My random is more of a bitchfest because I am NOT looking forward to this week. I thought work was supposed to slow down around the holidays but apparently this week did not get the memo. And I haven't done any holiday decorating or gift shopping and I just don't wanna be a responsible adult/employee/wife/mom right now!
I have a bit of a rant as well. I'm doing in home daycare and I have an 18 month old child whose mom let him drink coffee this morning before dropping him off. He co-sleeps and still nurses (no judgement there) but he wakes up in the motn and just gets everybody up around 4 am, and then comes here and is cranky by 9 because he's so tired. He is SOOOO spoiled too. He is super cute, can be super sweet, but I am judging the sh!t out of them letting him have everything he wants (like the coffee today) because he cries. Just tell him no and deal with the crying.

Responsibilities are the worst. I’m at the point where I’m just like how is the world still going on when I’m so tired?? I do not want to be an adult right now.
@modoodles wtf?! I’d be judging TF out of them too. Coffee?!
Also, I couldn’t do your job. It would be so hard not to ST him while he was with me.... if for no other reason other than you can’t put all attention on him just bc he can’t self soothe bc you have other kids who need tending to.
No judgement on the co-sleeping or nursing here either, FWIW.
@zande2016 yup. He throws a huge fit when I make him take shoes off in the morning too. Mom says, "oh we just let him keep them on!" And I'm just like, yeah, no. We don't wear shoes in the house. He'll be fine. I get that toddlers can be finicky, but they don't get to make all the decisions.
Totally judging the coffee. That's nuts. And I'm with @blaf322, @modoodles I could never do your job. I'm always in awe of our care providers and try to do things that would not make their jobs harder (like feeding coffee to an 18 month old).
My other random is that I need lunch inspiration, and fast. I actually want something healthy today, but could easily be talked out of it. What is everyone eating for lunch that sounds good and not nausea-inducing?
We messed up driving home from a movie and ended up in the Big 12 Championship traffic. A drive that usually takes 20 minutes went to an hour and a half. We were trying to eat a late lunch so my hungry pregnant self was uber hostile by the end.
**
I'd judge the coffee as well. @ 18 months? If you want to do that keep the kid with you.
@modoodles MIL was bragging about how she had her other granddaughter drinking half coffee half milk at my DD's age when she was here over Thanksgiving. She thinks it's cute. I shut that sh*t down REAL FAST. "Yeah that's not going to happen here." She acted all pissy about it too like I was being some overly mean mom.
@blaf322 you guys really did lol I ended up going way out of my way to get a salad with crispy chicken on it, which I thought would be the best of both worlds aka "healthy" but also with chicken tenders lol. It was good and then halfway through I started to have regrets. Now I'm slumped at my desk dreading the rest of the afternoon with a stomachache.
Also I love Chick-fil-a. Maybe I'll get that tomorrow lol.
I'm also a Chick-Fil-A lover. Now, I want some. It was Taco Bell for me after they cancelled a group lunch we were all supposed to go to. I had all my snacks but no entree. Forced down most of my raw carrots a little while ago. They taste funny to me this week.
FFMC: I've never had chick-fil-a. And now it's sort of a point of pride for me because people get so up in arms about it when I tell them. Similar to when people told me I'd cave and find out the sex of my first baby during the anatomy scan. Oh yeah? Watch me not cave. Related, watch me live my life without chick-fil-a.
Chick-Fil-A fries sound so good right now. Today my huge case study is due for the class I am taking--it has taken up SO much of my time these past few months. I am OVER it---and I have to do another one next semester. I am throwing this binder at the instructor and leaving class ASAP tonight.
That, on top of teaching full time, mom life, and all the nauseousness--I am over it. Is it Christmas break yet??
@stlbuckeye132 same - although it’s not really a huge thing where I am. We did just get one a few miles away, but I don’t eat meat and can’t have gluten so they don’t have a lot to offer me. It’s where my husband takes the kids when I’m not around. 😂
Feeling all the mom guilt today for the absurd amount of television I’ve been letting my toddler watch the last couple of days. I can’t help it, my energy levels are total garbage. And he’s got a little cold on top of it. Grateful for the symptoms but this first trimester is already the longest ever 😴
@kristinl492 my younger toddler was being so clingy when I got home and wouldn’t let me put him down to make dinner, I basically ran to the tv remote and turned Sesame Street on so fast just to distract him. He’s still watching it an hour later. Shrug. At least it’s educational?
I guess this is an unpopular opinion and I might get flamed but....I don’t like Chick-fil-A and do not understand what the craze is all about. The fries are meh and the chicken is nothing special and aren’t the owners homophobic or something? Meh.
@zande2016 I ❤❤❤ chick-fil-a so much. But the closest one is an hour and a half away 😭 and yes, the owners are super obnoxiously conservative, which I hate, but I still eat it every chance I get.
@zande2016, yes, they are homophobic and give money to various organizations that support anti-gay causes, including some that do things like conversion therapy. They are evil, and I generally don't respect people that choose to eat there, because they're valuing (relatively crappy) chicken over human rights. Don't go to Hobby Lobby for the same reason. Give your money to people who support equality, not oppression, because every chicken sandwich that gets bought at Chik-fil-a is that much more money towards evil.
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

