How was your appointment? What'd they do? Feel free to ask any questions - either leading up to your appointment about what to expect or after your appointment.
I have my October appointment on 10/7. We are doing the genetic screen and will be able to find out the sex! I hope everything comes back normal. My husband wants to tell his family the day before the appt, but I kind of want to wait that the tests come back. I don't care if they judge my decisions so I guess it really doesn't matter.
I am a little annoyed with my office, I use benedryl sparingly in the evenings to prevent itching on my legs. They told me this was fine but then later acted like it was bizarre that I was using it. I usually take it 3 times a week tops and ONLY have one pill in 24 hours. I feel like there have to be other people out there with more serious allergies taking it throughout the day!
I had an appointment yesterday. Got to actually talk to my doctor, who was so kind and reassuring about my weight gain and she helped me confirm that I should plan for a repeat CS instead of attempt a VBAC. I feel so much relief just knowing that and not having to try to decide myself what I should do. Had all my blood drawn for the NIPT so I can’t wait to get the results and find out if I’m right about this babe being a girl!
I had an appointment with my OB on the 1st. Heart rate was 160, took her a while to find it... baby was playing games. We talked a lot about my blood pressure. I take it twice a day at home and she was happy with my at home numbers, I have crazy white coat syndrome on top of hypertension, so i can never get a good reading at the office. It was good to talk to her about what to expect the next couple months with my B/P.
Next appointment is at Oct 26 with MFM for fetal cardiac echo due to family history of heart deformities. Not too worried about that, looking forward to seeing baby again though!
@cagncoo12 I have crazy white coat syndrome too! I like to take my BP at home so that I have a number to throw their way when they look at me with concern - which, by the way, doesn't help me calm down...
Today was my MFM (Perinataology) I take for being Advanced Maternal Age, and also the NT and draw for NIPT. NT results look good! 1.9 NT and CRL at 61. Remember that I'm 43, so I went from 1:45 to 1:187 for chromosomal abnormalities. Baby has a big nose, at 65th percentile. 😂 Since I had GD previously, I need to do a 1hr glucose soon, and I'm being started on double baby aspirin, as I was Hypertensive, as well.
Crossing my fingers the NIPT comes back the same. I requested an amnio for anything higher risk than 1:5000. (Last time it came back 1:10000) now for the long wait.
I had my NIPT draw today and the doctor listened for heartbeat. My tilted uterus makes it tricky to find, but she found baby's heartbeat and it was 155. They did decide to refer me for the NT scan, so I will go in a week from Wednesday for that. I'm hoping I will have NIPT results right around then, so those results combined with the scan should give us some certainty on how baby is doing. For now, we wait.
I had my second appt on October 1st. Got to do my 12 week ultrasound, so that was awesome. Did my blood draw for the NIPT and talked to the dr about family history. This is my first time doing the NIPT with my other 2 I never did. Now I feel all sorts of anxiety waiting for the results.
I also made an appt for an echocardiogram for the baby and I’ve never done that either.
So this is my 3rd pregnancy with all sorts of firsts.
12 week appointment this morning. Took a bit to find the heartbeat but all was good. I had no questions. Fastest appointment ever if you don't count getting the flu shot (which was still quick).
I finally have a doctor and an appointment set up for the 14th! My IVF doctor called me the other day and said she’d been talking to the doctor I was trying to get in with and they jointly decided that I should go to a high risk ob instead. So she let me know her referral was sent over but it could be another 10 days before I actually heard back. I’m 12.5 week so was pretty sad it could be weeks before I have an appointment (my last with her was at 9 weeks), and I was so excited when they called today. I’m so relieved to finally have a doctor settled, and it’s slightly reassuring they went ahead and set me up with someone who will know how to react if I have complications during delivery. I don’t need high risk for anything to do with the baby (so far, to our knowledge), but I have a pretty strong reaction to fentanyl and coded on the table during a simple operation when I was younger.
So we got our NIPT results back yesterday - no genetic abnormalities detected (praise the Lord! 🙌🏻)...and...it’s a 💙BOY💙!!!! Ahhhhhhh!!! We are currently a a GBG family so I’m crazy excited to have some symmetry for our bookend (LAST) baby!!! I’d been feeling like this was a girl early on, but lately my cravings (sweet things) had been making me feel boy! DH was hoping for a boy but wouldn’t admit it and was saying it was a girl He’s such a great girl dad but I know he’s excited to have a second boy. Logistically I’m thrilled because we really only have 2 kid rooms in our house and 3 girls in one room would have been a challenge (and right now the “nursery” is in our office and we really want to turn it back into an office one day 😆). So YAY we are team BLUE!! 💙🎉
NT scan today - everything looks good! Baby sure is wiggly. Turns out a phlebotomist will come to my house for the associated blood work, I was surprised by that news. 12 week appointment with the OB, all good there too.
And... 12w OB went well. Had a hard time finding baby's heartbeat. But then we found it. I'm back on Lobetalol, which I expected. But, my OB recommended against a 12w glucose test. My 6w PP test was 49 at the 2 hour draw, and she's concerned about what would happen this early
Just got back from my 12 week appointment! Such a relief to see the baby kicking around in there and to hear the heartbeat going strong at 161 bpm! I was a bundle of nerves this morning before I went in, so I'm so glad to be on the other side. So happy for everyone and their successful appointments!!
