@mamahosch that's reckless. People don't really seem to get it! Sorry you had to change plans.
It's my birthday today! My kid was up at 6:20🙄 H got me almond croissants for breakfast! We have our nanny watching our son this afternoon and we'll be spending some time at the beach then getting some takeout and have a picnic. Excited to get spoiled and relax today!
@morethanamama sounds like a nice relaxing day! Happy birthday 🎂.
Ladies with a low lying placenta are you able to have sex and not bleed a bunch afterwards. I have a low lying placenta and got spoken to yesterday at my appointment about bleeding and what’s okay and what isn’t given my history if premature labor. I want to have some special time with H but I’m hesitant to if it’s going to result in a bunch of bleeding.
@morethanamama happy birthday! Yeah I was pretty mad about it. But our neighbors took the boat out today and they told us to come along for the ride! DH got to fish for a while. Still sitting out here enjoying what’s left of the sun ☀️
@animalandplantrescuer yeah I had a talk with MH about it, and while he wasn't extra supportive or anything (he will never stand up to his mother), he did tell me that I should just be upfront with her and tell her no. So, that's what I plan to do. She often guilts me into things by buying plane tickets for us and making me feel like I can't say no, but I think I'm just going to have to this time. We've been married 7 years and together 10, so you'd think I'd have this down by now.
My Amazon bras came in today and they actually fit and are comfortable! I bought a few sports bras because my old ones were incredibly tight. I also bought this one "regular" bra and it fits great and is comfortable! No underwire but still has good support without giving me uniboob. Not a nursing bra but if it can help me get through the pregnancy, I will consider that a win. (@morethanamama tagging you since I think you asked me to share what I found!) https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06W9L69BH?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
My sciatic nerve pain is awful these days. I found this article that also has little videos within it to show you some good stretches. I found it helpful.
Thanks everyone for the wishes, it was a great day! I got some good gifts too which I was not expecting. My in laws got me a super fancy robe that I really wanted for postpartum and it's so soft and luxurious. My mom got me a Posh Peanut robe with matching outfit for baby's coming home outfit and some hospital photos! H got me a necklace and a little pocket mirror with a super sweet quote engraved. I felt the love!
We made it to the water and rented a little runabout boat for an hour and the weather was perfect. We then got lobster Mac and cheese and a lobster roll for dinner and had a picnic on the beach. Overall a perfect day! And my friend sent a dozen donuts to my door! About to enjoy some dessert at home.
Happy -so late it's almost belated- birthday @morethanamama glad you had a nice day!
@anitamargarita_82 my friend has a low lying placenta and didn't experience any bleeding, her doctor did put her on pelvic rest after 30 weeks though but told her she was fine up to that point, I'd go for it if your OB said it's fine, and just try to avoid certain positions that you're more likely to irritate your cervix in, but that's just me.
I am incredibly nervous for my anatomy scan. It's first thing tomorrow morning. I haven't seen the doctor since 12 weeks (I'm almost 21 now) but have been feeling good movement. I didn't do any extra genetic testing or lab screening since I'm only 30 and have no risk factors, so none of it was covered by insurance. Just a ball of nerves knowing how much could still be wrong. Without giving away too much extra about my job, I have dealt with a lot of pregnancies with poor outcomes and the cases are just always on my mind when this time comes. MH isn't allowed to come (as I know has been the case for a lot of you) and will be working so can't really FaceTime. I might have to double my unisom dose tonight to sleep. 😬
@carrotsandpeas3 I’m nervous for mine, and I have had the screenings. I really wish our partners could come. For some reason my nerves would be way less if that were the case. Know you’re not alone on your nervousness. We can get through it.
@carrotsandpeas3 I can relate to how you're feeling. The day before my anatomy scan, the memories of all the bad things that I have seen or heard over the years started to flood into my brain. Knowing a little too much can be tough. I'm considered geriatric now, so the feelings of possibly getting bad news were stronger for me this time. Everything ended up being fine. My anatomy scan ended up being completely normal. I hope that your anatomy scan goes well tomorrow. Keep us updated.
@mckjacks lol that's a good way to gauge😂 @carrotsandpeas3 the anatomy scan is a big milestone so it's normal to be nervous about it. Just remember. At what time could you potentially stop worrying? So much can go wrong at any pregnancy stage, and once the baby is here too. But we can't focus on what could be wrong all the time. Otherwise we miss the present moments and ruin our moods for nothing. This comes from a hypochondriac, so...I should be practicing what I preach!
Good luck tomorrow and I'm sure everything will check out just fine! Keep us posted!
Thanks ladies. I'm usually pretty good about keeping a lid on the worry, but it hit me hard today. I was much less anxious after my anatomy scan last time, so hopefully I can do the same this time.
@mckjacks I sneezed today while on my way to the bathroom with a full bladder. Not ideal!
@carrotsandpeas3 sorry you’re having so much anxiety. ❤️ I know for so many people this is just the “gender ultrasound” but the stakes feel higher when you know it’s about a lot more than that. I hope you have the most boring, routine ultrasound ever tomorrow.
@carrotsandpeas3 For DS I had the genetic blood testing and was still terrified for the A/S. It's definitely an anxiety provoking test. I agree though - hope you have a boring, routine u/s tomorrow.
@carrotsandpeas3 thinking of you and sending virtual hugs. Hope your anatomy scan goes well!
