Re: WTF Wednesday 9/23

  • I'm sure you're all sick of me talking about it, but my dog had a relapse of sorts with his seizures...From Sunday to Monday night he had 6 seizures, which warranted another trip to the ER where he spent the night. They've added a new medicine to his mix so we're up to 4 different Meds to try and combat his epilepsy. His pill organizer looks like that of a 90 year old. If this mix doesn't work, then we'll probably make the decision to put him down :( It's too expensive, his and our quality of life is shitty, plus with a newborn on the way it just seems impossible to handle it all. We were supposed to all go away this weekend to H's parents cabin in the mountains, but he's still recovering and is very wobbly on his feet and wouldn't do good at the cabin, so we cancelled. This was going to be our last getaway before baby comes, first since the pandemic started, (it's a 3 hour drive and I don't think I'll be able to handle it much later), so this all just sucks. wtf

  • @bearmomma1 - Awww I'm so sorry to hear this! <3 It's such a hard decision to make, but you have to think about their quality of life as well. Dogs are really a member of the family and it's not fair that their life span is so short!

I was going to complain about the cost of veterinary care, but I'm sure it pales in comparison to what bearmomma has been spending on her little guy. I just spent $750 on my two dog's annual appointment this week, and I'm paying $2,200 next month to have their teeth cleaned. It's just a hard pill to swallow when also spending a lot of money preparing for the baby and looking at going 12 weeks without pay during maternity leave.

  • @feather_heather Vet care is crazy expensive. Our dog is only 3 so it definitely seems unfair that his life span would be super short. He's a french bulldog and they're pretty hard to get insured, but we're kicking ourselves that we didn't try harder. I can't believe $2,200 for teeth cleaning! I got a quote for something around that amount for my 1 cat last year, and I decided to pass.

  • @bearmomma1 - Ohh the poor little guy! All these health problems at 3 is so so unfair!!  :'(

Yeah, I've known that it was coming because they are little dogs (who inherently always have bad teeth) and they don't let me brush them. Because dental health is so connected to their overall health it's not something I want to pass on - and plus with the baby coming it'll probably be better for everyone for them to have clean teeth and fresh mouths.
  • @bearmomma1 So sorry about your pup, that’s so hard! It sounds like it would really be such a stress with a new baby too. Not an easy decision at all. Hoping that you can find the right mix of meds!
  • WTF my 50+ year old neighbor who sits in her car blasting music and smoking, nearly everyday for at least an hour. We can hear the base throughout the house. This is not compatible with working from home OR DDs nap time. She’s woken here up two days in a row now.

She did this last year when the weather cooled down, and now is starting up again that the weather is better. I hate that as a detached home owning adult I’m dealing with this. I thought after college this crap would stop. Ok WTF rant over....
  • @jchpg wtf?? that's so random! are you on good terms with her? Can you ask her to not do it during nap time?
