  • @varimama yeah I came down with a cold on Friday and DH came down with the flu on Saturday. So 100% been panicking about catching the flu but my cold seems to be on the mend.

We had plans with family for New Years bc my cousins are all in town but that’s def not happening anymore. And since DH has the flu, we prob won’t even watch the TV specials together lol so it’ll be a lonely New Year’s Eve for me, but I prefer that over risking catching the flu.
  • @mrsc918 Sorry that you’re isolated because of your husband’s flu, but it’ll be worth it in the new year. 🤗
  • @kagesstarshroom are you excited about the job interview (i.e., do you think u’d take the job if offered)?

@varimama i missed or forgot about the oral pregnancy tumor. Is it on your gums? I hope the appointment goes well. Keep us posted.

For NYE we have a party with friends in our area. Kids are invited but it starts at 7 so I don’t know how many kids will actually be there. DS is is on an insane schedule lately (goes to bed around 11 pm [we put him down closer to 9 but he babbles to himself for hours], wakes up 7ish am, and naps like 2-5 or 3-6), so he will be able to hang at the party. He will prob want to stay longer than me. I am beat lately. I’m guessing we’ll stay until 9. I’ve never left DS with a sitter aside from his grandparents and it makes me anxious to do leave him with anyone else, so we have no option but to bring him.

  • I was MIA last week, just enjoying time off work for Christmas. It was so nice, but now there's no more stretch of time off before baby comes, so sh*t's getting real around here!

I'm sorry for everyone who's been sick or dealing with sick kiddos! I'm super nervous our time is coming, since DS had the flu last year in early February.

My cousin is in town from FL, and her daughter is the same age as DS, so we're having a toddler friendly NYE at my aunt and uncle's house. I highly doubt I'll be awake to see midnight, but I really don't care.

  • @kagesstarshroom Agreed! Makes no sense, you definitely need to try on maternity clothes, although I am guilty of ordering online, trying at home and then returning what doesn’t fit. So many places have free easy returns that doing that can still be more convenient then driving out to a store.

We’re invited to two NYE parties, one earlier and one later, not sure if we’ll go to one, both or neither. I’m usually the one who has to push DH to go to social functions, so if I’m not feeling it then we end up staying home. I decided to take a “sick day” tomorrow (I have no PTO besides sick leave that doesn’t roll over to next year), so that makes it more likely I’ll have energy to go out. I think no matter what we’ll watch the ball drop at home so we can go to sleep right after lol.
  • We got invited to a 20s themed NYE party. I think we will at least make an appearance. I’m tired just thinking about staying up that late though. Haha. The next day we are doing an early dinner at our house with my ILs, and then they’re taking DS home with them since we leave for Nashville the next morning at an ungodly hour. I’m a little nervous for the flight since I’ve heard the cabin pressure can cause BH contractions and I’ve been getting really painful ones lately. Luckily it’s only just over an hour flight so maybe it won’t be bad. I’ve never flown this far into pregnancy before! I will say I’m SUPER excited to see Nashville. I’ve never been and I have a list of things I’d like to see. H will be in conferences literally the entire time so I’ll be solo but I don’t even care.
  • @EmilyLove25 Thanks for asking! Yes, it's a FT TT job at a university that starts Fall 2020. FX that they love me because... a FT TT job just out of PhD school would really make me feel better about how much I've worked towards being a good candidate for such a job. And I haven't heard anything from anywhere else I've applied to except one rejection from Brown (which... I mean, Brown...was expected.)

@treetop19 I want to write a blog or something about how awful it is that capitalism has done away with maternity clothes being available in stores because it REALLY makes no sense? I know buying online is "easier" but.... of ALL types of clothes you'd want to try on, for me maternity clothes are it, good return policy or no.
  • @miss.sally I love Nashville! Have a great trip!
@kantobean That fancy dinner party sounds divine!

  • Hope everyone had a great new years! I’m impressed some of you went to parties!

I’m so bummed. I saw on fb yesterday that my OB is retiring end of 2020. He’s been amazing and I guess I just assumed he’d deliver all my babies. I know that’s a silly assumption bc obviously people move, retire, insurance changes, etc... I guess I’m happy he’ll still be here for this baby. I just hate finding new doctors whose views line with yours. It makes me scared to think about a 3rd baby because my experience might be very different and I was so happy with my first experience and so far everything has been pretty similar and familiar.

  • @varimama Good Morning my fellow early riser. I had that exact thing happen between my second and third pregnancies. I had literally been with my OB/GYN since college and then she left her practice right before I got pregnant with my third. I was panicked because I loved her so much, and I have a hard time finding doctors that vibe well with my anxiety. Well, I decided to switch to the midwife side of the same practice for this baby and I am so happy. All the midwives are lovely but I found one in particular that I just love, and they have been so friendly, helpful, and encouraging. So, it is possible to find someone you love just as much! I got lucky and it happened on the first try but I was prepared with a couple of back up options (recommended by friends) in case it didn’t.  I hope it works out the same for you!

@kagesstarshroom Good luck, and I SO want that for you. A FT teaching position freshly out of the PhD would be amazing. And Brown rejected me for undergraduate admission haha. I still remember that vividly LOL. Can't wait to hear how the interview goes. I know how intense those academic interviews can be.

@varimama Thank goodness he isn't retiring at the end of 2019 or while you are pregnant. That's a bummer though. I love having younger doctors because it increases my chance that I'll have them for longer haha. Maybe he can recommend someone to you?

