@roo_baby I haven’t bought anything for this baby, and probably won’t for a while. But if you look in my amazon and Etsy carts they’re full of baby stuff. 😂
@blackgirlmagic we are mostly set from last time, too, but there are a few things that need to be updated or replenished. Like replacing the RNP with a true bassinet.
@psychobutthead You will share when you are ready. There’s no harm waiting until you feel more confident.
@roo_baby Hubs and I were browsing at the baby store today and I was sooooo tempted to start a registry, but just want to wait until after my first appt to make sure everything is okay. I did snap a pic of me in the "expecting mothers" parking space though 🥰

@ziggymama06 I'm always tempted to make registries even when I'm not pregnant. I just love baby stuff.
Anyone else thinking of names? We have ours picked. But i love those youtube videos of 10 baby names we love but won't be using.
Pregnancy #1 DD 08.30.2007 Pregnancy #2 Natural Miscarriage at 6 weeks 03/2014 Due date 11/9/2014 Pregnancy #3 DS 02.23.2015 Pregnancy #4 Missed Miscarriage at 11 weeks 11/2018 Due date 5/22/2019 Pregnancy #5 Positive test 12/11/2019 Due Date 8/17/2020
@psychobutthead (((hugs))) @roo_baby YEP! Mine is pretty much done. Some is more big girl stuff for DD, potty stuff etc. a few favorite type of neutral baby clothes we wished we had more of (footed pants, gowns), replenishable stuff like bath/skincare products, we never did have a diaper pail, DDs convertible seat etc. If nothing else, we'll get the completion discount and the welcome box. 🤷 No shame!
@roo_baby I feel a little lost without the RNP. I know it has always been a bit of a no-no, but both of my kids had such gnarly reflux they couldn’t sleep anywhere else. We elevated their butts so they weren’t at such an extreme incline but still, they weren’t completely flat. They seemed the most comfortable that way. Now that they are completely gone, I have no idea what to have them sleep in. I mean, I know that bassinets are a thing, but my oldest DESPISED the bassinet. The RNP worked for us, ya know? (Mother of the year over here😅) What are you planning on using?
@psychobutthead we have a girl name picked out, but are fresh out of boy names. We were lucky enough to both keep our heads and our sanity naming the second boy.
@ziggymama06 GIRL MAKE THAT REGISTRY! GET ON WITH YOUR BAD SELF!!
(Sorry for the ugly link. Ours is not a Disney one, but that's the only one Amazon seems to be showing me. Target or Walmart might have other versions.)
Had it in our bathroom mostly for her to sit in while I showered, and now it's in the living room as a little toddler chair.
We also had a bouncer chair that came with the PNP, and she actually slept in that A LOT, even though I guess they aren't supposed to. 🤷 It worked very well for us for naps, and tbh, I didn't use the RNP that much. DH used it more than I did, if she was napping in his office.
@BusinessWife oh yeah! We have one of those! My littles liked them for play. Once my oldest got old enough to sit up on his own he would sit up and throw himself back so that it would shoot him forward. 😅 I never though about nap time in it! Probably because my children are spicy little meatballs. Did she sleep in it for bedtime or did she have a bassinet for night time?
@duck_duck_goose Night time we did a mini crib sidecarred to the bed. She still sleeps in there actually :# we are going to have to transition over to her room for nighttime before this LO arrives. She will nap on her floorbed now, but she's still with us at nighttime.
ETA she also slept flat when possible on the bassinet level of the pnp. I was just thinking about that yesterday, remembering when she couldn't even roll over or sit! Great big girl now :)
@ziggymama06 that's Amazon for ya! You also apparently get 20% off diapers for their first year now? I don't think they had that for DD, but I was not planning on using disposables at all for her, so maybe it wasn't on my radar and I missed it. Just go through their checklist and either add a product from each category (or just check off the category). Spend $10 on something from your registry, and you're eligible for the box! They have other deals and offers from time to time if you watch, as well.
The completion discount is tricker so you have to look at the rules for that. It was good up to a certain dollar amount but only on two purchases. So to max it out, you kinda had to buy an awful lot at once IMHO. But that's a great option for most people, and then maybe like BBB or Target that also has a brick and mortar store for those types of family members. They should have a completion discount too after a certain point. Babylist also has a box, but last time I thought the Amazon box was better.
@ziggymama06 I’ve started adding things to a private amazon wishlist that i will transfer over to a registry later on. We should be pretty good on most things I’ve been hoarding since DD. A new diaper bag and a stroller wagon are on my list!
I started a registry. I did similar to what @BusinessWife did with adding a few things for my toddler. We should be set with our big stuff and clothes but I want to look at double strollers and probably a new baby monitor. I think it's fun to work on it! Makes me excited and the welcome box is a big perk!
@BusinessWife@WishesSheCouldCook@riatortillaxo Wow!! Thanks so much girls! I had no idea!! I'm definitely going to get on that. We were thinking of doing one online registry and one in store as well, so it's perfect! I was also leaning toward non-disposable diapers, but need to do a bit more research on them.

