We had a pretty busy weekend this weekend! My son was supposed to have swimming yesterday morning but my MS was so bad that we skipped it. Then in the afternoon my parents and sister and her roommate came over and we made around 20 dozen tamales!
Then today hubs let me sleep in til 1:30p and we went out shopping this afternoon and went to my parents for dinner!
Tomorrow I have my first ultrasound!

I am finally coming up for air since before Christmas. My EDD is 8/26 based on my LMP. I have a dating u/s this Thursday so fingers crossed that all is well. Christmas was not relaxing because I was hosting mine and DH family for the entire time between Christmas and New Years. I was so relieved to see them go because the symptoms have been killing me. At this point I am only 6w 5 days and I have already had my head in the toilet. As this is my 4th pregnancy I guess it makes sense for symptoms to arrive early but this is ridiculous. I am full-on feeling nausea, exhausted, and my boobs are ridic huge and sore. DH says I should stay home from work but this could go one for another month or more! A part of me thinks I should be relieved for these symptoms even if I feel like I could yack at any moment. But, my logical brain knows that symptoms don't always mean something when you've had a previous loss.
Hope you all had a great holiday!
I have already told DH that we are not doing this kind of hosting next year!
@radiohd18 I hope you start feeling better! Also I read research that morning sickness does mean something even if you've had a previous loss. You are less likely to miscarry.
Hello! I’m due August 23 which also happens to be my birthday. Feeling kinda crummy with some GI issues causing a lot of abdominal cramping . Started progesterone supplements last night too which has me feeling extra nauseous on top of the intestinal issues Fingers crossed this baby makes it...this is pregnancy #7 for us but would be live birth #3
1 chemical and 1 loss at 9 weeks prior to DS IVF #1 1/10-transfered 2 blasts- DS born 10/2010
Trying for # 2 since 2012. 2 failed FETS 1 failed IUI.
I'm late to the party because I was so exhausted and lazy this weekend. I took a nap on Sunday then slept through the entire night. Guess I needed the sleep?!! So not a fan of a full work week this week and already looking forward to having MLK day off. And I had a half day yesterday because of my appt... Going to be a long week.
@emiliadkay How was Little Women? How does it compare to the one with Wynona Rider?
@riatortillaxo I love sushi!! Glad no one suspected anything. I always feel like everyone is going to wonder and the truth is that no one cares lololol... I actually really enjoy veggie sushi rolls, especially sweet potato. I know it sounds so weird, but trust me!
Me: 33 DH: 36 Dating 4/2008 Married 6/2016 TTC #1 9/2019 BFP 12/13/2019! EDD 8/27/2020 Baby Girl
@ziggymama06 Glad you were able to indulge in the sleep last weekend, and hope we can all make it to another glorious nap-filled couple of days soon, though they feel so far away now! Little Women was pretty great -- I cried like a baby even though the ending was not a surprise. I've actually never seen the original movie, but one thing I didn't realize about the remake is that they really play with the timeline with flashbacks and flash forwards. I found it jerky at first but it worked to keep the telling of a well-known story fresh.
We went house hunting on Saturday. Really loved the first house we saw that morning. Put an offer in for it early Sunday morning. The seller accepted first thing Monday morning. My week so far has been busy scheduling inspections and tests for the home. We were not expecting this so soon. We thought we wouldn't be able to put in an offer until at least February 1st on a home because DH doesn't start his new job until April but it does appear everything is working in our favor thus far. This will be our first home and hopefully our forever home. We are so excited with the possibility of leaving apartment living behind for good very soon.
Hi Ladies! Im patiently waiting for the September board to open. My EDD is 9/8. I’m 33 and this will be our third baby. Hope everyone is well. I’m still waiting for the morning sickness to hit me, but I’m happy I’m feeling good so far. If you all don’t mind I’ll be in the background for a little while here until the September board opens
My due date is 8/28 based on LMP and 8/31 based on ovulation (I think I'll go with that until I have my dating US next Friday).
