Re: Baby Names- Drop 'em here!

  • @zande2016 Rosalie is a beautiful name! Is Annette on the list for a first or middle name? I think Rosalie Annette is a pretty combination. Definitely a lot of name, but in a good way.

  • @kristinl492 we could definitely do Annette as a middle name, that’s a good idea
  • Names are such a big thing you don’t realize until you’re having a child and that’s going to be their name. For their entire life.
  • We've never seriously discussed names before the 20 week ultrasound where we find out sex, because we're just overwhelmed. We kind of try, but it feels pointless.

For a girl, I've been really liking Maeve - and surprisingly, my husband really liked it too when I brought it up. Weird thing is that I married into his Irish last name, I already had an Irish first name... and I'm barely/not-at-all Irish, and he's also very barely Irish. So it seems kind of heavy on the Irish theme for no real good reason...

I'm soooo uninspired by boy names, and I have a hunch that this one is a boy, so don't know what I'll do (though I also had this "hunch" for my two daughters so I'm historically wrong on this).

I've kept the fact that I'd like the middle name to be Smith to myself, and probably won't ever push it. But it's my maiden name and even though it's super common, I still love it, and miss it a lot, so think it'd be fun to get it in somewhere.
  • @Pascal86 Maeve is such a pretty name, I have a weakness for Irish names! I also just really love the way it looks spelled out for some reason. I’m planning to use my maiden name for this baby’s middle name. Definitely if it’s a boy. Not 100% sure if it’s a girl because I also would love to use Elizabeth, after my sister. Go for it! I moved my maiden name over as a second middle name for myself, so it just feels like a way to pass my name down and have something in common with the baby from my side.

@Pascal86 I also love Maeve! There's a family that lives near us and their older girl is Maeve and it sounds so cute when they yell it on the playground lol.

And yes to everyone wanting to pass your maiden name (or still your last name if you're like me and didn't change your name). I wish I had a last name that sounded good as a middle, but whenever I tried it in combination with my husband's last name it made our kid sound like a law firm lol.
  • @kristinl492 @meanjellybean okay now you guys are making me feel way more excited about the name Maeve so I’m feeling even more sure it’s going to be a boy. 😂 But glad you like it just in case!
  • We are pretty set on Virginia (Ginny) Leih for a girl (my middle name), after hubby's late grandmother. We both adored her - she passed away last year. Boy name right now is Mac Aaron (and initials will also be MAC). I also liked the name Grayson John but hubs likes Mac better (and I think I do too). Hopefully we don't get sick of them by the time baby is born!
  • @zande2016 I love Rosalie and Rose. So pretty!

  • In September I shared our baby name list with someone from my last BMB, (we found out we were pregnant on the same day, ufortunately I MC) and she said they already had their names picked out. Except now I noticed they must have changed their minds, and are now using a name from my list when referring to baby. I can't say I'm mad, but I am a little hurt she never said anything because she knew it was on our list. If I hadn't mc, our due dates would have been 2 days apart. I know we could still use it, but now I don't think we will.
  • @modoodles that would hurt me. She could have genuinely forgotten it was on your list if they started rethinking names, but it would still rub me the wrong way. I just think MC brings a unique set of sensitivities and I can totally see name choice as one of them.
  • @modoodles ugh... that's so shitty. I'm sorry.
  • I'm in need of some help! I have a love for simple names and need one to go with my other kiddos.. I have a:

    Hannah
    Jason
    Emily

Haven't found out the gender of baby#4 yet, so.. would love to hear some suggestions for both. Thank you!

  • @knockupthestock you have such classic taste, I love it! Benjamin is also on our boy list!
  • I think we've settled on our names. If it's a girl, either Charlotte Rose or Quinn something, and for a boy, we really like Cole.
  • @lizzybean84 i loooove the name Charlotte!!!!!

  • @knockupthestock Yay, I'm so happy! It just seems like such a sweet name. I don't love the shortened versions like Charlie or Shar, but my husband suggested Lettie, which I'm coming around to. He loves the idea of us having a pet name for her like Lettiebug  <3
  • @lizzybean84 those are great names!

We’ve found out that we’re having boy #2 and now every boy name I’ve loved I feel eh about lol. I liked Henry, Benjamin. I already have a son named William whom we call Will most of the time. That was an easy name because it’s a family name. Stuck on this one...good thing there’s plenty of time 😂
  • @kristinl492 I love your names! Henry is such a regal classic, and I never met a Ben I didn't like. Will is so great too. Such a nice name.
  • @rachelredhead Two of my 1st cousins in same family group are Rachel and Benjamin.
  • @rachelredhead I'm dying laughing at that. It makes perfect sense though! I wouldn't want that either. Maybe you can just "wait and see what the baby looks like" and name him Benjamin after you've successfully given birth? ha
  • @stlbuckeye132 yeah, the name is still on our list, but I feel like that‘s a morbid caveat (option if mama don’t die). 😂😂😂  I’m guessing we’ll pick something else. I plan on telling my dad the kid would have been named after him but they decided to name me after a tragic lady in the Bible so them’s the breaks!
  • I have an ever growing list in my phone as time goes one 😬 it’s no where near shrinking down 😂
  • @rachelredhead just tell it to him straight!

  • @rachelredhead omg hahaha yeah I would avoid that name lineup. I would be too freaked out, and I'm not even religious lol.
  • I just thought of the name Abigail and was like, "ohh I think I like that one too!" and was about to add it to my list until I remembered BIL has a dog named Abby. Damn people giving their pets human names...

(I know tone doesn't come across through text, so just clarifying that the last part is being said tongue in cheek. My dog's name is Sophie.)
  • @stlbuckeye132 I hear you! I’d love the name Lilian for a girl. But our yorkie, that my husband named, is lily. And she’s his favorite person ever 😂
  • @nursejenn5 I need a longer list! I feel like I like so many names but very few for our own use.
  • @stlbuckeye132 Oh girl I hear you! I looove the name Max, but we had a cat named Max, and my girl's name choice is Charlotte, and we also had a cat named Charlotte when I was 9... I feel like I'd be endlessly teased by family if I went with both.
  • @nursejenn5 I need a longer list! I feel like I like so many names but very few for our own use.
  • My boy list has literally zero names on it. 😭 I would love a little boy but will not be able to name him. Hoping I can figure out at least a name or two before our anatomy scan so I’m not stressed if it’s a boy!
  • Dear @Pascal86,
You still have MONTHS to go after the anatomy scan to pick a name!

    From,
    A Procrastinator

Seriously, MH and I don't even bother really talking names until we know if we can narrow it down to boy or girl. And then we take forever to make a short list, because we don't agree. We made our short list for DD1 in the car on the way to the hospital lol. I won't recommend that exact plan, but she did have a name right after birth and all was well. ;)

  • @treeofcheem don't try to out-logic my anxiety!  :D We didn't ever really start talking names until post-anatomy scan for our first two kids (both girls). That being said, I have still been thinking about boy names I like for 4+ years, and my list continues to have zero names on it. I like to have a few names in mind months ahead of time, because I figure that there are a ton of names I've liked for a day or a week, but I like to think about them for months to be sure I'll like it long-term (or sure-er, anyway).

If it's another girl, I think we're set. But I'd still feel better if there was at least 1 boy name I liked!
  • Current favorite name is Charlie. The problem is that Charlie’s happens to be the name of our favorite local bar and place to eat. My parents are regulars there and know the staff pretty well. While it’s not a total dealbreaker, I can’t decide if it’s too weird to get over 😂
