  • @bows22 I believe there is a motility % that should have been looked at too, but I could be wrong?  I thought we got numbers on DH for how many, the motility and the morph. 45.32 million is a great number!!

@bows22 Our SA results we got count, motility %, and morphology %. The count can be total count or concentration (#/mL). The total motile count is used by some clinics and is just a different way of reporting (it takes into account the volume, concentration, and motility). That number looks really good!

  • Thanks guys! So are you saying since the motile sperm number is good, the 1% morph isn’t as big of a deal? I’m not overly concerned about it but was thinking that could be a factor. However I only know enough to be dangerous
    keikilovebrookert615
  • @bows22 I don't want to scare you, as your situation could be different and you should talk to your RE directly. Our issue is low morphology and we were directed straight to IVF w/ICSI. We were initially at 3% and are now at 2%. IUI is not a worth while option for low morph unfortunately, as the sperm still can't do the work needed to be done to get through to implant.

  • @nitnat007 I still have my SHG next week and 2 sets of bloodwork and then we have a follow up appointment on the 26th to discuss all results. Do they have an idea of why YH’s morph % is decreasing?

@inthewoods23 thank you! That is really helpful too.
    brookert615
  • @bows22 my RE had similar thoughts to @inthewoods23.  We have low morph but no motility issues so she also considered IUI an okay option if we wanted to try it first.

to chime in on the decrease question, for us it as likely a medication he takes but she did suggest lifestyle changes and supplements so he’s hopeful there will be improvement next time things get checked

  • @bows22 my H also has low morph (3%) but his motile count is great, so we were suggested to do IUI first. Was YH abstinent for more than 5 days before the SA? I have heard that can affect morph too.

  • @meri-mac thinking of you!!

@ellieemc26 if his medication has anything to do with UC or blood pressure I’d love to know what it is if you don’t mind. The PA we saw at the RE office did raise her eyebrows when she saw DH’s meds. She said it was because she wasn’t familiar with them but I’ve been curious

@pom9207 he didn’t, they told us at least 3 but no more than 5. His SA was on a Tuesday morning so we used Friday night as the cutoff. So like 3.5 days.

  • @bows22 my DH takes a med to treat a type of rheumatoid arthritis.  We were both surprised to find out but apparently it’s a Known side effect, our RE brought it up before we even did the SA. Have you looked up the meds?  When I googled his all kinds of studies showed up about it
    bows22
  • @bows22 I haven't decided yet. The nurse who did the IUI didn't say to, but I might order some cheapie tests online and do it. My betas aren't until the 25th, so I will probably test at home on the 22nd, just so I am not blindsided and crying at work if I get a negative result.

  • @ellieemc26 that’s interesting because some UC meds also treat RA but I don’t think DH’s is one of them. There are studies for that but I am not a scholarly person so I struggle. His doc said it was fine but it’s a fairly new med so I was just curious. The BP meds I’ll have to look up. I really didn’t think of that because I’m generally anti google (but asking internet friends is fine obviously haha)

@emeraldduchess I would be the same, no one wants that news at work. Even if (when!) it’s good news, how are you supposed to go back to working after that??

  • @bows22 that happened in September. I was pretty sure I wasn't KU, but it still sucked to find out via the online portal during the day. I was on recess duty that afternoon and definitely was tearing up behind my sunglasses.

  • My first time posting on this board! Been stalking for a bit, but was still processing everything that has happened in the past 8 months, so I wasn't quite ready to dive in and participate yet. Sometimes it can be overwhelming. 2nd month of trying since the doctor gave us the all clear to TTC after having excision done in September.

Diagnosis (if you've been): Stage 3 endo, multiple uterine polyps, and multiple endometriomas on both ovaries. My surgeon was fantastic, and was able to get everything completely cleaned out without causing any damage to my ovaries! Pretty amazing considering one of my endometriomas was 5.5cm

    Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): opk, cm, cp, progesterone supplements. If we don't get a bfp by January, doc says it's time to consider other options.

How are things going?:  Hopeful? Trying not to allow myself to stress too much.

Any questions?: none that I can think of!

GTKY: What part of your wardrobe do you spend the most on? It's probably pretty even. I'm not very extravagant. Lol
