Re: UO Thursday 11/7

  • I feel like I'm going to have to dig deep for this one, because...my UO's lately aren't really that unpopular...

    It's not Christmas until....

  • Mine is that all of the Christmas stuff needs to stay packed away until December 1st. I hate hearing radio stations switch over to holiday music when I'm not yet done celebrating Thanksgiving with people.
  • ^^same I wait for advent to begin to decorate slowly haha
  • @c1kc1kpol1cn1k I love having an advent calendar to open. One of my favorite traditions
  • @persnickity one of my radio stations switched to playing nothing but Christmas music already. I couldn’t believe it. Usually it doesn’t happen until after thanksgiving.
  • @kbrown2385 I would boycott that station until December.
  • @persnickity I took it off my presets 😆
  • ok confession here, since I woke up to snow this morning I most definitely put on some christmas music driving DD to school ahhahaha  :D

Yeah, I'm THAT person. My stuff is up as soon as Halloween is over. I started it when I was going through a really hard time about 8 years ago and I need a pick me up, and Thanksgiving was late that year and I just decided I didn't need anyone's approval. I've been doing it ever since. I've been ragged about it for years but shut my family up by simply saying, it makes me happy and it doesn't hurt anyone.

They couldn't argue my logic. It just makes me happy to see my lights on.

Edit - My SO admitted it helps I'm subtle about it. I don't go crazy. My house doesn't vomit Christmas or anything. 🤮🎄
  • @persnickity - What's your favorite avent calendar? I want to do one this year!
  • im a wait til 1st december too. Its way too early yet!
  • Agreed! October is Halloween month, November is Turkey and pumpkin month and Christmas month doesn't start until December 1st. That being said, I usually decorate the weekend of Thanksgiving/Black Friday, but that's just because I've always worked the Monday after and wouldn't have time otherwise.
  • @marebear15 I usually get a cheap little kids one from like Meijer or another grocery store. They're like $3-5 and it's more about the fun of a daily treat. I got the Starbucks ones for two years... Way too expensive. Aldi has a wine one for when we're all not pregnant.

This year, I'm getting DD her own. She didn't like sharing the treat.
  • My UO is that we don't decorate.  Although with dd being so aware of everything around us that we may have to this year.  It's not even that we don't have decorations, it just seems so time consuming to take them out only to have to put them away.
  • @ponyoisfun, kids are definitely part of why I do it.
