Re: Weekly Check-in Groups 3&4 (Jan 17-31) w/o 10/28

  • EDD/Weeks + days: Jan 18th / 28+2

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink

Baby is the size of a(n): eggplant

Upcoming appointments: Nov 5th (29 week)

How are you feeling? Still riding that 2nd tri energy! I was able to organize a lot of DD's clothes into boxes and put them in the nursery closet. I can't wait until after my shower so I can finish everything up and have it ready.

Raves/Rants: DD has recently been getting on to us if we don't pray before a meal. It's a custom of ours, but she will call us out on it if I forget. Anyways, I always ask her what she's thankful for and tack that on to the meal time prayer. Usually she answers with Mommy or Daddy, but lately she's been naming everyone that's around the table, and always ends with "baby sister." She also smacked my sister's hand for rubbing my belly and told her that it's "her baby." Can't wait to see how she is with the actual baby 😍
Update on the master suite addition: We have lights now! DH and FIL installed all the lights in the bedroom, walk-in closet, and bathroom, as well as the (very quiet!) bathroom fan. Super excited for each new step!

    Questions: not today

GTKY: Tell us/show us your Halloween costume! I'm not going to dress up this year, but DD is going as Minnie Mouse (the pink one from the Clubhouse).

  • @marebear15 So exciting for more work being done on the addition! Do you think it will be done in time for baby’s arrival? That is too cute about it being “her baby”

    EDD/Weeks + days: 1/22 27+5

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: purple

Baby is the size of a(n): a bottle of sriracha

Upcoming appointments: blood flow check Tuesday, first NST on Friday

How are you feeling? Uncomfortable. I just want to be able to move normally again. My shortness of breath and wheezing are gone thanks to my iron increase, no thanks to my ob 😏.

Raves/Rants: I really wish the 4 year old attitude would go away already. I’m so tired of ds fighting over literally everything. We spent almost two hours Saturday and Sunday night with him arguing and throwing fits over going to bed. I’m at the point of just letting him go until he’s done and ready. I’m just so over it, it’s exhausting.

I finally ordered the swaddles and car seat covers I wanted. I can’t wait until they are here!

    Questions: nope

GTKY: Tell us/show us your Halloween costume! I’m not dressing up this year. I found out ds couldn’t wear a ghost costume to his school party so I decided to throw in the towel on making those costumes and just got him a Woody costume. I might make myself a forky shirt, but let’s be honest, I have zero motivation.
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 27w1d

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: blue

Baby is the size of a(n): Deflated basketball

Upcoming appointments: 11/5 - regular OB, 11/6 Growth scan

How are you feeling? Tired and uncomfortable, but overall OK. I hurt my shoulder in a car accident in 2011 and the pressure from pregnancy is aggravating it. Since I can't take Advil, I've had to give up most of my favorite hobbies. It hurts to read a book, or kindle, game on console or PC. Mostly, I'm great tho!

Raves/Rants:  SO and I decided rather than stay here, we're going to look for a house to rent for a year until we're ready to buy. Now... To agree on one.

    Questions: nope.

GTKY: Tell us/show us your Halloween costume! I don't do Halloween. I can't stant trick or treating or trick or treaters.
  • marebear15 That is so cute! And congrats on the addition.
kbrown2385 He can't be a ghost? What's wrong with that?

    EDD/Weeks + days: 1/17, 28ish weeks

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink

Baby is the size of a(n): Pie Pumpkin

Upcoming appointments: Group classes at my birth center every 2 weeks.

How are you feeling? Overall good. Got my glucose screen back and I'm clear, no gestational diabetes which is a relief since baby is in the top 90%, size-wise :)

Raves/Rants: We moved into our first home a couple of weeks ago. The move/transition into a new place was a lot harder than I anticipated due to my decreased energy. My husband has done so much of the unpacking on his own, he is the best! This weekend my parents came over to help us paint the nursery furniture and a few accent walls and I'm so happy with all of it. Slowly but surely feeling more settled here.