Ps. Sorry for the enormous post, I’m terribly behind with being off the cellular map for half a week.
Thank you for all the support ladies, I’m keeping good spirits until Tuesday, although it’s pretty far away.
Ugh ladies! Hope you can all stay away from the sickness! Being sick while pregnant is terrible.
@psychobutthead I hate that you’re unsure of your pregnancy and hope you can get more good answers soon
We have our boy name picked out, Carter Louis. We had that name quickly picked for my first pregnancy. We only agreed on one girl name with DD and it took FOREVER. So, I imagine it’ll be a hassle this time around if we have a girl. It’s never too early to think about names!
@wishesshecouldcook Happy (late) Anniversary. How are you feeling today? Hopefully it was just a one day pregnancy funk! I don’t blame you, I can’t imagine poking my finger. I almost had to with DD, you’re a trooper.
@businesswife such a precious reveal, I love that everyone was emotional! I don’t blame you for wanting to keep it, I had the same struggle with DD when we gave my mom an ultrasound to announce to her.
You can always make another ornament and onesie if you’d like! I’m sure your MIL will really love having that little sentiment.
Sorry DH was a little upset over it. I think there’s a stigma around IVF and loss sometimes. Unfortunately it all happens and planning a baby doesn’t go the “perfect” way or by some “regular” book way. Your journey is your journey, it needs to be embraced and at the end of the day that’s what gave your your beautiful babies and it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks!!
I just now read your second post and that’s a tough battle and I can see where DH is coming from. I hope you find peace in it all.
@tyrion_ I have no idea why but I had a strong twin feeling going into my first appointment but the doctor didn’t see anything yet. I don’t have the same feeling but it could happen lol
@photographerwife wow, I’m so sorry about that whole ordeal. That was your business and your business only. These first few weeks are filled with so much worry and you only need to focus on that not other people getting involved and spreading your news without your permission.
My mom car will be a Hyundai Palisade, they’re new as 2020 but very nice looking.
Our big items were gender neutral so if we have a boy we’ll just need clothes, bedding and swaddles.
DD slept in a mamaRoo for a few weeks. I know they shouldn’t sleep in swings, that was pretty much the only “rule” I broke but I felt a little better about it because she had an Owlet monitor so I would know if something happened.
Registries are so fun, I love window shopping for baby stuff, especially the free boxes you get when you start registries!
The Target registry bag was totally worth it. It came with a Dr. Brown's bottle, and that ended up as the only one we use (I'm a SAHM, so I don't need multiple bottles).
We did cloth diapering for my son’s first year and want to do it again. I saw that diapering is one of the upcoming product spotlights. I didn’t love the ones we had so I’m excited to learn more from you ladies @coldlife@BusinessWife.
@blackgirlmagic we are mostly set from last time, too, but there are a few things that need to be updated or replenished. Like replacing the RNP with a true bassinet.
@psychobutthead You will share when you are ready. There’s no harm waiting until you feel more confident.
I also need to replace the RNP. We used ours a lot for my daughter and i'm kind of freaked out by them now. I'm excited for the bassinet product spotlight if there is one!
Married July 2014 DD born June 2016 Second due August 2020 (team green!)
Our RNP is in storage I need to get it out and do something with it. I wonder if target would do anything. We don’t have a buy buy baby but we have a bed bath and beyond.
Yes the amazon welcome box and target registry bag were awesome. I had to go back several times to target to finally get mine since they kept running out, and then I ended up with 3 of them. We got so many free avent bottles I never needed to purchase any.
We still have our RNP and I may use it occasionally when I’m wide awake and actively watching him/her. But I definitely need a bassinet situation for overnight. My friend loved the snoo. She bought and sold on Craigslist for the same price so it was practically free. But it makes a lot of white noise and I don’t think I can handle that.
+1 to cloth diapers! And all the more natural and eco-friendly products. Looking forward to the big diaper chat when it’s time.
@ziggymama06 between the diapers we got at our baby shower and the cash we received, we didn’t have to buy diapers or wipes with our own money until after she was one. I was shocked! And at that point we used the Kirkland brand for diapers and wipes.

