@forevertired Both my 8 week and 12 week ultrasounds were abdominal!
@bbrahmbhatt Ughh those tests SUCK! I understand their utility, but seriously it's like torture. I am seriously hoping I just squeaked in under the cut off. I checked and their cut off is 135 though (not 140 like I thought) so it seems unlikely.
@forevertired my 11 week (what we thought was 10 week) was trans-abdominal and we could see baby clear as day, see and hear the heart, and check the other needed bits and pieces, so yours should be over your belly too at 13 weeks.
Had my 15wk appt today, HR was 141 and baby was wiggling around. It is too early for the quad screen, so I'll go back in a week for that plus a visit with the OB to check how my meds are regulating. I recently started on Zoloft after recognizing I was just not okay mentally/emotionally, and after DH pointed out some things that hint to depression. Looking forward to getting back to feeling like myself.
I had my 12 week last week Friday (the 9th) heartbeat was “around the 150s” but it seemed like the nurse had a hard time holding onto it. Baby was pretty deep in there! But it was a super fast appointment and no ultrasound. I wished I could have seen baby more human especially since my initial appointment was fast and the ultrasound was really fast then too. It was basically a “yep that’s a baby in there.” But they don’t really seemed concerned about anything I guess so that’s something. My next appointment I’ll be 16 weeks and I’m not sure if they will do the anatomy scan or make me wait a few more weeks. I’ll be 19 weeks the week of Thanksgiving and hoped to know boy or girl before Black Friday for shopping reasons!
Just got home from my appt and everything looks good Baby was wiggling all over, measuring right on track 13+5, heart rate was 148 bpm and looked to be studying his/hers fingers. It was an interesting appt, my ob had a student doing his rounds with him which honestly was a huge win! All my other appts have been rushed but they took their time doing the ultrasound today and pointing things out.. for learning purposes it seemed but I wasn’t complaining. Lol. Also, was told to schedule my rhogam shot for end of January now and that my next appt at 16 weeks will be a genetic screening by blood and a different ultrasound scan appt. I feel late to the game on those hearing so many of you ladies have had these done already. Curiously, any other rh- mamas in this group?
@mamabee1113 Good for you for noticing you were a bit off and getting it looked into! Yay for a good appt as well
@theletlers I’m sorry your appts have been so fast.. my first three were like that. It’s frustrating but I’m glad you’re looking on the bright side of there being no concerns
bluey101321 I am A-. Luckily enough DD was born 0-. I don't remember if they did my Rhogram shot during my first pregnancy, I assume so since it is standard practice. For my current pregnancy, they will give me the Rhogram at 28 weeks.
I love my new hospital, also it's actually a new hospital built in July! We have 3 doctors we rotate through, since we live in such a small population now. The nurse coordinator works with all three doctors and is already advocating for me and made sure we found a heartbeat at the appointment.

This is the same time we found our missed misscarriage years ago, so I was very anxious at this appointment and they all knew. The doctor couldn't find the heartbeat on doppler so he brought in a portable ultrasound and we found it at 150 bpm! ❤️ I'm so thankful, we were finally able to tell everyone about the pregnancy and I'm feeling a whole lot better about everything. I'm still anxious, but I started talking to the baby and we gave the baby nicknames as a family. It's all a whole lot more real, even if I'm still in a little bit of disbelief. We definitely didn't expect to get pregnant this soon after the vasectomy reversal and to have everything work out. I'm a little bummed that he put the due date back again, so I'm 11 weeks 6 days, but oh well. What's a few days in the grand scheme of things?
Had my first appt this morning finally. Took a while but she was able to catch the little nugget on doppler and got a 155 heart rate. Seemed like such an anticlimactic appt but so thankful to have heard that sweet sound!
Had my 12 week NT ultrasound on Tues and had the NIPT and genetic carrier screening bloodwork done. Should hear back next week on the gender and genetic results! Ultrasound look good and it was fun to see him/her again. I've been thinking boy since we found out we were expecting but then I saw the ultrasound and thought it looked like a she. Anyone hear of the 'Nub Theory'..? I spent too much time googling about it last night but it's supposed to be pretty accurate. Although i couldn't even see the 'nub' in the photos so I guess i'll have to wait until next week. DH wasn't allowed to come but they took some video clips of the ultrasound and put it on a thumbdrive for him which was a nice touch.
I only had the 'big 3' done for carrier screening with my first pregnancy (SMA, CF, and Fragile X) but this time around opted for the full panel. I felt both times that the genetic counselor wasn't super helpful in helping me make the decision of whether to do it or not. I know it's not required and its totally a personal decision but I just like the straight facts and guidance! I figure if and when we go for #3 I'll be facing the same decision then, so just got it over with. My counselor said that 40-50% of women DO get a positive for something....I thought that was really high!!
