@gomillis oh that's awesome! My former co-workers knew I didn't drink, some of my current ones may not. 🤷 They still will give me wine as a gift, and I just say THANK YOU! At least now we have something to offer company if it ever came up, but that's hilarious that she's going to get tipsy and ask you if you're an alcoholic. 🤦🤦🤦 Uhm.... No. No I am not. ????
Did you tell her you are training for a marathon? 👍
I said I didn’t like to drink before I picked up my son from daycare. People are so weird and pushy about alcohol. There are so many reasons why someone may not want a drink, and so many of them are really personal! In this case I just found it funny. I have a feeling she doesn’t remember much of the conversation today.
@blackgirlmagic, nope! The Targets anywhere halfway close to me (within a few hours) have plenty of regular suits, but no maternity. I just checked their website with the "pick up in store" filter on - zero results.
I just ordered a couple sizes through Target and then I will return what I don't want in store to avoid the shipping cost to return them.
FYI, Target has buy one, get one half price on their swimsuits right now! So if you're buying a two-piece, you're in luck!
@gomillis What the heck? Quite the leap and also just as personal as a pregnancy! Yikes. Also, I’m in full scale “you say go and everyone is staying home in our own personal quarantine.” I don’t have much faith in how things have been handled so far by any government. I’ve been hammering hand hygiene and keeping your hands off your face to my kids like a lunatic.
Went to target to destress. Got spotted by my mil who didnt know I was pregnant and who we are no contact with. Pretty sure she took photos of me and was texting them to fanily because as soon as I saw her she was texting. Hauled ass out the store called my husband. Didn't even make it home before he called me to tell me yeah they must know because his sister texted him a b.s. excuse to come to our house this weekend.
Got home and have been puking since. I'm useless today and have tried to keep up with the new posts here but I feel too sick to stay online long and respond.
Hoping I feel better. Thank you ladies for all your support. Greatest bm group ever!

I'm still waiting on my NIPT! I feel like I have to trust that they will call me when they get it but I'm getting antsy. I also feel like I pulled a muscle in my butt by coughing. Is that a thing!? I don't even know what to do about it. Are butt massages a thing? Will DH be weirded out if I ask ?
@roo_baby Aw, how old is your DD? Mine is 2 and keeps "helping" by piling toys on me when I am lying down or bringing her drum over and singing "Mommy sleepy, Mommy sleepy" which is thoughtful but not very relaxing. Every now and then she'll come over and give me a hug though. She knows something is up. I've felt bad about screen time with her too, usually we're pretty careful about it.
@lachnessmomster Every now and then I will look at the BMBs on other sites for entertainment. It's just... wow. I don't even have words, haha. The Trimester boards on here are pretty wild though.
@unikittymom Just anecdotally speaking I ended up taking Unisom for most of my pregnancy with DD. I had started taking the Unisom/B6 combo for MS but then couldn't sleep without the Unisom once I tried to drop it. I think it's considered to be pretty safe; DD is very healthy so far anyway. Good luck with the job! I feel like there is never a "right time" for certain things; sometimes you just have to grab an opportunity when it comes up
@RedBaramid Have you had any pain that might be linked to a gallbladder issue? DH has a "low functioning gallbladder" but he has had some pain on and off with that (he's actually lived with that for almost 10 years if that makes you feel any better). He probably will need it removed at some point but his Dr is not in a rush. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be anything major for you but it is worth getting checked.
@psychobutthead DH had a similar incident as a freshman and ended up suspended for two weeks (this was back in the late 90's) even with no disciplinary problems prior. Schools don't mess around with that stuff. I don't know if suspension is better or worse than going to an alternative school. I guess you can feel a small "mom win" that she resisted the peer pressure to drink, regardless of how the school is handling it!
@fitandnerdy I started to look into daycares around here after I moved and the waiting lists are ridiculous. I've decided to just stick with the SAHM gig for now but I know that's not an option for everyone.
@gomillis DH's company had a bunch of layoffs unexpectedly this week also (wait... you don't work at the same place do you?). So stressful! Also, WTF to your coworker assuming you're an alcoholic?! I get that people lose their filter a bit when the drink, but sheesh! When I stopped drinking I got a bunch of prying questions. People are so weird about that stuff.
@hypermusic My mom is a nurse, and of course I did what every daughter of a nurse does when they get bad or worrying health news, I called my mommy. Last year I made major health changes, I changed my diet, I started working out, I lost 70 pounds in a really healthy way, one to be proud of even. Then I got got pregnant.. and while I haven't stopped exercising, my diet has slipped some. I'm eating much more fatty foods and more fried foods that I was eating before. I'm not over gaining weight, so I'm clearly not over eating too much, but the content of my diet has rapidly changed. Even just losing that much weight alone and then getting pregnant would be enough to trigger issues, adding the diet changes would only exacerbate it. I am also having some aching in the lower right side of my abdomen, and I have been low grade nauseated for weeks. These could be warning signs for gallbladder issues.. or I could just be pregnant. We(my mom and I) really do think this is probably my gallbladder.
Of course I'll see when what the specialists think when I get to them on Tuesday next week, but this really does seem to be the most likely culprit at this time. It's not ideal, but there are many work arounds for gallbladder issues depending on severity, and gallbladders are removed from pregnant woman more often than I knew before I started looking into it. I'm still super nervous, but every day that I still feel basically fine I'm a little less so, and I know that if it is my gallbladder, I will be okay.
@gomillis Sorry about the rough situation at work with the layoffs. It's never easy. Also wierd about your coworker assuming you're an alcoholic! In regards to your coronavirus question, I work in a school and we haven't even heard about a plan. There are no known cases in my area. But we had a big flu outbreak and some schools closed due to poor attendance or so many teachers being out. Our school starting sanitizing in the evening after all the kids and teachers were gone. I'm hoping keeping up with similar routines will keep us in decent shape but I'm a little panicked about it all too.
@psychobutthead So sorry about all the stress your under and now not feeling well. I hope you get some rest and feel better soon.
@gomillis first, I love how you are almost half way through this pregnancy and your work still doesn’t know. Second, I cannot believe they jumped right to being a recovering alcoholic. It’s laughable and so not laughable all that same time.
@psychobutthead make plans to be out of the house this weekend. I cannot believe how gossiping your Mil is. And I’m glad that the meeting went well.
@coldlife I order a cute swimsuit off of amazon and it will be here tomorrow! Thank goodness for amazon!! If that size doesn’t fit I’ll order the next size up and that should arrive by Friday, Saturday at the latest. Her class is not till Sunday.
I don’t know how you all can explore other boards. I feel like between work, home life, my old bmb group, and this group it’s hard to keep up with everything. I can’t wait till we move off this ancient website to something that’s a little bit easier to manage.