Got a call this morning from the NxGen lab and now I'm even more anxious. It was just their billing department making sure I wanted the cash pay option instead of running against insurance... I have a crazy high deductible. Anyway, she let me know they got my bloodwork and that it was "in process." Now I'm here hoping for miracle turn around time since it is only mid-week and how long can processing really take?! I know that it still will most likely be mid to end of next week, but I can't help but hope!
@pelorunningmama I totally went in and checked my calendar and then email from my last pregnancy to see how much time it took so I wasn’t let down if it took like 3 weeks or something this time around. They used Counsyl for mine and it took 2 weeks and 2 days in 2018. The dr had told me it would take a week, and I remember being super antsy for every day that passed beyond that. Fingers crossed yours is processed earlier than you expect!
Had my 13 week appointment yesterday! Everything is looking great in there. Baby was kicking and moving all around! Heart rate was really strong at 158 BPM. I go back in 2 weeks to find out the gender and we'll actually do our gender reveal on our 4 year anniversary.
I have appointments every 2 weeks from here until week 21 so time is going to fly by.
Had an appointment this morning! (I’m 12 weeks today) It was for a physical exam/pap smear/blood work. She also used the doppler - perfect little heartbeat in the 150/160 range, and she said the little bean was moving around a lot! 😍 I go again November 19. She said if I wait and come in six weeks from now, I can go ahead and have my anatomy scan that day. Seems like a long time to wait, but it’s something to look forward to!
I am low key ( well probably more than low key) freaking out about my last appt on October 1st. I just got a call about my test results, the nurse said everything looked good. I sign on to my portal to look at the details and I see that I tested positive for morphine. I have never taken morphine or anything that would be close to morphine. I called back and the nurse made it sound like no big deal, I can retest at my next appt on Oct 30. But it is a BIG deal because I didn’t take any meds. Has this ever happened to anyone??
@aisukurimsarang, I literally cannot think of anything. The nurse said no biggie but I’m worried about how they will treat me at my next appt. I’m sure I’m overthinking it but I don’t want my drs to think I would be taking strong drugs.
I passed my 3-hour with flying colors! I did get sick (I almost passed out) and I felt sick the rest of the day and the next day with GI symptoms. Anyone else have that experience, or is this likely unrelated?
Next up is genetic screening tests and NT scan on Monday!
@bbrahmbhatt that is great news! I haven’t experienced that personally, but a coworker of mine almost passes out every time (she didn’t mention the GI symptoms but we were at work).
@bbrahmbhatt ugh I would do horribly with the GD test in first trimester! I have heard from others that getting sick from it is commonly associated with actually having GD (but not always) but that's when it's around 28 weeks, not this early.
NT ultrasound today. DH couldn't see anything on the screen via video call but we got great pictures and a CD w/ some video. Everything looks good so far. Baby is measuring with LMP so 2 days earlier than I ovulated.
Sorry I've been MIA. I know I usually create our all due date and STM+ check ins. We're buying a house(!) And DH had to go into the office a bit this week so it's been crazy 24/7. Hopefully next week calms down but we're going to be hectic getting ready for our cross country move so anyone else should feel free to post. It doesnt take long, I just couldn't think through a good GTKY which really held me up🤣
NIPT blood draw this morning, heartbeat was found on the Doppler at around 161. Officially checked the box that we don’t want to know the sex of the baby, so just now I have to avoid it at the anatomy scan. They don’t do a NT screen, which is kind of disappointing, but oh well. Happy to have had a good appointment!
I had my NT scan yesterday; baby is measuring right on target, HR 171 and was moving up a storm. The NT measurements were normal (thank you, God)! Now just waiting for our NIPT and carrier testing results. I am going to find out the gender, but not tell MH. I also asked the MFM about my fibroid, which apparently has gotten bigger, and she said that it looks like my fibroid, while large, is growing out and not inward and she doesn't think it will be a problem for the nugget. It was a good news day!
@bbrahmbhatt yeah for a great appointment and good fibroid news! Can’t wait to hear if it’s a boy or a girl! (I’ll live vicariously through you all who are finding out in the meantime 😊)
@bbrahmbhatt Glad you passed! Did you fail the one hour test (sorry if I missed that) or go straight to the three hour? I had the one hour today. I brought my glucose monitor with me and checked right before and right after the draw. Right before I got 168, which is way high but I'm wondering if I might have had sugary soap residue on my hands, because right after I cleaned them with an alcohol pad and got a reading of 138. They use 135 as the cut-off so I probably failed. I've done the three hour once before and felt soooo sick so I'm terrified to do it again. And even if I pass I know I'll have to do it again between 24-28 weeks!

I love reading about all the fun appointments! Guys this is getting so exciting!!
@kvh22 don’t even worry girl! I’ve dropped the ball on MPM 😂 I’ll start a STM thread now!

@kadeephd yes, I failed the 1 hour so I had to do the 3 hour. It was pretty awful; I really don't want to do it again!