Questions: Birth Plans: Who's doing one, what's important to you on it, are they worth it?

GTKY: Tell us/show us your Halloween costume! I'm going as a Scarecrow with a big jack-o-lantern over my bump, and my husband is going as "The Crow." His work goes all out and has a costume contest and everything. I doubt we'll win, but it will be fun to dress up since we didn't go to any parties this year.
  • @schreibaby they don’t want masks/face paint or anything over the head. I’m assuming the think of the sheet over the face type ghost when they say no ghosts. It’s alright though, less work for me and ds is obsessed with Woody lol. Exciting the move is done! I remember moving when I was pregnant with ds and that was exhausting.

@FyreFlyeRush good luck finding a rental! It’s so hard to find exactly what you want.
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 27w4d- trying to get these girls to stay in the belly until after christmas

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: double pink

Baby is the size of a(n): three hole punch

Upcoming appointments: 11/1 regular OB, 11/5 with MFM

How are you feeling? Mostly good! I'm starting to waddle and generally feel uncomfortable, but I got a prenatal massage this weekend that was glorious

Raves/Rants: I'm starting to get nervous about baby kicks. I feel like I'm already a horrible twin mom because I can't tell if it's 1 baby kicking, or both. I haven't figured out where they are positioned yet and I feel anxiety over it and like I'm already a bad mom. It's just insecurities I think, but as soon as I feel like I figure it out, I feel a kick in a random place. It's kind of frustrating to be honest. I know during 3rd trimester we should start counting kicks, but maybe I'll ask my OB on Friday what she recommends with twins- like maybe "make sure you feel movement throughout the day"

Questions: for STM- how many bottles (per baby) did you start out with!?

GTKY: Tell us/show us your Halloween costume!- I'm not dressing up- not a huge fan of Halloween, but an aunt got me a shirt that says "Kick or Treat" on it so I'll probably just wear that while walking around with my nieces
  • @kbrown2385, we've each found out exactly what we want...his is in a "gentrified" neighborhood downtown. Mine is in a more modest one about 5 miles outside the city. His has a spiral stair case...Ok, he got me there. Mine has gas appliances...I got him there. I have stars...he has old school charm. They are the EXACT same cost. I want to tour both. If all but one of the bedrooms is downstairs in his, I'll condider it.

@schreibaby, I have simple birthplan. My important factors are being able to walk around to ease contraction pain, and not being offered pain meds unless they believe it will speed up the process or lower my blood pressure. My hospital already does delayed cord clamping, and the policy is baby to breast for breastfeeding mothers. They baby won't be taken for exam or anything else UNTIL we've had 2 - 4 hours in recovery together to "facilitate the bonding of parents/siblings and baby"
  • @marebear15 when are you having your shower? I am so impatient to do mine so I can start shopping and getting everything ready! @kbrown2385 yay for starting to order things! I really need to get started @FyreFlyeRush good luck w house hunting...if only it was as fun as it looks on TV hahaha @schreibaby I usually make a very loose birth plan but I am pretty flexible with it. This time I am wanting to not get an epidural so that is my biggest thing! I had hoped not to last time then it just didn't go according to plan and I wasn't really prepared. This time I know a little more what to expect so I think I am going to try harder to avoid the epidural. @amb0924 I think how many bottles depends on your individual situation. I breastfed and DH worked nights and stayed home with DS during the day. We had a ton of bottles for him but only used maybe 2 or 3. EDD/Weeks + days: 1/23 26+4 Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Team Pink Baby is the size of a(n): butternut squash? Upcoming appointments: 11/11 How are you feeling? Pretty good, moving a little slower and insomnia is kicking my butt, but overall not too bad. Raves/Rants: We had such a good weekend taking DS to the pumpkin patch then going to my Uncle's house to carve pumpkins. My cousin helped DS with his pumpkin which was super nice as well. I think I spent half the day bickering with DH over stupid stuff via text, but other than that it was a good weekend. Also, DS sat on his potty chair last night for the first time and I am so excited. Previous to this the mere suggestion of sitting on it led to him screaming bloody murder. That said he did throw an hour long screaming temper tantrum yesterday because I wouldn't let him go play in the sprinkler...because it was 45 degrees out Questions: Anyone take Unisom or something else for pregnancy insomnia? I am going to check with my doctor to get her thoughts at my next appointment as well GTKY: Tell us/show us your Halloween costume! DS and I are going to be scarecrows....if I can get my act together and actually put our costumes together hahaha
  • @FyreFlyeRush touring is my favorite part. Hopefully one turns out to be better and easily agreed on for both of you!