@psychobutthead You just can't catch a break, can you? That's so shady that she might've taken photos of you and texted them out. I'm sorry you have to deal with someone like that. I'm glad the meeting about your daughter went well, though! Kids are going to be kids, and I hope she learned from her mistake. Thank goodness my school never had cameras during school dances. 🙃😂
When you accuse your husband of taking your dinner because you forgot that it was in the microwave. I have also asked him the same question five times in a row, back to back and forgot to start the dryer on three different occasions all in the same day. 😂 I never believed/experienced pregnancy brain in my first pregnancy, but now I do.

@hypermusic I work for a really big company so it’s possible it’s the same one as your husband! Although I heard about a couple of other companies that had layoffs recently so who knows.
edited to add: I’m glad YH didn’t lose his job! Hope it wasn’t too stressful for him.
@psychobutthead Wow of all people to run into today. It’s really not your week ❤️
@blackgirlmagic A lot of people I work with don’t have kids and I think are just kind of clueless about this stuff. Meanwhile I’m the baby obsessed creep who’s always on the lookout for signs people are pregnant and usually suspect way before they tell me 😂
I don’t remember who was asking about how schools/daycare are going to handle the virus if/when it gets here, but I saw that my county’s public school is updating parents with what they know. I’m assuming that if it does get here this is how they will communicate and share information. Here is the link if you want to see what they said. It’s super basic and real general since there is not much to report at the moment: https://www.mymcmedia.org/mcps-updates-on-coronavirus-confirms-no-cases-in-maryland/

