That's annoying @pirateduck. More of a husband fail than a MIL fail. Other than why would anyone buy someone a giant t-shirt? That's just weird. Donate the shirt. She probably got it on sale anyway and exchanging it would probably not even get you diapers. I mean, isn't that why people buy stuff like that? Because they look at what you need and decide they don't want to spend that much money? Don't feel bad in the future if you tell her what you don't need along with what you do need.
I shamelessly announce to MH that I'll be donating pretty much everything his mom gets us, as soon as she leaves. If he won't tell her to stop buying stuff, then I don't feel bad that she's wasting her money. That's on him. And her, since she won't listen to me.
@ruby696 yeah, I don't know if it's the money thing or what. I did try and put a range of stuff on the registry because while a stroller is expensive, a bib or a pacifier is not and still much needed and appreciated. Seriously, anything for baby would have been good because we have nothing except a stroller. Why is it that some people can figure this out on their own and others can't? My friend got me an incredibly thoughtful gift for my birthday which included a pregnancy journal, and some earth mama products like belly butter and natural deodorant. Some people just get it.
Good news is that SIL did send a huge box of baby hand me downs home with my husband. So much stuff I almost cried and she told me I will never have to buy clothes. She now has a two year old boy and a 3 month old girl so by the time my baby girl makes an arrival her lil cousin will have just outgrown the sizes she needs.