@amb0924 i formula fed ds and only had 2 4oz and 3 8oz bottles. I tend to lean more minimal when it comes to that kind of stuff and i hate clutter so only having a few was ideal for me.

@schreibaby I didn’t necessarily have a birth plan but skin to skin was a must for us. I had a csection with ds so I wanted immediate skin to skin in the or with me and then when he went to the nursery while I was being finished up, we made sure Dh did skin to skin with him there. I’m hoping for the same situation this time around with both babies as well. I also don’t want baths for the first 24 hours, delayed cord clamping and if we do a csection again, I’d like for them to drop the cloth so I can see them being born.
  • @amb024 i mentioned the movement to my consultant at my last appointment a couple of weeks ago as i was concerned that i felt all my movement on one side. That has since changed, along with the positioning of the babies. Her response was as long as the amount of movement is regular & what is normal for you on a daily basis, you shouldnt be overly concerned with where it is as it could just be positioning of babies & placentas.
  • @kbrown2385 - So glad the iron supplement has helped your symptoms! Sorry about DS being a pain. Do you think it's baby related or just a 4 year old phase?

@schreibaby - I love your "baby size." I'm dying for some pumpkin pie! Do you have to do any additional ultrasounds because of baby being in the 90%?
I'm going over my birth plan with my doctor, and some specifics with my husband, but not a printed out sheet or anything. Most of the time I found the nurses asked me about everything anyways.

@amb0924 - This little gal moves around so much that I think I've figured out her position and she'll do a somersault and change. As for baby bottles, I was mainly BFing, and we just started out with 5 I think? One was a NB natural nipple, and the other four were anti-colic NB nipples. The bottles were wide mouthed to fit my pump.

@MrsJessS - My shower is the weekend before Thanksgiving. It's pretty lowkey, and I didn't invite many people besides family, so I'm not expecting a ton of gifts, but would like to know what I have left to buy. You aren't doing a nursery this time around right?
I think I've told you this before, but I'm still taking a half dose of Unisom at night for both insomnia and nausea. I stopped it around 21ish weeks and the nausea came back, so if it helps my sleep while I'm at it, I thought why not!

  • @marebear15 I’m sure it’s a 4 year old phase. He wants to assert his control so that means disagreeing with pretty much everything we say. Like he argues over having a pb&j for lunch even though that’s exactly what he wants to eat.
  • @amb0924 while I'm not having twins, you aren't a bad mom for not being able to tell the difference between the two. Heck IDK if I could do that if I had twins. Worrying about one is tough enough. You got this though.

@kbrown2385 that's dumb but I'm glad you have an alternative and it makes life easier on you!

@marebear15 that's exciting about the master suite!! I also can't wait until after the shower to finish up nesting in the nursery.

@schreibaby moving is super hard not pregnant so if you are doing anything at all that's a huge accomplishment <3

  • @kbrown2385 ugh, arguing with kids can be so exhausting!  Sometimes exactly what my kids need is for me to say "I'm walking in the other room and you can let me know when you're ready to cooperate" so I'm all for letting them calm down and trying again once they're reasonable for non-urgent things.

@schreibaby there was a birth plan thread a few weeks back that you might find helpful (no clue if this link will actually work): https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12747587/birth-plan-thread#latest  I and a few other people posted copies of our birth plans, someone else posted some helpful links, and there was some good discussion about the pluses/minuses of having them.

