DS is Payton Xander and DD is Lillian Harper. I really wanted to use the name Isla but DH hates it haha. We are team green but I think it's a girl in which case I think we are going with Emery Quinn and if it's a boy Rowan Emery. Either way we are using Emery lol.
We had three names for girls which are Penelope, Victoria and June.
But it looks like baby is a boy so we are focusing on these options at the moment.
Dimitri (why in TW in spoiler) Leo - super popular where we are Leon - the next door baby's name is Leon Leonidas (I would prefer to go with Leo or Leon, but SO says it would be short for Leonidas) Theo Giannis (pronounced Yani - If we ever go with this I would push for a more phonetic spelling)
I feel like I've spelled my name my whole life so that is a concern to me. I know baby will have to spell his last name so I want a first name that has an intuitive spelling.
TW in spoiler
So my fiancé is Greek and tradition is to name the first born son like the father's father, which is Dimitri in our case. As some of you know, we lost our first son at 20 weeks pregnancy last June. At the time, my fiancé didn't want to name him Dimitri, so we named our baby another meaningful name. We are hesitant about using Dimitri this time, so we are also considering other options. I think I am open to go both ways. I was ok not naming our first Dimitri, because it would be impossible to pursue tradition from there, as the baby didn't live outside of my womb. I know my fiancé also mentioned that at a point he felt like Dimitri had died, so he was unsure to name our next boy Dimitri. I really like that name and would have loved to use it, but if we don't I am ok with it too, as I'm also not sure if I feel weird about it.
@ec1212 I really like Beatrice, I have an aunt and we call Bea. But DH doesn’t.
I finally got to talk to DH about names, we found out it’s a girl on Monday morning right before he went out of town for work. He just got home and we’ve narrowed it down to Maya or Mia.
We have been parents for a while, and as time goes on, some names get spoiled or don’t worm in one way or another. I really like the name Stella (my fav aunt!), but there was a girl named Stella in my daughter’s class that was pretty mean to her. Plus most of the names are already in use in our family. I thought Maria would be a nice classic Spanish name that you don’t hear little girls being called much anymore. Both DH and my grandmothers are Maria, unfortunately, so is DH’s ex. Eek.
My husband's top girls name is currently Hope. However I had a complicated best friend named Hope and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Also, I prefer names to words.
His top three are Faith, Hope, and Joy (happens to be my sister's middle name) Along that trend, nice word names include Mercy, Grace, Esperanza.
@yellingbanana We're both high school teachers and needless to say, many names remind us of our students.
@ruby0902 I LOVE that name! Dream name for me (Isabela Anne)
I really like the name Isabela, but I know I can't use it, my husband doesn't like it and I want to use a different type of name. And Anne as a middle name runs in my family, my sister and my mom. So I will live my dreams through you. Such a wonderful name.
My daughters are Livia Kay and Jade Michelle. Both middle names are after a family member.
I love the names Layton, Levi, Cade, and Gage- but we can't use Cade because my daughter is named Jade. I even think Gage might be too close. I also worry Levi is too close to Livia? But part of me doesn't think that one is a big deal. The middle name will definitely be Joseph- it's a family name on my Dad's side. TW- My Mom and Dad lost a baby to SIDS and he was Andrew Joseph. My Dad passed this past March and his middle name was Joseph. I have another brother named Joseph Andrew!
As of right now DH is leaning towards Levi and I'm leaning more towards Layton. Both feel right and like either of them could be it!
I think we are set on Mia Rosa. Rosa is my mil’s name, she had 4 boys, and desperately wanted a girl. Her youngest was born in 1990 and they had their first ultrasound ever, and were told it was a girl! But he wasn’t, it was a big surprise when he was born, lol! His room was all pink and everything! Anyways, she is a great mil, and we don’t get to see her as much as my mom because she lives on the other side of the state, over a big mountain pass.
My children’s names: Ana, Evelyn, Lucas, and soon to be Mia! I’m so excited!
@texas_t thank you! The second name was a lot easier to pick out than I expected. I think we were there within 5 minutes of me getting home from my appointment.
I don’t want to repeat first initials so Nolan and Henry are out. We were team green with out last daughter and her name was going to be Gannon. I’m still stuck on it.
We had originally decided on Jonah but my friend kept using it in a sentence and I just didn't like the way it sounded. So, when we got confirmation that it was a boy, we decided on Eli. Our other two boys have family names as middle names, so, with this kiddo, we decided to go with my dad's name (who passed away in 2017) which is Frederic. His dad, my grandpa, was also named that, so it's honoring two people I love and miss!
@texas_t they all sound perfect together! Love Eli Fredrick. I would love to use my moms middle name who passed away in 2011 but her name is Robin, and we are kinda set on Margot as a first name. Margot Robin sounds too much like the actress Margot Robbie lol, so we are going to use Margot Genevieve - Genevieve after his mom who likely doesn’t have much time left due to and Alzheimers. I think family names as middle names are so special!
@yellingbanana my fiancé is Mexican/Italian, it’s neither of those but feels like a good compromise haha! Our boy names were very Spanish and our girl list was Margot, Genevieve and Cecilia. But I think they go great with my other girls, Isabella and Rosalee.
Since we’re team green, and we need two names, I’m really struggling!!! I can’t pick a boy name that I feel passionate about. Other than naming after relatives (William (call him Liam), Joseph) we only have a couple options: Lucas (or Luke) and Thomas. I like those names but they don’t make me feel super excited. Is that normal? Maybe it’s just easier to get excited about girl names since I do hope for a girl. Cecilia Grace and Alice (not sure on middle) are our top.
Your lists are all so helpful! I’m just sort of ranting about my indecision and my attitude about boy names.
@ccmrc143 we've kind of always struggled with boy names! We had a boy name and a girl name before we even ever got pregnant wo begin with but I fell super out of love with the boy name and that happened again before this pregnancy. On the other hand, I've come up with a ton of girl names I love. That being said, I do really love the two boy names we have for these little guys but I swear there is just something about boy names that's so much harder.
That's so funny because I've never ever found a girl name I was settled on. This pregnancy I was horrified bc I was like, what if I have to name a girl!!!!?????
I love reading all these ideas for names! I used to work with children (mostly kids with behavioral disorders) so I have a hard time finding names I like because so many of them are ruined for me My husband is pretty set on having a Jr., so if it's a boy it will be Kenneth James. I hate the thought of him being called Kenny though! For a girl, our top choice right now is Rosalind Mary, after our grandmothers. Leaning towards Rose/Rosie as a nickname, rather than Roz (Rose also happens to be my other grandmother's middle name!)
@texas_t I love Frederic...Fredrick was on our short list of names for DS. @brynn_mamaof4 I also love family names, especially for middle names. Genevieve is really a nice middle name for Margo! I think Robin would work as well, I don't really worry about things being close to celebs 🤣. Our son is Thomas Jeffrey (TJ) named after both our dads and DH's uncle calls his Thomas Jefferson 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏻♀️
@nsk489 I have a Rosalee and we mostly call her Rosie! It fits her to a T and everyone thinks it’s just so cute. @spartan4life Thomas Jeffrey is classically cool, though haha! I’d be okay with that. Very cute. One of my good friends growing up was TJ.
Help a girl out. I don’t know what I want to do for a middle name. First name will be Bennett. My mom wants us to use the middle name Carlos in memory of my brother. My sister used his first name Adam as her sons middle name. My daughter is Felicity Joy

@mkc3888 you could go with an English variant of Carlos and use Charles? My FIl is named Guillermo and we used the English variant William for a middle name.