ETA I am back at work today for the first time in two weeks. It's "fine," but I REALLY don't have actual work to do until after MLK day, so this truly is a waste of time... I mean it's NOT because I am getting paid, but it's frustratingly boring!

  • Are we thinking of moving to a private group before babies start coming?

I can't believe some ppl are already over 30 weeks, so I feel like some babies are on their way. My last BMB we had already moved to FB (from a private group) before anyone had their babies. Thoughts?

  • @silverhope I’d be up for trying a private group. I think a private group before fb makes sense. Not that our board has seen a lot of drama but I’d like to get to know you all better before fb.

  • @silverhope @varimama I've been thinking about this too. I'd be willing to do a private group for those of us who are actually active, and eventually a Facebook group with those of us who have consistent interaction.

  • @EmilyLove25 Thanks! The search committee seems so nice? I told them I was KU in the most recent email I sent so it wouldn't be a surprise, and in the head's reply he didn't dwell on it, but wished me a hearty congrats from the committee and then went into exquisite detail on answering my question, which I thought was a good sign.

@stac4056 Glad there's some solidarity for wanting to try stuff on IRL! I envy ppl who can online shop. I wonder if it's bc I am a weird size or if I'd be like this if normal sizes fit me or if *everyone* is a "weird size."

AFM:... today, I fainted on an airplane! Yay. I'm okay and everyone was super nice & i got help w/ my bags and wheel chair service and tried to let ppl take care of me (so hard for my stubborn self) and I am fine now. I called the ob & they were like "it's normal you will be fine do xyz"--not looking forward to having to fly again a week from Tuesday, but going to talk w/ them more about it at my appt. next week. happy friday to me.
  • @kagesstarshroom Glad you're okay! Fainting is scary, especially on a plane!

  • @kagesstarshroom ah that’s so scary!! The OB said this is normal?? I’m interested to see what they think you should do for your next flight. Even if “normal,” it’s dangerous you could hit your head. Glad you are okay.

  • @silverhope I will keep yall updated after my appointment on Tuesday--I too am curious about what she thinks about another flight. It's a 7.5 hour drive, though, which also sounds terrible, but if she says I should do that instead, I will.

@varimama @mrsvp614 It was certainly scary-- I was SO GLAD when I felt her kick again. I cried on the plane, and the guy next to me held my hand while we finished the landing and was talking me through the landing and saying just to breathe and I wish I could send him flowers.

@lemonlove86 @puppylove8910 Thanks for the well wishes!
  • private group! Private group! Add me add me add me!

@kagesstarshroom holy shit that’s terrifying! I’m so glad you’re ok!! In my family we are fainters. It’s scary every time.
  • @kagesstarshroom Hope that your flight back is a less eventful one if you end up flying! <3

  • @kagesstarshroom omg I’m sorry, that is terrifying!! I don’t blame you for crying afterwards and having anxiety. I get so annoyed when doctors brush things off and say it’s “normal”. I try to remind myself they are the professionals, but like...I need more reassurance than that lol Did you faint in the middle of the flight? I read somewhere they recommend you walk on the plane every hour so maybe that will help your blood flow next flight?
  • @silverhope can someone explain to me what’s a private group? Is that on this app? I deactivated my FB but I would bring it back for this group.
  • @mrsc918 the private groups are on the bump. It would be similar to this page but not public, so we would avoid lurkers basically. But I do think the plan is to move to Facebook eventually.
  • @kagesstarshroom I’m so glad you’re ok!! How scary.

I’m also up for a private group or FB group. I’d prefer FB actually. So much easier to access, but I’ll follow regardless. I think it’s definitely time with many of us being less than 10 weeks from baby. Whaaaaat?! Ahh. That’s crazy.

H and I are still in Nashville. It’s been a blast but my whole body feels totally dead. We have done so much walking that my feet and ankles have been very sore. But it’s worth it. Last night we went out in the city until 2am and boy oh boy I can’t do that anymore. Haha. H drank with his friends and I just hung out at all the bars and listened to music. It was actually a ton of fun but I was very ready to pass out by the time we were done. I got a photo with some dude because H’s friend was too nervous to ask himself to he used the pregnant lady as a buffer. I had NO idea who it was but afterwards I laughed and told H and he totally flipped out because I guess he’s actually a really famous ex-MLB dude and now is an analyst for MLB network. So he was super jealous of me and wanted to meet him also. Lol. That’s what he gets for leaving me alone in the bar...? 😂 We are headed back into downtown today to explore and then watch the Seahawks game and hopefully eat at Jason Aldeen’s restaurant. I’ve heard it’s really good. We leave tomorrow afternoon and I’m sad to go but I also miss my babies!
  • @miss.sally I agree I would rather move to FB but I know there are folks on here who would rather wait so I’m cool with whatever! Also, I can’t believe you were out until 2 am! Go you!
  • @kagesstarshroom, that sounds scary, glad you are ok.

@miss.sally, sounds like a fun time!

I'd be up for a private group or FB, though I don't really use FB at the moment.
  • I'll only be able to do a private group on here as I deleted FB a long time ago

Also @miss.sally Out until 2 AM?!?!?! OMG. Are you alive? Haha. I'd lose my mind. But I am SO glad you are having fun and that you are having fun with H after a crummy few weeks or what not. Yay!

@miss.sally Sounds pretty perfect! I think I could rally if there were live music and potential kind of famous people around haha
I am so frustrated with the bump site and app, neither seem to work at my house, so I really only get to check in while at work and whether I can post is always a crapshoot, so I always feel behind. But I'd love to keep up with you all so I am down for a private group or facebook!!