@amb0924 I only have one in my uterus and I still have no idea how baby is positioned most of the time!  I feel "kicks" both high and low on my belly so I assume it's either arms & legs or baby is moving his/her legs around?  I bet it's even more confusing with you having 2 in there!

For bottle numbers, I breastfed and pumped when I returned to work, so only started using bottles when I started back at work.  Even though LO was only getting 2-3 bottles while I was gone, we found it helpful to have a bunch around.  So I think we started with 3 (Medela, same brand as my pump) and then moved up to 6 or 9 bottles since we weren't great about cleaning them every day or they'd get misplaced/left in the car, etc.  Some folks recommend waiting until you see what bottles your babies like before you buy a bunch, since they might prefer one brand over another or have issues with gas, etc.  I never ran into issues with this, though, my babies just used the bottles that were compatible with my pump.

    @stashattack enjoy your baby shower!
  • @peppyj9, I'm technically squatting in my late grandparents' house. I was originally going to buy it for taxes, but my uncle refuses to remunate the title unless he gets a SoCal price for a SoTex house. sooooo...yeah
  • @marebear15 that’s way better timing. My mom wants to do mine in January and I’m just like nooo thank you. But I’m asking for baby stuff for Christmas too so 🤷🏻‍♀️  I’m not doing a nursery but I’m planning to get a bassinet. And a bathtub. And an overwhelming amount of stuff that I already had for DS but wouldn’t fit in my car 😭
Also yes! I thought you had said something about the Unisom. I’m considering just taking it and asking the dr later lol

  • @FyreFlyeRush oooh, I see. Your uncle sounds super greedy. 😕
  • @peppyj9 - I didn't buy a monitor for DD, and there were times I regretted it. Mostly during naps when I wanted to go outside and work on the yard, but I had to go inside to listen for her every few minutes. This time I'm just getting the basic sound monitor (two actually, for each kid).

@MrsJessS - January??? Yeah, she's crazy. I mean, I know you went 4 (?) days over last time, but no guarantee you won't go early this time. I didn't think I needed much for this baby, especially since it's another girl, but then I started adding things to a registry and was like, holy crap I still need a lot.
About the Unisom, I'm pretty sure it's Category A or B, so it's safe to take all pregnancy long. I took it all 9 months with DD too, and it really helped when the nausea came back during 3rd tri.

@cats_in_a_window - That's great that you have one friend already lined up to be on call! I have two sisters and a MIL lined up. My MIL wants to be in the hospital waiting room, so she's my 3rd in line. The first sister is the one that usually babysits DD and knows her whole routine.
  • @peppyj9 I registered for one (and got it) because our townhome, while isn't huge, still has multiple levels. And while I will probably be able to hear her most anywhere, I would rather have the peace of mind of having the monitor on me if I'm on the first floor and she's napping up stairs. But I've seen it as a "not a must have" on a lot of people's lists, especially if they live in an apartment or a ranch style home.

And same with @marebear15. I want to be able to go outside without needing to take her out with me and having to go back in to check in on her. Especially since we only have one window facing our backyard and that's in the guest bedroom, not the nursery.

