Re: **TW: Spotting/Bleeding/Threatened Loss Support

  • @agea unfortunately I still don't have the answers for that. Maternal Fetal Medicine seems to be notoriously slow to respond to referrals (even those marked urgent) and will only talk to the doctors (and their offices?) directly about appt scheduling. I'll go hound my midwives tomorrow. I think I've already called them 20+ times this week alone. The appt that MFM scheduled me for when I was at 12w is for April 6, but they mentioned to my midwife that they wanted me in sooner than that now.
This all just feels so bizarre. Like I went into my 12 w ultrasound thinking I would be laughed out of there for wondering if I had a short cervix again, and instead I've turned into a high risk pregnancy even though I feel completely fine.

  • @sleepydaze hoping you get in soon and have some peace of mind.
  • @sleepydaze I’m late here but happy to read your updates. That’s so frustrating on so many levels but it seems like constantly advocating for yourself (and your baby) is starting to pay off. I wish it were easier for you but I’m glad to see it’s moving in the right direction!
  • Another update...
The hospital OB on call, who is more of an expert, told my midwife she wants me on immediate bedrest until they get another look at me (I thought they didn't do bedrest anymore?) and no cerclage unless I hit 1.5cm. Instead she wants me to start vaginal progesterone immediately rather than at week 16. And they're not sure if there will be another ultrasound before April 6 after all.
As an active individual and having 2 active littles at home, this is pretty lame news for me. Thankfully I have IL who can help keep the kids entertained pretty much whenever I need but one has boundary issues and thinks if a rule applies to one, it applies to all (so I don't want them wandering into our suite whenever they're "bored" at 645 AM or 8 AM etc). Hopefully the next OB or MFM doctor says bedrest is unnecessary for now. I got a tentative appt with the favorite OB at the hospital on Monday so will see what he says.
But come on... bedrest at 14 weeks??
  • @sleepydaze I was on bedrest the last 2 pregnancies I had. Starting at 6 weeks until 15 weeks. *TW I ended up losing one baby at 14 weeks. Then I got pregnant again and I had the same issue I had with my loss (SCH) and was on bedrest again. I had a total of almost 30 weeks of bedrest between those pregnancies.
  • @sleepydaze I would be pushing hard for a cerclage. What if your cervix shrinks to far that they can’t do one? I would not be comfortable waiting.
  • @emeraldcity1214 thanks for your support and encouragement. I'm sorry to hear of your loss, and 30 weeks of bedrest is crazy.
Yeah I definitely wish they gave me a cerclage 2 weeks ago when I felt like I was lower risk for the surgery. Without a history of losse, it seems like they just wait for emergent cerclage situations. I'll ask the OB to explain their reasoning on Monday as it seems bizarre that the OBs seem to change their minds about it so frequently. They so far have said they think there's a higher chance of miscarriage with the cerclage in my situation.
  • @sleepydaze I would try to stay laying down as much as possible. Ask your in-laws to come over daily while your husband is working. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. We watched lots of movies and the kids had toys strolled all over me and the couch. It was ideal but it worked.