I also do cloth diapers! I love them and I want to get more since my son will still be in diaper when this one is born so I am open to all the suggestions!!
I feel soooo stupid. But I am feeling better emotionally.
I just couldnt get over why I was 5 weeks and 1 day and not where I was supposed to be. I kept questioning my hcg level and the scan.
Then I realized the due date nthey originally gave me was based on my lmp. Which they automatically put your cycle down as 28 days. Mine arent. Mine are 30 days sometimes more.
So I compared what my due date should be for a 30 cycle compared tonthe ultrasound measurement.
It just measures 4 days behind! So I'm feeling alot better now. Feel stupid though.

@psychobutthead you're not stupid! That makes perfect sense. They calculate these things based on averages, which by their very nature are off for A LOT of the population! I'm glad you figured at least part of it out that it's not nearly so alarming, and fx your next appointment shows everything 1000% as it should be. ❤️
@BusinessWife thanks. I wish my appointment was sooner but don't want to take my kids with me so it will have to do.

@psychobutthead not stupid at all! I have a similar concern. The dating US they did just doesn’t make sense when I do the math. If it’s accurate, it means I got a + FRER at 3w exactly (and cheapie squinters at 2w6d). It’s only off by 2-3 days from when I believe I ovulated, but it’s driving me crazy.
Dirty lurker**** Just an FYI for those concerned about a possible twin pregnancy.... your chances do not go up at all if your spouse or someone on your spouses side has twins or if there are spontaneous identical twins on your side of the family.... There is an increased chance if on your maternal side (direct female relative) there are fraternal (di/di) pregnancies where more than one egg was released. There is an increased chance in very young and late AMA women because there is a higher chance of more than one egg being released in those age groups or if you did ART. (IUI's with multiple follicles or IVF where there is an increased chance a single embryo may split, or you put in more than one embryo) Though twins are a lot of work, they are amazing. MoM's can do anything!

@psychobutthead You are absolutely not stupid. It's okay to be worried, and this makes complete sense! Can't wait to hear about your next appointment when they tell you all is as it should be.
Has there been any discussion about doulas yet? Anyone have experience with or thinking about hiring one? Still feeling so much anxiety about labor/delivery. I thought maybe I could look into some near me. Any thoughts?
@psychobutthead Glad you are feeling better emotionally, that's so important. And you are not stupid at all! I have shorter than average cycles and really had to search the internet to find a due date calculator that would take that into account.
@lachnessmomster I don't think there has been a discussion on doulas yet, but I am fairly certain I will be hiring one. This is my first pregnancy and I want to go natural/non-medicated. I've heard wonderful things from a few friends who have had doulas. My doctor's practice is pretty unique in that they have midwives (who I've seen pre-pregnancy) and a doula on staff. When I go in for my appointments I'm going to inquire about meeting with the doula.
ETA: I wanted to have a midwife do my delivery, but apparently only the doctor does them there. I'm going to see how my appointments go. There's lots of info on their website about natural births though, so I don't think it should be a big deal.