  • @marebear15 That's so cute about your DD!  My oldest is so protective of her younger sister.  She absolutely loves her and it just melts my heart.
@kbrown2385 Good luck on Friday!  I had a NST last Friday and should of had something with caffeine in it!
@FyreFlyeRush Sorry about your shoulder.  Do you think maybe iceyhot or a heating pad could help it?
@schreibaby Personally, I try not to focus on a birth plan.  They have free templates online that you can google that are a good starting point.  I know going into the hospital I tell them upfront that my main goals are to be up as much as possible (sitting in bed is not my thing).  I stress that a lot so they know to find a portable monitor or they know i'll be non-monitored for a bit.  Also know if your interested in pain meds or not.
@amb0924 Glad you could enjoy that massage!
@MrsJessS Other than knowing the right dosage I don't think there's anything wrong with taking Unisom to get some sleep!  Obviously your doctor will know best.
@stashattack Enjoy your shower this weekend!
@peppyj9 Baby will be in our room for a bit and I'll add an extra camera to our monitor.  I'll use it for naps (I have two other kids to take care of so I wont be around) and for when baby goes to bed early and I'm not ready to sleep even though I should go to bed early lol.
@cats_in_a_window You could have a on call day and night person.  Make sure the night person knows its specifically for evening/night.  Maybe find someone that you're comfortable with that can come to your house? Both of our families live 1-2 hours away.  We don't know too many people that would be available so I'm prepped to labor/deliver by myself if my husband needs to be with the kids until someone can arrive.  Plus living in Michigan during the winter could mean snow storms and we won't risk anyone driving that far either.

    EDD/Weeks + days:  Jan 24th, 27+3

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green:  Green

Baby is the size of a(n): Head of Cauliflower

Upcoming appointments:  Tomorrow to talk about my blood pressure and lab/urine results.

How are you feeling?   I feel ok.  I have a little anxiety about the current situation.  My labs came back good and I just got my 24 hour urine collection protein results but unsure of what those really mean.  I suppose I'll get the drill down tomorrow at the doctor on what the game plan is.  I'm assuming it's just gestational hypertension right now without any signs of PreE.

Raves/Rants:  I'm tired of peeing.  I drink a little water and I'm in the bathroom every 30 minutes.

    Questions:  Nope

GTKY: Tell us/show us your Halloween costume!  I don't have one.  I don't get into dressing up but I love buying my kids their costumes.  My 4.5 year old is going as Belle and my 19 month old is a fluffy unicorn.
  • edited October 2019
@mispanda yeah, I'm not really sure what I'm going to do if I go into labor at night.  Hope someone answers the phone and wake the kids up to bring them might be easiest, I guess.  We do have neighbors who might be able to come over in a pinch, but I'd really prefer one of my kid's friend's parents.  We've also talked about just bringing the kids to the hospital and figuring it out from there, if needed.  Mostly, I just want to make sure I'm not having a side-of-the-road baby.

I'm glad your bloodwork came back mostly normal!  Back when I was doing 24 hour urines with DS, a protein reading of 300 mg or higher was needed to diagnose preeclampsia.  A reading between 150 and 300 (in combination with elevated BP) was concerning for it developing, but not yet positive for it.  Obviously, the closer the number was to 300, the more worrisome a borderline reading was.
  • @peppyj9 we used a monitor for when dd was still in our room but napping when I needed to get stuff done & if she went to bed before we were ready to go. We still use her monitor in her room now for peace of mind. I would definitely get one, its better to have it and not use it til later than need it and not have it.
  • @cats_in_a_window my number one fear is a car baby!  The hospital I'm delivery at is 30/35 minutes away without traffic on a good day.  Add in snow and it could be twice as long!  I suppose I'll be going in at any tiny sign lol.  Also, my urine came back at 159.  I'm assuming with that I'll be getting labs and mostly likely repeating the test down the road.  I'm on baby aspirin now in hopes that will help.

  • @marebear15 5 over 😭 but yeah. Luckily we are backing it up to some time in December because one of the few friends I have here will be out of state for her coronation as Miss Rodeo (insert state here) I also thought I didn’t need much then I started to actually make a list and panicked a little haha
  • @peppyj9 I used a monitor when ds was young during naptime.

@MrsJessS glad you had a nice weekend! We haven’t carved pumpkins yet and I’m absolutely making Dh help ds. I love the thought of doing it but actually carving gets old fast for me lol.
  • @marebear15 congrats on all the progress on the addition. That is so exciting. We merely painted a wall this weekend felt accomplished! Also DD is so cute!