@gomillis No word from our daycare either, and they've been similarly slow on the ball/uncommunicative in other situations. (Example: Last summer the whole school passed around HFM, and we had no idea it was a thing until DS came down with it on vacation. It took us forever to figure out what was wrong with him, come to find out there'd already been 4 cases in his class the previous week...) I know there's not much they can actually do, but I'd just like to feel confident that they're going to share the information they have about the number of potentially sick kids in the school so that we can all make our own decisions about whether to keep them home.
Re: flying right now... @rivercitynik I had the SAME thoughts. We are flying next weekend. I was already planning on bringing a travel pack of sanitary wipes so I could wipe down our seats/trays before sitting down as well as some hand sanitizer. Here's a quote from an article I read about wearing masks: "Disposable surgical masks also are not recommended for people unless they're sick or caring for someone who's ill. Azar said wearing masks "could actually sometimes be more harmful to you than not wearing a mask, because if it's not fitted right you're going to fumble with it. You're going to be touching your face, which is the No. 1 way you're going to get disease, is unclean hands touching your face."" MD is 5 and there is no way she will keep a mask on her face UGH. Why does this have to be happening right now!
Update: So the last week has been a whirlwind for us.*TW, maybe?* I got my quad screening back and it was abnormal/put me in the high risk category. Even though it only assesses your RISK, it was still scary and emotional! I had (chose) to go back in for more blood work so they could assess the specific chromosomes for any abnormalities. MH has been SUPER wonderful through it all so shout out to him lol, way to go H. (He's not always the best with emotional things). Tuesday afternoon we finally got a call from the Dr. As soon as my phone rang and it was her number I packed up my stuff and left work to call her back. She had good news-everything came back normal. We are so relieved. It felt really petty to be emotional and upset about something that was just a risk assessment. But my anxiety kept telling me it was a diagnosis that something was wrong and I was just mad and frustrated and BLAH I'm just so happy to know things are okay. *TW end* In addition, since they were looking at the chromosomes she said she also knew the gender if we wanted to know. (I wasn't going to find out for another 3 weeks at my US, so I was excited about finding out sooner!) Turns out we are having another girl! We told DD and our parents last night. D is super excited to be getting a sister.
CW: I'm doing my first 24 hour urine today (yay for doctors who want to work ahead and get a baseline while it's still early, boo for peeing and collecting it in a jug like a weird hoarder.). I'm shook by how much I pee. This jug is already over 1/3 full and it's only 1pm. Also I feel like I've wasted half my day in the bathroom dealing with peeing because of the stupid collection process and needing to keep it chilled. I forgot how much I hated this. CW End
I slept propped up funny to help negate some of my sinus drainage issues and now I have a stiff neck, back, and shoulders with limited range of motion without pain and pinching feelings. I'm trying to avoid taking any medication at this point besides my vitamins and it hurts like a something... I'm hoping a good stretch out on the floor will help though. I hope you're all having an amazing Friday Jr out there.
@mrs_sheddy I'm sorry that you had to go through all of that, but I'm glad that your results came back normal. And congratulations on having another girl!

Took ds1 for his 4yo check up. His dr put him on a inhaler as he is showing very early signs of asthma. That damn inhaler costs 55 fracking dollars and we can't get it until H gets paid at the beginning of the month. I can't believe how expensive it is! Ugh!
I’ve been doing a bad job keeping up. Not tagging people cause it’s too hard on mobile. Which is part of why I also can’t wait til we move off this crap platform.
DD is 2. She’s 50% sweet and helpful and 50% drives me insane destroying the house and pretending she can’t hear what I’m telling her to do.
Layoffs are so hard even if you don’t lose your job. I’ve been on both sides and neither is easy. Hopefully those cut got a nice severance package.
Not really concerned about Coronavirus at this point, but my employer has asked people to wfh at the first sign of illness or if they have been traveling abroad. It’s nice that they quickly put guidelines in place. I’m more concerned about it come August when we have tiny people with low immunity to worry about. I’m also debating limiting our spring/summer travel, but no decisions yet.
I finally told my boss I’m pregnant. It went well! There are still a few more execs I need to tell soon, and then I’m planning to wait until after my A/S to tell my larger team. I feel like I’m definitely showing but my boss says she didn’t notice at all, so that’s promising.
You guys, I can hardly believe today is my last day at work. They took my keys yesterday and everything, and they are not expecting me Saturday, either. After all this time and all this struggle, this is all I ever wanted to be able to stay home, and now it's finally really happening???? Is this real life?
So I'm finally in second tri as of yesterday and had a rough two plus days... that's why I've been MIA... catching up now, ugh. At least it's Friday... Happy Friday!
@BusinessWife I guess the convo with your boss went well! Yay that you begin your leave today, AAHHHH!!! So exciting!! I have been lurking Sept too as I know some of the ppl there from TTGP lol
@rivercitynik OMG thank you so much for sharing Lucie's list! I feel like I'm not as lost anymore! I'm a planner too (by trade a financial planner and I just love planning vacations/parties/etc in general), but for some reason baby planning felt so different and paralyzing. I kept telling myself once the first tri brain fog lifts I'll focus. This has helped so much!!
@hypermusic Totally call the Dr. and follow up on your results. My dr had mine and didn't call bc the receptionist was out of the office. Doesn't hurt to call and inquire! Wishing you the best results!
@mrs_sheddy Congrats on your results and your baby girl!!
@psychobutthead Sorry you are going through that with YD... and I hope you feel better soon! Ugh! Jeez, your MIL is a handful... sorry she is such a gossip! Stay strong girl!!
@gomillis I'm sorry for the rough work week, but glad you made it through the cut!! That's super weird about your higher-up thinking you're in recovery. I think that must be top of mind for her... Like maybe someone close to her (or she should be?) is in recovery.
As for traveling... I've read that only specific masks will actually block the coronavirus and you really can't wear them for extended periods of time, like 30 mins-1 hr max because breathing is difficult and it gets a bit sweaty in there. I would recommend traveling with Clorox wipes and wipe down the entire surface, tray, etc. Supposedly the virus is killed after 1 minute being wet with Clorox. Last tip that an old coworker told me years ago... aim the little air vent above you to push the air just passed your face (not hitting your face), as this helps push the germs away from you so you're less likely to breathe them in. I don't know how much water that holds, but I've been doing it every time I travel. Of course wash hands when you can and don't touch the sink/door handles... use hand sanitizer when not possible to wash hands... Just some tips from your neighborhood germaphobe... stay well everyone