So far I don't feel too bad, which is kind of freaking me out! I was soooo sick when I was pregnant with DD, so that's what I have been expecting. I am really exhausted (having a toddler will do that I guess) and have had some headaches, insomnia, and heartburn but no major aversions or nausea so far. I'm eating every meal like it is my last; I am so scared for MS to kick in any moment. I also have major preg-brain; I've been visualizing all of these things I am going to say on here and now that I have a moment to do it I am just staring blankly out the window. I am really glad I don't have to deal with a job right now...
@smsaulino Congrats on the house! We purchased our home when I was 5 months with my first kid and it was wonderful to be able to move into a bigger space before baby. Although I wasn’t a great help with the actual moving process. 😂
Hi all, I just had my first ultrasound today and we saw a teeny tiny heartbeat which placed me at a due date of Aug 30! A week later than going by my LMP, but excited for an August baby nonetheless. My dad has an August birthday and will be excited to share his birth month.
Hi all! Have my first appointment next week and I can't wait! EDD 8/28... this will be our first baby so my husband and I are back and forth between googling everything and pretending nothing is happening hahaha it's all really overwhelming. I haven't posted much but I'm reading everything! Thank you all for sharing and I hopefully will be able to chime in soon. Also I miss wine
I'm going to steal Week 3's GTKY from last weekend. It'll duplicate intros a bit, but I know I at least have been guilty of not following along on that thread as closely as I'd like to.
GTKY: What kind of work do you / your partner do?
I'm a corporate attorney. It's not always the most exciting of jobs (and when it is, it is usually trouble), but I work with good people and the work/life balance is pretty amazing compared to what a lot of lawyers deal with. DH works in fundraising for a local non-profit. I'm jealous of his job sometimes -- he gets to meet all these interesting people and work for an organization he really, really believes in. But he also works a lot of nights and weekends and doesn't have much location or hours flexibility during the week. The job I have allows him to do what he does, and he's great about acknowledging that. That's enough for now, and I choose to believe these things even out over the course of a career/lifetime.
@laurenaward Welcome... I went to Motherhood Maternity today for the first time and bought this shirt... PS I didn't realize all of their stores were closing!! I'm finally pregant and they close?! 😭

Thanks again @ziggymama06 for getting the conversation started!
I am a teacher. I work as the reading specialist at an elementary school with grades K-5. I mostly work with the struggling readers in small groups doing reading interventions to help them catch up to their peers. This is my second year in this postion. I taught 5th grade Language Arts for 2 years and also was a preschool teacher at a Head Start preschool right out of college. I really do love my job! I work with some wonderful kids and families and in this position I have less of the take home work that I used to have when I taught 5th grade.
My husband went to school for exercise science and got his master's in recreational therapy. He persued this for a bit after graduation, but he had always had a passion for building, wood working, and home renovation. We bought a house and flipped it while he was working as a recreational therapist and he decided to quit his job and start his own remodeling business. It was a gamble. I was nervous, but thankfully I carry our insurance and I get a steady paycheck. His business has been going strong for 2 years! He enjoys what he does even if it sometimes means working on weekends to meet deadlines. It also means less time to work on all of our projects at our own house! But he is happy and helping to provide for our family and he has the flexibility to adjust his schedule when we need it, so I have few complaints!
@emiliadkay Being an attorney is a cool job! I'm glad your work/life balance is still good since I know it can be a demanding job.
@riatortillaxo That is so cool that your husband started renovating and flipping! I love watching HGTV and always think to myself that I wish I was talented in that area because it seems so interesting and fun.
I am a school psychologist. I like the school schedule and working with kids. I don't love other aspects of my job. It's a lot of meetings, contentious situations, collaborating with people who are hard to collaborate with, report writing, ect. I've been looking for a way out of the field but it's so hard giving up the school schedule and my state pays really well.
My husband is a detective. He likes it overall. He works long hours so he's gone when we wake up and we eat dinner before he gets home.
Married July 2014 DD born June 2016 Second due August 2020 (team green!)
@riatortillaxo Lol, my FIL is a plumber/electrician and MIL is always complaining about how she has more unresolved plumbing/electric issues than anyone else in town. What types of renovations are his favorite to do -- full homes or are there certain rooms in particular? Your job sounds incredibly rewarding - also hard, but I'm grateful there are people like you in these positions, who really love what they do and care deeply about students' outcomes.
