Re: Randoms Dec 16-22

  • @heyybritt I did cookies on Sunday and it's usually more fun, but my back hurt from all the standing. But I do have tons of cookies now!

We usually like putting the kids to bed and opening a nice bottle of wine while we assemble toys and get the tree all ready for Christmas morning. It's really nice to have some time for just the two of us by the Christmas tree. Then we get up early the next morning so we can have a cup of coffee before the kids wake up. They call us to come get them and then we all walk out and see what Santa brought. It's so much fun. Followed by a yummy breakfast and a lazy day. Although my mom will be here for Christmas dinner this year, so that will be fun too.

  • @pirateduck I personally would love a nice holiday with just me, MH, and dd. I hate that we don't get to make our own traditions and have our own Christmas because he feels the need to be with his mother and brother because "there's only two of them and they don't have anyone else" they chose to be alone I chose to have a family we all make choices. I just want dd to wake up in her own house and us do Christmas as a family without the on lookers, extended family are there for parties not Christmas mornings.
  • Ok, I'm starting a holiday thread....
  • @jhysmath I put my foot down and refused to travel for Christmas once I had kids. My kids wake up in their own beds for Chrismas morning, period. Sometimes we will travel early Christmas afternoon and  stay with family for a few days to do a belated Christmas and I'm willing to do Christmas early as long as we're home Christmas Eve afternoon. I feel like that's more than reasonable.
  • I was really looking forward to going out for Chinese food after our anatomy scan on the 26th with my husband, but now it's been rescheduled and I have to go right to work after the scan...  there is actually a work function I need to attend so I can't just switch which day I'm off for the scan.  I still want the Chinese food.  I have been thinking about it for a week.  Enjoy @rox7777 !

  • We're doing crab tonight. I'm trying to get excited, but chinese food is sounding pretty good. We do chinese takeout every year for Valentine's day. Yum!

  • We revealed to my family tonight with dds sister bear shirt. She wore it for an hour opening presents and playing and no one caught on. Finally my mom I guess got it and asked but we were sitting with her for a good 20 minutes before she figured it out. We reveal in the am to MIL. MH said he thinks he already told BIL when they had a party and he had a few too many a couple weekends ago, but BIL hasn't brought it up again so he's not sure if he did actually say something your dreamt it. I'm excited to go spend the whole day with my family after we open presents here tomorrow. I'm thinking about staying so late that I'll just have to spend the night because I'm really done with the MIL thing after being around her for 3+ days. And she's going to be so obnoxious about this pregnancy and I just don't want to deal with it.
  • @rox7777 @drkoyya we do Chinese food for Christmas dinner every year as a nod to my Jewish roots. It was delicious.
  • I just want to put this somewhere because I’m exhausted. My four year old fractured his tibia on Christmas Eve and we spent 4 hours at urgent care on Christmas Day getting x rays and a splint done. He can’t walk until he gets his cast Jan 6. So basically I’m even more chained to fetching his stuff and listening to him whine than normal. And he’s heavy and my poor back. Okay. Got that off my chest.
  • @rox7777 Oh no! I am sorry. I hope it heals quickly. Do you have a toddler carrier you can use?

  • @m6agua He’s far too heavy to carry for more than 5 minutes or so. Especially at 21 weeks pregnant. I’m just shuffling him from the couch to the bed for now.
  • @rox7777 so sorry to hear this! Hopefully otherwise you were able to have a nice holiday and he heals quickly!

  • @rox7777 oh no! Poor him and you. Would he still fit in a stroller? Also why are they making him wait so long to cast it?
  • @rox7777 Oh no, that's awful! I can't believe they haven't casted it yet. You must both be miserable.
  • @mamaj1220 @ruby696 They wont cast for 4-6 days at the earliest because he’s only 4 and they wanted the swelling to go down so they didn’t have to recast later. Plus the Children’s orthopedist didn’t have many openings. He does fit in the stroller, but we’re just going to be hanging at home until then.