I had my 12 week apt today. I brought my 4 year old daughter since she has been begging me to come for the past few weeks. I though that they might do an ultrasound, but they just verified babe's heart beat with a doppler. 160 BPM. When my daughter found out that she wouldn't be able to see "baby sister" via ultrasound during the visit, she dramatically crumbled to the floor and sobbed "babyyyy sisssterrr" and then sobbed the whole way back home. Needless to say, I will NOT be bringing her to my next appointment lol.
My doctor was asking if I wanted to do a test that would tell how big a chance we had of the baby having Downs Syndrome. Since I am not high risk, this test is the only one my insurance will cover. She didn't say what it was called but said it had to do with measuring hormones. Anyone know what this is about?
She also confirmed that the hospital I will be giving birth at has a policy in which all laboring mothers have to have an IV in at all times, even if they aren't dehydrated or being induced. Is this the standard at anyone else's hospital? During my first birth, the hospital didn't give me an IV, however it was a natural water birth.
I had my nt scan this week and saw sweet baby. Everything looked good and I found out my insurance will have me do a few extras because of my age so that is kind of fun. More importantly, genetic bloodwork came back and I am low risk for anything. Being a little older, I am SO relieved. We also found out the sex and I am absolutely thrilled to be having a boy. We will have two of each now.
@aquamala, I think the test you're talking about is a quad screen. It's usually done in conjunction with an NT Scan, since neither is reliable on its own.
As far as the IV, it's been standard practice at our hospital since 2012, at least. They've found it can speed up labor to hyper hydrate you. PLUS, a lot of hospitals are doing pitocin drips after labor now. It decreases the odds of a PP hemorage.
Just got a call from UT Health. Less than 1:10000 for all Trisomies and Turner Syndrome. My SO just stepped out so I have to wait for him to get back to learn the sex. I told him last time. I want him to tell me this time. But, I was a good partner and called him to tell him the important stuff!
@aisukurimsarang congrats on the girl! Thanks for the info about the Quad screen, I did more research and definitely want to get it done. For my first they just gave me a shot of Pitocin after baby came out since I didn't have an IV. I really hate unnecessary intervention, and I feel like extra hydration to speed up birth would be unnecessary in my case since my first birth was pretty quick. I understand that hospital protocols are created to reduce risks, however it is frustrating when they can't make exceptions for risk free births. I am considering an epidural this time around though if the pain is too crazy/long. In that case, I will be connected and strapped in to the fullest extent lol.
@aisukurimsarang Congratulations! I’m jelly of all you mamas finding out already
@aguamala I’m A- too! My daughter was born A- as well, but my son was A+ so ended up with another rhogam shot after delivering. I don’t really remember the Dr talking to me about it with my daughter but that was 10 years ago. Barely with my son 7 years ago. And then this time they’re on it straight from the gate.
I had an appointment yesterday - all was good and healthy! Heard the heartbeat finally for the first time. We were able to see it previously, but at our 12 week they couldn't find it with the doppler (but told us not to worry). Yesterday was my first appointment at the new office and I'm definitely glad I switched! They were a lot more patient here and took time chatting with DH and I about Covid concerns/holidays and our preference to not have residents participating. Also, she looked over the labs that the last doctor breezed over and told me she wanted me to do the 1 hr glucose test and this doctor said she didn't agree and didn't think I needed it. There was just a tiny trace of glucose in one of my urine tests and then it never came up ever again, so she said she didn't think it was necessary.
NT scan went well last week, and I ended up with a bonus second ultrasound at my OB’s office a few days later since the equipment was already set up. Baby was super active on both which was fun!
Had my first chiro appt during this pregnancy and omg it was so needed. I was sore for days and can’t wait to go back this week.
@rexnie ahhhhhh prenatal chiro visits are the BEST!!! I went almost weekly with #3 and it always felt so amazing after every appointment. @kadeephd it’s so so worth it!!! I swear my Chiro is the one who helped my body get in the right placement for labor (and keep it that way all pregnancy) with my last 2 kiddos & is what made my labor easier!!
I finally had my first in-person appointment this morning! Just lots of labs and a full physical... but the best part was that they had no trouble finding the heartbeat with doppler! It put my mind at ease!
Had my appt today and because of COVID it was the first time I saw the baby in 2.5 months! 17 weeks now and the little love was wiggling away-- first time I left the appt feeling like it's getting more "real" and so exciting!
A week after the MFM called, Natera posted my results. For those waiting who are tram green, you can view them without the fetal sex. I didn't realize I was 1:20 for Trisomy 21. Yeesh.
I got my NIPT results on Thursday, and we are low risk, I'm only a carrier for 1/280 genes (for a pretty rare disorder) and we are having a GIRL!
OB appointment was on Friday, met a new doctor and he really put my mind at ease about that damn fibroid. Also, he had no trouble finding the heartbeat! Feeling so joyful!

@theblondebump that is great news! I'm glad this practice seems to be a much better fit for you guys!
I had an appointment this afternoon too, all was good, heard the HB 🙌🏻 Got my flu shot too so checking all the things off the list!