@samsonator What ages/school level do you work with? My Dad is a therapist, and he's always said that if he could just meet with clients and leave the administration and paperwork aspects of his job behind he'd do it a lot longer than he's planning to. Those sound like really long days for YH -- is that time made up to him somehow (extra vacation or otherwise) or is that the schedule 5 days a week, week-in, week-out?
@emiliadkay Yes I agree about leaving paperwork behind. It sucks up so much time. I work in a junior high so 6th-8th. My husband has a long commute closer to the city so he leaves @ 5am to get there by 6 and is off at 4, but has a 1.5 hour commute home due to increased traffic plus he often has to stay late. He does get nice overtime checks for the extra hours he has to do! Luckily he also has weekends off unless he is called out.
Married July 2014 DD born June 2016 Second due August 2020 (team green!)
I’m self-employed/a small business owner. I own a small fabric company with my aunt (I run the business & handle all the customer facing portions). I also have a handmade business where I upcycle apparel into handbags/purses. It’s not as lucrative as my previous job (I worked for a bank), but I love the flexibility since I also care for our 4yr old.
My husband is in tech sales- he’s an account manager for a company that sells microchips. He’s also pursuing his MBA.
@emiliadkay That’s pretty cool! I’m sure you’ve seen some interesting things with your work! My husband and I have gone through ebbs and flows of working more for stability vs passion. It’s all a season in life- things change. 😊
@riatortillaxo I always admire teachers, especially those who educate the younger kids. So much heart goes into it!
@samsonator Is moving into a private practice an option? Granted you’d lose the school schedule, but could be easier for collaboration with coworkers.
@samsonator Our school psych last year left at the end of the year to work at a private school because she would be able to spend more time working with kids. I know what you mean about the rough meetings...
@emiliadkay He often does bathroom remodels. It just seems to be a popular part of the house that people like to update. He also does a lot of a flooring installation and refinishing. But he is up for anything really! I think the variety of the job is part of what appeals to him.
@kimbo262 Your job sounds so nice! It is nice to have the flexibility to care for child and do what you love!
I'm a SAHM. Before I had my daughter, I volunteered in a hospital for several years, mostly bringing pet therapy dogs to the children. I absolutely loved it. It wasn't just a hobby for me. For as long as I can remember, I've always enjoyed giving my time to the community. I was going to school for awhile to get my Associate's in Medical Billing/Coding but when I became pregnant with my daughter, I never went back to finish. I have about a year left.
My husband is about to finish up his medical training, after 13 1/2 years of higher education. He will be an attending physician in GI pathology, Pediatric pathology. It's been such a long road and we're super excited to see the light at the end of the dark and winding tunnel.
@riatortillaxo@samsonator I have a lot of respect for people in education! I was a teacher for a few years and it was so stressful. The students were the best, but my administration created unnecessary stress for teachers
@emiliadkay I sometimes wish I would have done law school instead of PhD (especially after I talked to some immigration lawyers for a project I was working on), but I'm too far in at this point to switch now lol
@kimbo262 even if it's not as lucrative, it must be nice to have such flexibility!
I am getting my PhD in economics. I have about 2.5 years left (of a 6 year program)... done with classes/exams and in the dissertation phase. My research interests are in labor economics looking at topics like education, immigration, and health. The next part of my PhD involves coming up with a "job market paper", which basically has to be a snazzy paper that you present at various institutions in the 6th year to try to get a job. I'm hoping I can have an idea solidified before the baby so I can apply for data if needed before and then when I get done with maternity leave, have my idea and data access taken care of so I can do some analysis and write!
My husband is a project manager for a biotech/pharmaceutical company. He likes it for the most part and it's fairly flexible with allowing WFH a few days a week.
Hi ladies I'm pretty sure I belong here. My MS had been irregular for the last 3 months so I'm not sure when I got pregnant. But as of an ultrasound I was 5weeks last week and I hope to get my due date confirmed this Thursday via US. All I know is I'm very excited for this pregnancy. I have 3 boys and 1 step son so I'm really hoping for a girl this time. #fingerscrossed.
