I stocked up on some basic shirts and 3 pairs of shorts from motherhood maternity. They are going out of business. Whats crazy is i fit into a normal xl there today. I have maternity shirts from target in 2x that are way tooo small. This is why I can't shop online nothing is even similar sizing wise.

I’m struggling to hide my blump at work in business casual clothes 😏 I’m 10 weeks and I want to keep things to myself for 2 more weeks. Let me know your tips!
I just went window shopping on Old Navy's website and there are some cute options for spring dresses, if anyone else is like me and hates wearing pants!
@wednesdaygirl1019 I actually don't own a pair of trousers (sorry I'm British so pants only means underpants to me). I have one pair of jeans and then the rest of my wardrobe is dresses and skirts, with a few pairs of gym leggings. I just hate how trousers fit me.
@tara4910 have a hunt through your wardrobe, you might find somethings that might work for the office that you wouldn't usually wear. Remember you only need five outfits max. I've found dresses with a little of draping at the front are good for hiding it because in profile you only see the outline of the draping not the bump. I don't know how much longer I can keep it hidden though, I'm a teacher of 11-16 year olds. I'm going to tell work in about 2 weeks but last time I didn't tell any of the kids until I was 20w but I think this time it's probably going to be pretty obvious by 16w.
@tara4910 it’s always really cold in my office, so I wear sweaters or jackets to cover up my blump. Loose dresses also work well. But the other day I was so incredibly bloated I felt like my bump was super obvious. I resorted to holding my laptop or a jacket in front of it whenever I had to walk around 🤦🏼♀️
@tara4910 all the flowy tops, loose dresses with leggings and oversized sweaters (luckily on trend right now). Keep wearing your normal jeans, but use a hairband to keep them up. Loop it around the button, through the button hole and back around the button. Will buy you an extra few weeks. Also bright lipstick, a cute new blazer, new hairstyle, etc. will help distract people from your midsection.
Well my boss knows now (that's another story) so I can stop trying to GAF about hiding it! 😩
But man, I guess I need to get my motherhood lounge pants while I still can then!!! I love / lived in the cropped ones I got from there last time, and I need to get some full length ones for PP.
@tara4910 The chunky/oversized sweaters like others have mentioned and add a scarf to your tops too... you can leave them long flowing which will help cover you a bit.

Thanks everyone! I guess I need to dig around for some things I wouldn’t normally wear. I love the distraction ideas too - I just need to get through 2 more weeks! 😬
Okay, so hear me out. I know they're kind of expensive, but I splurged (before the big budget conversation - ) on some Tupelo Honey maternity pants. I just received them yesterday, and I am in love with these mama maternity pants. I got them in gray heather, and the fabric is like butter. These will definitely be packed in my hospital bag to slip on after birth!
After weeks of being gassy by the end of the day wearing leggings from Target that are still too tight, even though they're "maternity," or pulling my pants up constantly because I'm not quite big enough to fit into my entire maternity stash yet, these are so comfortable. I also got a pair of their leggings to try, so I have high hopes for those as well.
Just thought I'd throw it out there FWIW.
Edited to say that I just put on the leggings, and they're equally amazing. And made in the USA! ☺️
@lachnessmomster I hadn't heard of that brand but oh man those pants look comfy. You can tell YH that hatch sells basically the same thing for 3x the price, so really you were being fiscally responsible I feel like I need these pants and also some cute sneakers to go with them... (right?)
Oof. Just what I was afraid of. The pants I had my eye on at motherhood are gone. :( So we'll just have to see what kind of substitute I can come up with on Amazon or something... :/
@emiliadkay That makes me feel so much better. I'm honestly just happy to have some options that make me feel GOOD when most things just make me feel pretty "mehh" right now. I'm definitely going to be rocking them with my sneakers!
@lachnessmomster I ordered a couple of stretchy dresses from Tupelo Honey. I think they'll be versatile - I'll wear them with cardigans, button downs, blazers, etc. Those pants are super cute and look so comfy. I bought a pair of jeggings from Loft in a size bigger than normal because I am getting so uncomfortable but not quite ready for maternity pants and when I put them on, the zipper broke! I'm pretty sure it was defective but it certainly didn't help my confidence!
Where is the middle ground between leaving my regular pants unbuttoned and just switching to maternity pants? Because I can't get away with pulling my shirt down low over my normal work pants for much longer. And there's no rubber band trick that I know of for dress pants with the little metal clasps. I tried on some maternity pants but the big stretchy fabric that goes over your belly was way too loose. It was just so much fabric. And I can't find any dress pants with the side panels. HELP!!! 😫
@bebeyoda0820 I bought the Gap maternity “easy pants” - they are pull-on below the belly work pants and they have an elastic waist at the back. They are working well for this awkward stage. Also - dresses.

