My H just judged me hard for eating most of a box of cookies that he opened at the end of last week. I’m pregnant and they are delicious, what can I say?
Sorry to have been MIA last week. Two big kids and being pregnant with prepping for a road trip and family/maternity pictures definitely didn’t leave me with a lot of spare time. I’m catching up today though.
Also, last night MH offered me a Swiss cake roll and then said, “oops it’s a zebra cake”... those are not the same at all. 🤣😣🤦🏻♀️
I had a fetal echo in a town about 45 miles away and I did it sans hubs & kids (cuz, you know, COVID) and I stopped at Taco John’s and shamelessly ate a large potatoe ole and nacho cheese. It. Was. Heaven. now, I want a zebra cake.....
Went thrifting today after work. Found a few deals, a few not-deals, and decided my patience for the general public is drastically declining.
Store 1: Listened to a mom complain to her kids about (someone) not finding out the sex of the baby and that it was *too*hard* to buy anything and that the store had nothing gender neutral. Woe is her, she'll have to wait until the baby is born, etc. etc. Me, being #teamgreen, was concerned for like half a second, and then proceeded to smugly walk out with several gender neutral purchases that I located and decided I wanted. They had plenty left on the racks/shelves, but apparently none were to her liking.
Store 3: Near anxiety-attack from people invading my bubble. We're in the middle of a pandemic, people. You can let me shop for baby clothes in the corner of the store by myself where there was NO ONE at when I arrived without hitting me with your cart or being close enough where I could probably feel your breaths through your mask if you were facing me. Had to resist the urge to curse at lady #2 and tell her to back up. Maybe next time I will.
Store 4: Found a decent Graco Pack-n-Play, but passed because I thought it was too expensive. I think it was the Simple Solutions, which retails for $70, but they wanted ~$50 for it, which is what the basic playyard goes for new. I don't particularly care about the changer that comes with the SS, so if I was going to spend $50 on a used one I might as well just order one on Amazon for $49.99, or leave it as a registry item.
@WildMagelet i agree about the pnp - we went with the most basic one when i had to rush out and buy one when our car broke down out of town last time with ds and i don’t regret it. I was looking at the nicer/fancier ones but the basic is perfect. Might as well get new if you’re gonna spend that much
my mom had her surgery Tuesday and she is doing well. Busy balancing visiting her (as I’m the only one allowed in her whole stay), taking her dogs out and feeding them, working and a toddler still. This week has been busy. She is coming home Friday but I’m off sat Sunday mon so that will be good to get her settled in.
@PinkKathryn12 I'm glad that her surgery went well! Does she need further treatment after this, or are they hopeful that surgery is all she'll need? I'm glad you get a three-day weekend to help get her settled. I hope you get a chance to relax during it, too. Sounds like after the week you've had, you fully deserve some time to yourself.
@hannahbananas11 the dr said originally that she might need chemo radiation or it might be solved totally by the surgery but we won’t know until we get the biopsy results back. However, after the surgery she said that it looked pretty clear and contained just from her observation so we are hoping! Luckily my boss is great so that has made it easier to balance, but I am pretty worn out!
I took my son to 2 different trunk or treats this weekend. He absolutely loved it and it was worth it to me. We were outside and maintained distance so I don’t regret it at all. I think it is a very personal decision. I have some friends that aren’t doing anything and others that are acting like normal. I’m kind of in the middle.
Friday night we have a Halloween party with our youth group kids. There will probably be less than 20 ppl, all masked. Saturday morning I think we are going to my SIL’s house for a couple activities with DS’s cousins.
We might trick or treat down our street (just a few houses... but maybe not) but otherwise we will probably drive to my parents and trick or treat at a few houses around there of our friends (who we know are responsible).
We will be leaving a bowl out on the porch and not answering the door for trick or treaters.