@kimbo262 That's so cool! How did you decide to start a business like that? Also I can't do private practice because I'm not credentialed for it in my state
@smsaulino bringing therapy dogs to kids sounds really rewarding. Do you think you'll ever finish your medical coding degree?
Married July 2014 DD born June 2016 Second due August 2020 (team green!)
@emiliadkay That's great that you have a good work/life balance, that's so important and sometimes lost on companies. YH job sounds awesome, aside the nights and weekends, and good on him to acknowledge that your job allows him to follow his passions. I'm a believe that things even out too.
@riatortillaxo Our husbands sound so similar.. MH studied exercise science/sports medicine and worked recruiting for his college's football team. The hours were long and the pay was crap so he left. We've done tons of updates in our current home, including two bathrooms (which are really fun) and even added an additional floor. Hubs loves reno work and would love to flip houses, but they are pretty pricey in our area and it seems the market for flips has gone down a bit. We just found a perfect house to move to where everything needs to be updated, but its clean so we can live in it as we renovate and make this our dream forever home, fx. That's so awesome that YH gets to do this as his full-time job.
@samsonator Both your and YH job's sound so interesting. I love psychology.. and a detective just sounds so cool!
@kimbo262 How cool you work with fabric?! I have a sewing machine that has been buried for quite some time now! So fun you get to be creative.
@smsaulino How wonderful you brought service dogs to children. I always thought that would be so rewarding... and I love dogs, I mean who doesn't?!
@fitandnerdy Good luck with your studies!! Schooling is never easy. It sounds like our hubs work in similar positions on the opposite sides.
I'm a certified financial planner and I absolutely love my job. I've always liked helping people and initially began studying psychology. I was always good with numbers and financial planning is similar to psychology in that I talk with clients and know what is going on in their lives to best advise them. When I'm not meeting in person with clients, I can dress casual at work My husband works in pharmaceutical market research and he gets to work from home... our dog is his coworker and I'm jealous!

@ziggymama06 sounds like they do work in similar positions! I think I was reading the TTGP thread (because I was bored and there wasn't much else going on...) and I noticed there were a lot of NJ people. I think you were one of them? We are NJ/PA area, so there are many pharma and biotech companies around here!
August 28th is my repeat csection date, which was already a little later than my OB wanted to go, but I'm really crossing my fingers I can cook this baby long enough to be a virgo (because I'm a virgo myself). Fun fact: this baby shares the same due date I did (Sept 1st), however he/she will for sure be an August baby
Hi! My name is Kimberly, I’m due 8/25 (based on LMP) with Baby #4. I’ve been lurking a bit since I had a MC in September at 9 weeks (baby stopped progressing at 6 weeks) but everything seems to be going so much more smoothly this time 🤞🏻
I’m a Sign Language Interpreter so much job is very flexible which I love! Baby #4 is quite the “gap baby”. My oldest is 19, next is 12, then 5, then new baby! I’m enjoying meeting everyone!
GTKY: What kind of work do you / your partner do? I work in IT, I do QA and knowledge material for the Service Desk at my company. I am going to school right now for computer science and hope to move into a system admin role once I finish!
My husband is a mechanical engineer who works at a nuclear engineering consulting firm. He does calculations to help determine issues in nuclear power plants that need to be corrected so there isn't a failure if there's an earthquake or tornado or other natural disaster.

My husband is in tech sales- he’s an account manager for a company that sells microchips. He’s also pursuing his MBA.
@riatortillaxo I always admire teachers, especially those who educate the younger kids. So much heart goes into it!
@samsonator Is moving into a private practice an option? Granted you’d lose the school schedule, but could be easier for collaboration with coworkers.
My husband is about to finish up his medical training, after 13 1/2 years of higher education. He will be an attending physician in GI pathology, Pediatric pathology. It's been such a long road and we're super excited to see the light at the end of the dark and winding tunnel.
Also I can't do private practice because I'm not credentialed for it in my state
@smsaulino bringing therapy dogs to kids sounds really rewarding. Do you think you'll ever finish your medical coding degree?

When I'm not meeting in person with clients, I can dress casual at work