Oh yes, we watched so much Sesame Street today. They have some Elmo Christmas specials on Prime Video and we watched 2 back to back. Educational and seasonally appropriate? Lol
I generally respect all people because I realize that having different opinions doesn't make someone unworthy of respect. It takes all types of people for the world to go round (coming from a vegetarian who doesn’t eat chick-fil-a). 🤷🏻♀️
As much as I hate the politics behind CFA, they are the only fast food joint that offers a decent gluten free on the go option. I have had Celiac for 15 years and have been unable to eat any fast food other than Wendy’s chili until CFA debuted their GF bun and fries. I make donations to charities of my choosing that support the ideals I believe in to counteract the sandwiches I buy!
@kc0711 I think I’ve complained like 5 times on here about having celiacs, since I just found out in June and this is my first pregnancy (knowingly) having it. So just saying hi since I hardly know anyone else with celiacs! 👋
I have mixed feelings personally about supporting a company when I don’t agree with their agenda. If it’s just political difference then whatever. If it’s something like hate and conversion therapy, I do have a problem with it. BUT that being said, it’s a huge corporation right? I feel like there’s not really a ton of nexus between a sandwich I buy and the asshole at the top who supports horrible causes. That being said I still likely won’t support it on principal but don’t judge those who do.
Here's a random. My husband is travelling for work this week and I've mentioned on other threads how he's been so helpful around the house while I've been tired and/or not feeling well, so now I'm looking at the next few days like 😳. And I don't even have kids, just a small legion of pets and a complicated commute.
Anyway, shout to all the STM+s out here navigating the joys of first tri and having to keep it all together for existing kids. You are amazing.
Waiting for my first ultrasound after the requisite 32 oz they say to drink, thoughts and prayers that I don’t pee beforehand or while they press on me appreciated because right now I feel like I’m going to die 😂 😳
@kboydbowman you're being super extra about that and, frankly, projecting the same type of hate they are.... because someone is doing something differently than you would. You should probably cool your jets and take a page from @beckylookatherbump 's book because it's not a good look on anyone.
I'm aware of the owners and their anti-gay agenda and for a long time I didn't eat there and that was one of the reasons. I don't respect them or their views but I also like their chicken and their excellent customer service. I'm not going to judge anyone for getting their food there. I totally own that knowing their terrible views and choosing to eat there may be hypocritical, but that's my choice and I feel good about my overall life choices and working to support worthwhile causes. And for anyone following along, they stopped donating to anti-gay groups last month:
I'll say this and bow out of the Chick-Fil-A commentary. I'm a member of the group they sometimes support hateful organizations. My Mom randomly also knows the founder of the company. They are not all bad.
I grew up in a harshly conservative community and if I excluded contact from all who supported those viewpoints I'd have stopped talking to grandparents, my in-laws and for almost a decade my Dad. I've evolved in my life as a lesbian where I can accept lots of viewpoints and don't feel personally attacked. I have an amazing family and am well employed and have lots of rights I did not have 10 years ago. I've now been out for 21 years.
It's a very personal choice how you do or don't support companies. I respect all choices.
My friends in the LGBTQ community don't all love that I still eat there. But for me the great thing about freedom it's choice. I like the sandwiches and I've never had an allergic reaction after eating there. I have two severe food allergies that make that fairly hard to find.
I also love the respectful conversation about the chick-fil-a and am glad to see that we can have these discussions. I personally don't enjoy being judged by where I eat my chicken nuggets and am glad to see others agree.
Side note: I freaking love Chick Fil A becuase of the chick-fil-a sauce, which was invented in my town. The guy who owns the local franchises concocted it and would have it in giant vats in the restaurants before he sold his recipe to the corporate people. I know people who would sneak a mason jar in there and fill up to take home. haha

edit: words
@modoodles I’m late to the party but I’m totally judging the coffee thing as well! Seriously! Toddlers already have so much energy... no thanks!