Total rave here but Kate Quinn organics had a sale and I got the cutest baby things, I'm so excited since they almost never have sales it seems like. Sometimes their launches are more pink/blue and this particular one had so much purple. 🙄 But I still got some good neutrals, and it made up for Carter's disappointing stock.
@carrotsandpeas3 I hope your scan goes well and you can breathe a huge sigh of relief afterwards.
I'm having a super hard time focusing on work today and my daughter is killing me with her thumb sucking. My best advice to anyone who ends up with a thumb sucking baby: squash that habit ASAP. My girly will be 4 soon and we have tried EVERYTHING. You can take a pacifier away but not a thumb
@themoonandme the girls we nanny with both suck their thumb. H is always terrified that our son will pick up the habit...thankfully he was never a thumb sucker. One of the girls will be 6 in October...
I just got a ton of baby boy clothes from a coworker today! She brought a tub over and I still left half of them behind (they were either the wrong season or just didn’t like the style). But a couple were plain white onesies and I think I’m going to use my Cricut to put some sayings on them since I have a lot of scrap vinyl to use up. Any cute ideas for sayings I should do? I hate the super cheesy ones. I found this one for sure 😂
@mamahosch This doesn’t help you use your scrap vinyl, but what I really want to do is tie-dye a onesie. My nephews have tie-dye shirts, and they’re the cutest thing.
@animalandplantrescuer oh how cute!! I love tie dye, and it’s totally coming back in style right now!
@profmcgonagall that would be adorable. Hubby drinks coffee every morning so that would be so cute! I found these ideas on Etsy last night and laughed. I have a “straight outta pre-K” shirt I made for our team to wear on the last day of school once 😂 and DH and I always say guess what? Chicken butt. So I have to make it lol.
@mamahosch I used to have a shirt that read, made in the 80’s. You could have one that reads, made in 2020, since our little ones were only made in 2020. I also like “locally made“ or something similar.
@themoonandme hahaha noooooo I meant it in a way that if your daughter is 4 then you should rejoice she is at least not 6?? I know, it's not much to be happy about I guess
@mamahosch I've never heard the chicken butt saying in my life but it's hilarious! Definitely share your finished products with us! We don't do words on baby clothing, because we're weird like that but I do have one onesie from our last babe that has "loved" in typewriter font, I love it!
On another note I didn't realize I was crying during my anatomy scan till I got up and saw the tear puddle on the bed where my head was and realized my face was all sticky. 😛 Hormones and anxiety man, it makes everything so fun.
Anyone else's husband/partner has the dumbest ideas and gets mad when you point it out? No? Just mine? We have an extra baby gate we don't need so we were going to install it outside. He says it's probably not wide enough so we could install it against the air compressor. Like, for real? We spent $$$ on AC, I am not going to install a pressure mounted gate against a compressor! Maybe I am pregnant and hormonal but seriously, sometimes I just facepalm with him. He's the brightest man I know but when it comes to practical things he's a mess.
@baseballismyfavoriteseason I tried to check the spreadsheet to remember what you were having but it didn’t work. Anyway my husband is a huge baseball nerd and I ordered this to bring our little guy home in. Thought you might like it too!
@anitamargarita_82 OH MY WORD!!!!!! We are having a boy and I love it!!!! I just showed it to my husband and he said, “How much is it? Oh it doesn’t matter, just get it.” 😍😍😍😍
Work has been kinda meh lately especially with all the time I was working from home, but I saw a really cool medical case today that's the first I've seen of it in 4 years of residency! Got me all excited. (Also, it was a surprisingly better diagnosis for the patient than they expected, so that's always nice too).
@morethanamama I saw this the other day and it is 100% my husband when trying to prioritize stuff we need to get done around the house. Not quite the same, but equally bad logic and frustrating!
@carrotsandpeas3 that is so funny because my husband does exactly that. He is an arborist so it’s his job to prune and remove trees, but he’s spent countless weekends working on the trees in our backyard when there are SO many other things to get done around here! It’s not like the trees are hazardous at this point, he just wants to prune them. It’s very annoying when there are many more important things that need to be done! I guess men will use any excuse to operate their chain saws!
I feel so accomplished! I had a check-up today with my OB that went very well, and she set up my glucose test, so I'll be doing that next month. I also got the contact info for child birth prep for 1st time parents and other prenatal classes as well as the info for the lactation consultation at the appointment, too. Then, after that I went to Target and got some dresses (one I'm considering for my baby shower), and stopped by the daycare to register LO in order to hold her place on the waitlist. Phew!
And I'm back to work tomorrow. I will for-sure miss working from home, but I have lots to do back in the office so it'll be nice to wrap those things up (as much as I can) since Friday is my last day before I transfer to a new base on Monday. I can say this much for certain: I will not miss being coworkers with MH, lol.
ETA: Forgot to mention that my girl friends are in the throes of planning my baby shower, too, so I've been pinning tons of stuff to give them ideas. This is all starting to feel REAL now!
Ladies I realized I never fixed our Spreadsheet!!! My Google account got compromised and I decided to delete it. I backed up the documents, so luckily the file is safe. I obviously forgot to post a new link, but I just did!! Sorry!!!
Super excited I got an email from Posh Peanut saying some of their items were up to 50% and it included the print I wanted for our hospital outfits! Also glad that I saw it before they pulled this print because I would’ve been very disappointed.
Has anyone looked into cord blood banking? We haven’t done it in the past but I’m considering it this time around. What company did/are you planning to use?

@mamahosch that totally sucks! I feel like people are also like restrictions are lifting things can go completely back to normal sigh.
