing.” Gross. Also, the belly touching is not my jam. I have a wide personal bubble and I don’t know why complete strangers or people I know casually think they can touch my stomach. Some women don’t mind, but I do. Also, someone at work just asked me in front of like 5 other people if I was pregnant yet. That’s so inappropriate!! 😡 I feel like I’m heading into b-fest or TW territory here...

Ahh that’s awful! People are so inappropriate. I have a wide personal bubble as well, I would not want anyone randomly touching me either!

  • @mkp0903 What the heck? What goes on in these people's minds that leads them to the conclusion that these are ok things to say? It reminds me of this one time, I was in a public restroom and I locked eyes with another woman who was obviously pregnant (I was also obviously pregnant at the time). We washed our hands and left the bathroom without saying a word to each other. No pregnancy small-talk. It was like this mutual quiet understanding that we'd both had enough of that by that point. I'm sure there are plenty of pregnant people who would have preferred to turn that into a social moment but not acknowledging between strangers that either of us was pregnant was a breath of fresh air for me.
@leigh_4 Totally with everyone who doesn't want belly touches. Luckily I only had close family or friends ask to touch my belly (and they had the decency to ask first!). No strangers tried to touch my belly, thank goodness, I'd have killed them. My personal thought is that if it would be weird for you to touch my belly before I was pregnant, it would probably be weird for you to touch my belly while I'm pregnant. I know there's a baby in there, but it's still my body you're touching.
    artsiefartsiemkp0903KNB1027
  • @amostpeculiarmlle 🙌🙌 the "no words needed" acknowledging head nod is the best!

And right? Consent is a thing,  don't touch my body! I don't care if there is another life in there,  if you didn't help put it in there than back the hell up!
