@legallykate that's hilarious... you really need to work on that I guess, haha. How do you like Femometer? I've been experimenting with both that and Premom to try to decide which might work better for me, but I haven't gotten very deep into either one. Any thoughts?

@the_most_happy I like the thermometer itself and the temps seem reliable. I think the app is just okay. I like that it stores all my temps and OPKs, although from what I have seen from others' Premom screenshots, that seems maybe even better for reading/displaying OPKs. It also seems way less reliable than FF in figuring out my ovulation date, like this month it thinks I ovulated on CD15 even though I only had peak OPKs on CD16 and CD17.

I have a NSFW story I need to share from yesterday. 

Long story short, DH and I were talking about incognito mode in Chrome because my laptop auto-populates after I type "ww...." with an adult site  and he misunderstood me and thought I said I watch porn on my work computer because I said I do my bumping (meaning TB!) on my work computer in the incognito window.

DH for a moment did the "I don't even know you anymore" freak out. Thankfully I was able to clear that up and calm him down. He has a valid point though, I should probably view that in the incognito browser instead.

I know this is small potatoes compared to everything going on right now, but I saw on the gossip sites that a c-list celeb couple who publicly announced last year they were" doing IVF" and "freezing her eggs" but have been on the rocks for a while is officially splitting, and my very first thought was "Ooooh this is gonna get good! Who gets the embryos?!?!"

@mvt2003 That is actually a pretty crazy area of family law/property law! One of my friends has a bunch of embryos with her ex-husband and their divorce decree requires either of them to get written permission from the other if they ever want to use them. I actually think her ex would probably give her permission but then would want to be involved in the baby's life, so I think she will just try (or do IVF again if necessary) with her new fiance. Another friend drafted up a post-nup with her husband (they are still married) saying that if they ever get divorced she has 100% ownership and control of any remaining combined genetic material. It's fascinating from a legal perspective although heartbreaking from a human one.

@legallykate Agreed - it's a crazy legal issue. My clinic makes us re-sign documents every 120 days that we have to tell them if we ever get a divorce. I'm pretty sure that if we ever divorce, we would both have to agree on the embryos otherwise they would be discarded.

@legallykate I haven't thought about that for a while. What to do with leftover embryos (assuming we have some left in the future). The thought of donating them and then they becoming a living child, like, that's a biological child out there of ours that we will never know. It kind of freaks me out!

@inthewoods23 It is a lot to consider, especially with services like 23andme where there is a potential for those children to track you down someday through a mutual relative or something.

@inthewoods23 @legallykate We actually had a serious conversation about our embryos right before retrieval, we went out on a date night and the topic came up. We both recognize that our feelings about this can be fluid, so our decisions are not final, and we'll have to have the conversation again if we have any left over. As of February, the decision was that we both do not want them discarded, but we're not firm on what to do with them. We'll either donate them to science or embryo adoption, although MH feels uneasy about our genetic child with someone else so I kind of think we won't end up doing that. 

I was reading Inheritance by Dani Shapiro, and actually had to stop because it was triggering me a bit. The 23&Me thing is completely valid, although in my case I actually don't have a ton of close family members who have done it so my family tree has mostly weak connections of 3rd or 4th generations removed. From a geneological perspective, it does get more difficult to track at that level although certainly it can be done.

Eta: was that because of how she asked it on the 1st tri board? Isn't multiples more often a genetic/hereditary thing than external factors like what BC you took?

@inthewoods23 I thought it was weird that today's Peggy was asking for experiences of other moms who have conceived after nexplanon and specifically wanted to know how long it took and if it was multiples. Like, why specifically would it be multiples after bc?

@inthewoods23 Yep, it was because of the wording on 1st Tri, and you're correct that multiples is mostly genetic/hereditary (or medication) but a 1977 study said that there may be a correlation with coming off of hormonal bc that suppresses O. Basically the study says you "super ovulate" after the bc is removed for the next few cycles and release multiple eggs, therefore leading to a higher incidence of multiples. The study results have not been able to be replicated, which IMO renders it useless for actual scientific worth.

@mvt2003 my grandma had twins (her last 2 kids so I'm assuming it was more age related) but she herself was a twin maybe? I don't recall. There's even debate if my uncles are fraternal or identical but you can definitely tell them apart so it has to be fraternal. Of course once all the cousins started getting married and started having kids everybody has been wondering if twins will pop up. But that "skips a generation" isn't exactly true either right?

@inthewoods23 As far as my research tells me, "skips a generation" is kind of true - there is a hereditary component to ovulating more than one egg in a cycle, and that's why certain families are more prone to fraternal twins. However, the gene obviously only manifests in women, so it can seem like it "skips" when the reality is that males can't ovulate but they can pass on that gene so it could appear in their daughters.

@inthewoods23 I mean, I think genetically it's the same as something like eye color - it will manifest at a certain percentage in the next generation.

Here's a FB memory of mine that popped up today that aged like milk - we had just had all of our wedding showers (we had 2 since my family is out of state) and I note that we're destined for 4 kids if you follow the silly number of ribbons broken opening gifts = how many kids you'll have.

My only hope for that at this point is probably having twins.