I noticed yesterday at the library that they had coronoavirus posters up, but they didn't mention the virus, which I found kind of amusing. They were printouts from the WHO and basically said normal cold/flu prevention-type stuff with the addition of the bit about breathing difficulty and going to the doctor if you have those symptoms. They didn't seem like normal cold/flu prevention posters what with the addition of breathing issues and seeing a doctor, but there was no mention of the virus by name.
At this point I am trying to just take each day as it comes.
This week has been hard and I am trying to just not be stressed out. My husbands sister has been texting him since I got spotted on how she wants to come over for my sons birthday even though she missed it.
I told him to tell her shes not bought our daughter anything in over 6 years for her birthday and that it would not be fair to buy our son something but not her. She wrote back with all these excuses on why she hasn't. I'm sorry I find it hard to believe that in 6 years you had no way to buy her something and no way to buy my son something in the last 4 years. Not even a card. She claims they didn't buy her fiancees nieces anything either all these years. That is incredibly shitty. They haven't even gotten my daughter or son a card or phone call in all these years or his nieces? But they managed to buy my brother in laws kids something each year on their birthday and christmas for the same 6 years they didnt my daughter? She also managed to buy my bil's son a gift on his first birthday and christmas this year?
Yeah no thanks. I would really love to move to a new town to avoid them all together. Luckily DH told her no. If she persists I will have him tell her my birthday is sunday and i dont want it ruined by being surrounded with people who hate me.
Hope everyone here is having a better week than me!

@psychobutthead I'm sorry. That is so hurtful. I'm glad your DH is on your family's side with this.
I read an article earlier that said the COVID-19 virus is most dangerous to the elderly and that pregnant women aren't at greater risk for complications. There was a study in the article of 9 pregnant women living in the affected province in China, all of whom were in their 3rd trimester and had confirmed diagnoses of the virus. None developed severe pneumonia or died, and all of the babies were born healthy and with normal apgar scores. They also tested the amniotic fluid, cord blood, and breast milk and no trace of the virus was found. I found that kind of comforting. So while I don't want to get COVID-19, I'm not stressing out about it just yet. There are also no diagnosed cases in my state (NY) which helps my anxiety too.
Also, be careful if you do choose to get face masks. Not only could we potentially cause shortages for the medical communities who actually need them, but if you aren't familiar with wearing masks you will be touching your face/nose a lot to adjust them, which then defeats the purpose of wearing the mask.
A few people were talking about the Coronavirus, so I thought you guys might be interested in these stats I found yesterday. Particularly that it dosen't seem to affect young children as severely, I couldn't find much about pregnant women though.https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-age-sex-demographics/
That's comforting to hear that the preliminary study found coronovirus not to be very dangerous for pregnant women and baby. I was concerned about that. I know a lot of people who are stockpiling things in case an outbreak hits. I bought some children's Motrin but that's about it for now 😅
@BusinessWife wow that's awesome that you are done with with now!! Enjoy!

This morning my husband said that people on the west coast are panicking and buying up things like toilet paper in anticipation of this coronavirus madness.

@BusinessWife wow that's awesome that you are done with with now!! Enjoy!
