Re: Monday B!tchFest 1/13

  • @meanjellybean the app hasn't improved since 2.5 years ago when I was pregnant before, so I don't have high hopes for it getting better before babies. (Dare I say it's gotten worse since then?) I'm hoping we'll have moved to a private facebook group by the time babies are here which will be easier for phone access. Also, what was the weird error message? Something about no connection even when you're connected to wifi? I get that one all.the.time.
  • Loading the player...
  • @stlbuckeye132 oh good I'm glad there's light at the end of the tunnel and we can hopefully be on a platform that's more mobile-friendly! And no it wasn't wifi, it was something weird that must have been about whatever software that supports their app, it was some weird name... strange enough that I exited out of the app for the rest of the day lol. How in this day in age is their app so terrible??
  • @stlbuckeye132 I swear, I think it's gotten worse too! I don't remember anyone having these kind of issues when I was in DD's BMB. Biggest issue was threads with lots of photos crashing if you open them via mobile.

We moved to FB maybe a month or so before babies started arriving (if I'm remembering correctly). Does that sound normal to others?
  • I think with mine we moved ~2 months before the month we were due. I know we had a couple babies born early (like 35-36 weeks) and we were on the fb group by that point. I'm good with whenever, as long as it's late enough to weed out the crazies!
  • @stlbuckeye132 not saying we should move over sooner, but I feel like there are FAR fewer crazies than there were 4 years ago when I was on here for DD. Like, the one really great thing about the platform kind of dying down is that you don't have to deal with as much of that when you're moving over.
  • @blaf322 I agree. Even as I was typing it, I was thinking to myself that I don't think we've really had any here haha
  • I gave up on the app back when I was on the Infertility board.  Even on my phone I use my browser b/c the app just stinks.  This board doesn't seem to have the internet troll traffic often that I associate with some others.
  • The app is horrible, and I also can't seem to load the website on my phone browser...so basically the only way I'm able to use it is with my computer. With my oldest in 2016 it was much better, and even with my 2nd in 2018 it was much better than it is now. I'd say about 30% of the time I'm able to load posts using the app. I don't understand why they seem to make zero effort to fix the obvious issue with the app. I guess they don't care?
  • @zande2016 I feel like with the dwindling use of the boards, they likely aren't making enough to support the needs of the community (which is likely further perpetuating the issues folks have).
  • Also being a free app it probably doesn’t fuel their fire to keep it running in tip top shape. (But it is beyond frustrating how horribly it works)
  • The ongoing saga of bathroom dysfunction at work is going to turn into a "toilet trailer" starting tomorrow for an unknown period of time.  Evidently, the cast iron pipes cannot handle the modern toilets they installed last year and it's been a problem ever since.  They will have to dig up our road outside the office to fix.  Wheee
  • +1 to hating the app.  It maybe loads about 50% of the time on my phone.

DS's BMB moved to a Private Group at a certain point, but we were on Facebook at the Beginning of June and it was an October BMB.  I will admit though, we were clicking way better than anyone expected and it is SO much easier being on Facebook.  We really haven't had many leave the group since then.  As someone who comes in late to conversations sometimes, I like that you can reply to a post and it shows up right under the post unlike on the Bump where it is way down the thread!
  • @bluguitarhannah what exactly is a toilet trainer....?
  • Toilet trailer is a portapotties inside a trailer basically.
  • @bluguitarhannah omg I can't read. Definitely read trainer not trailer lol I was just picturing the little toilet seats that go inside the normal seat for potty training. A toilet trailer sounds.... lovely!
  • @blaf322 that sounds right, timeline wise. I think my ‘16 group moved right after everyone gave birth, or within the month. I tried to join an ‘18 board, but abandoned it when people so intensely policed the board, it wasn’t fun. But then I really wished I had a group when I was like 5-6 months pregnant but when I checked, everyone had moved to Facebook like a month earlier and I was super sad.

Honestly, sometimes I feel like I don’t need a group or have much to say at this point, but want to keep getting to know everyone because a) you all are very lovely and b) I need a lot more support and solidarity once the third tri rolls around, so I want to prep for that this time!
  • My BMB moved 2.5- 3 months prior to our due date month in 2017. It went smoothly.

I think only on person left  and was because she gave up/deleted FB.
  • @Pascal86 I don't really feel like I NEED a group during pregnancy, tbh. But joined b/c having other people to talk to who are also away for a MOTN feed was so nice with DD. I liked not feeling so alone then. That said, now that I'm here, I'm glad I joined because the group seems great so far