Me! I'm 12 weeks now and I've had something to hide the last 6 weeks. I wear maternity pants because comfy. I wear loose tops and a ton of cardigans so when I am up and walking around I just need to pull it close like I'm cold. Which is true because the 3 men here keep it 65 year round. I also have a company fleece jacket that I wear frequently and zip up just enough to hid the bump and put things in the pockets so there is an "excuse" for it to stick out a little. Also dresses that sit just where people would question but wont say anything or wearing tight pencil skirts really high up but wearing a sweater over top to hide the bump. Its all in the illusion
@tara4910 the Bellaband has gotten my through the last 6 weeks of bloat (13 weeks now). I purchased two maternity tshirts from Isabel and Ingrid which have been great as they are long enough to cover the Bellaband and great to layer under cardigans/blazers. I purchased a pair of “glam” leggings from Boob and man they are so comfy. They’re maternity but despite having plenty of room to grow into stay up unlike the maternity leggings from Isabel and Ingrid. I also bought two pairs of maternity jeans from Madewell (one over the belly and one under). The under the belly pair are perfect right now plus all their maternity jeans have an elastic band that you can loosen/tighten depending on how much space you need (kind of like an elastic drawstring). I figure Im just getting more wear out of my maternity stuff by buying/wearing it now especially since it will be able to grow with me. Hoping that will get me through a few months until the weather is warmer and I can mostly wear dresses!
@newmama46 I don't know what Boob is, but that name alone catches my attention. Definitely going to check them out! Also, glam leggings!? I didn't know I needed them, but the way my heart when pitter-patter, it's obvious that I do.
They’re all sustainably made but I think pretty reasonable for the quality. @lachnessmomster Glam legging is sort of like a thicker shiny material. I thought they were going to be more like a faux leather but I still love them! Probably more comfortable this way. Looked cute with a long thick sweater yesterday for work 🙂
@BusinessWife LOL same!! It’s so hard to convince myself into business casual mode when nothing fits quite right. However, I have been wearing my scrubs several days a week for the past month and before I would only wear them once or twice a month. Holding out until my NIPT results come in before I really rock the bump.
Oof, yes @tara4910 I hear you there, and I wish I had more baggy tops to choose from at least.
In a rush I accidentally threw on a cozy, stretchy striped maternity shirt from last time, and without checking myself out, I think it may have been showing more than I intended. I even had a client lightweight call me FAT!!! 😯😯😯 I was planning to wait till the 14th to openly tell my team, but I'm going to have to get more creative I think, otherwise it's not going to exactly be a surprise to ANYONE. :/
any recommendations for compression socks? I am going on a long flight to western canada and I'm a little overwhelmed by the choices. I don't care about fashion so much as I want them to be comfortable (if that's possible) and not $40.
radiohd18 yes I did. Towards the end of my 20 hour flight experience the tops of the socks were tighter against my calf, but I just assumed it was because how long I had them on for.

With my first, I wore compression stockings for the last week. I just bought basic cheap ones at Walmart. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ They worked fine. They weren't the most fun things to wear, but they weren't itchy and were as comfortable as I would expect them to be.
@ziggymama06 @tara4910 well he had brought in chocolates for all of us, so I thanked him! And I may have made a comment along the lines of it's the only thing that's keeping me going at this point lol So it was just a few little comments back and forth, and sort of an offhand comment about not having too many, could make a person fat! Uhm.... <img alt="" src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/it/b9cl9ppv78ck.gif">
@BusinessWife what an a**hole. people just don't think about others before they speak. I am sorry you had to listen to that crap. you are growing a human!
Ugh, it's official. Not only is my brother-from-another-mother getting married and having the wedding when I will be 32 weeks along... but I am being asked to stand next to him. I am honored, I love him to pieces, of course I will be there and I will cry my eyes out and I'm so very happy for them. It's a small wedding, it's going to be very casual.. but the bride is wearing Navy Blue (mostly) and has asked me not to (and I love her so I won't).
<rant begins> Can we talk about how Navy blue is like the MOST accessible color for an evening wedding though? As I've poured online starting to look at my options navy blue is every where and if it's not Navy, Blush Pink (which would be a mistake for me with my rosy completion), or black, it's COVERED IN FLORAL. No offense to the ladies who love floral, I love an occasional floral but I swear when you add the word maternity in front of dress the floral gets crazy because they are trying to distract the world from the fact that you're fat. <rant ends.>
:D :D :D @RedBaramid oh dear! Me, I do love floral, so I was thinking for myself possibly <b><i>Navy</i></b> floral, lol, or else some kind of a lovely solid coral. Do you think you could pull something like that off if it were a deeper shade? Not too light, but maybe with more summery orange undertones, or perhaps more to the mauve side?
But omg YES, I hear you. Bride in white or ivory, you in Navy, Done. Why!!??????? :s :s :s
unikittymom my last pregnancy I just sized up in regular plus size clothing. I did pass off stretchy waist black pants as work pants last time too. I had gone to Lane Bryant and Catherines and just got my next size up. I didn't buy any maternity clothes for my last pregnancy.