@lachnessmomster I am planning to hire a doula, for many of the same reasons as @ziggymama06... it’s my first pregnancy, I want to go as natural as possible.. another reason is that for some reason I get annoyed when my husband tries to coach me, but I’ll listen to people other than him. I have competed in various sports and when my husband tries to give coaching advice, it makes me mad... but if my coach tells me the same thing, I’m all ears. Not sure if labor will be the same way but I’d rather have a doula there just in case it is 😂
@psychobutthead That can happen to anyone! Happened with my daughter. If I hadn’t been tracking I would have been freaked out about being a week behind. But I happened to be temping and knew I O’d later than the average. Big hugs to you, it’s still nerve racking waiting for confirmation that everything is ok. Hope the time passes quickly for you.
@wildermind I updated in the December announcement thread but *TW in spoiler*
These were twins. But one didn’t make it and I had what is termed “vanishing Twin syndrome” aka the loss of one of the babies. I was shocked and couldn’t believe I had had all these feelings about twins and I was right.
My husband goes back to work tomorrow and I’m super sad. We are gonna miss him but I’m happy it’ll be Friday. Monday is gonna be hard on the kids getting back into the normal routine. My son asked when my husband can stop working like I did 😢
@lachnessmomster we hired a doula and plan to do it again. I identified so much with everything you said @fitandnerdy lol I don't take my husband's instructions too well lol and I mean, he really didn't know what to tell me anyway. I think he felt a bit out of his depth. But he was able to support in the ways he DID know how, like feed us, make calls or run to the store if need be, things like that. The first doula we hired had to back out due to a family issue, and I almost didn't find another one in time. She was great. I still didn't get the delivery I'd hoped for, but at least I know we pulled out all the stops.
@tyrion_ H goes back to work on Monday and it's going to suck here too. The boys have enjoyed having home so much, that our first day without him will suck monkey balls.
@tyrion_ the first one I found pretty much by doing some Google searching, and there's some kind of doula organization as well, that you can search by your area. The second gal I actually found referred to me by my chiropractor. 🤷 I definitely recommend some kind of word-of-mouth asking around, because the second one that I ended up using, I really didn't see at all through all the searching I did in the first place. She has a massage studio and is a licensed massage therapist, but also works as a doula.
@psychobutthead I’m so happy to hear that you’re feeling better emotionally. Ovulation and cycle lengths can be so janky. Pinning down due dates for me has always been such a pain in the ass because I haven’t temped and have a hard time pinning down ovulation.
I have a friend who is a doula and I have been kind of curious about what having a doula would be like and if it will make my husband and I more comfortable with labor (he gets really stressed and anxious during labor. More so than me). I’m not sure if I am 1.) comfortable with someone I know outside of pregnancy and child birth as a doula, and 2.) if I really like the idea of someone else in the room with us during the actual birth. It’s something that I would have to think about and possibly talk to her about.
I have never had a doula. Having high risk pregnancies and preemie babies isn't exactly their bread and butter. I will say that I love the idea of one.
As an aside, if you have any birth photographers in your area, look into them. We got birth photography for our boys and it was amazing. You forget a lot and it's nice to have pics. Plus, there will be someone to capture your partner's face the first time they see baby. It's pure magic seeing that.
Thanks for all of the feedback, ladies! I went ahead and emailed a local business today and received their welcome packet featuring services and prices. There’s even placenta encapsulation! I think I’m at least going to set up a phone interview to see if it would be a good fit. It is a little on the expensive end, though, so I'm not sure if it'll be a go or not.