@kbrown2385 glad you are feeling better with the extra iron. I've been feeling shortness of breath too so I'm wondering if my iron is a bit low too. I am an experienced anemic so I had my OB check all the things at my next test next week.

@FyreFlyeRush bummer about the shoulder and not being able to do the normal fun activities. Maybe a massage will put you back in balance and keep the pain under control? That's my hope for myself anyways!

@schreibaby I can't imagine moving anywhere right now! That sounds so stressful and tiring. When I was in L&D last week getting checked out, the nurse asked me so many questions about what I want and don't want so I don't think you have to come in with a document but it is good to think it over before you get there so you can answer all the questions.

@amb0924 I freak out about 1, I can't imagine having two or discerning them! I also love people here. I can't imagine going through pregnancy without all of you!

@MrsJessS January for your baby shower! I can't even!!! Mine is the end of November and it feels late. But then again I have a friend who is 36 weeks right now and just had her last baby shower so I guess people do them. It would make me nervous I would miss it. I'm already nervous I'm going to miss mine but for complicated reasons. Glad you were able to convince them sometime in December!

@peppyj9 90% holy moly! Is that a normal part of the sonogram or specific for the echo? No one has told me what percentile my baby is in...

@FyreFlyeRush yay for finding a couple of places and avoiding the family drama in the process!

@mispanda I was reading about pre-E. The urine tests and liver enzyme tests and stuff in conjunction with the blood pressure help determine if you have pre-E or not. Hoping it all stays okay but you should look at the symptoms and if you feel any of them go in right away!

@stashattack yay for girl friends! I know the feeling. I have lived in my place for about a year and know most people through work but it's hard to navigate out of the work into the friend area. I mean I like hanging with them at work but you need people to be with outside of that. Same goes if all your friends are in different life stages. I had a friend who doesn't have kids tell me how I was overreacting at stuff and I just about lost it. Love her but she has no idea what being preggo is like.

@catsinawindow As a FTM I hadn't even considered what you would do with a kid during labor. Sometimes you don't have a lot of warning. I'm glad you were able to find someone to take the kiddo!

    EDD/Weeks + days: Jan 25/ 27 + 3

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green!

Baby is the size of a(n): Head of lettuce? These things continue to be baffling to me!

Upcoming appointments: Ultrasound for VP tomorrow. OB on Nov 4th with 28 week GTT and bloodwork

How are you feeling? Physically, I hurt all over today. I tried to make a massage appointment but the person I contacted won't be around for 2 more weeks!!!

Emotionally, also a wreck. I cried for part of the day on Saturday just worried. I'm worried that the docs will misdiagnose me and say everything is fine even if it isn't.

TW for worst case scenario mongering:
Not because they mean to but because it is hard to tell and they are inexperienced in VP. I worry that I have to do their job and if I don't do it well then my baby could die. It's just a lot to handle. I'm sure after tomorrow I will feel better. My friends don't understand why I am expecting the worst, but I don't think they understand that if the docs are wrong and I try a vaginal birth then it is a 50-50 shot of my baby living. It's so hard to think that I've come this far and have to confront the possibility I won't come home with a baby. It's bad to think that I want my baby to have something else like be breech so I qualify for a C section anyways but I don't feel like I can request an elective C section just because I am scared. Will know more tomorrow. Thanks for listening!

Raves/Rants: Today was a monday that really felt like a Monday. Feel tired and out of sorts. Half way through Fall term and wondering how I will make it to the end! Raves are that really I have been so well supported by my colleagues that it could be a lot worse!

Questions: I had one and can't remember it. Welcome to my Monday!

GTKY: Tell us/show us your Halloween costume! Going as a pumpkin. Okay well really I just have a pumpkin T shirt and some black and orange leggings. I think my students will appreciate it...especially since I am bringing all 200 of them candy hah!

  • @biolprof I’ve got all the things crossed for you for tomorrow. I hope you come out of that appt with a clear idea of what’s going on.
  • @biolprof I hope everything goes well for you today! We’ll all be thinking of you!
& you absolutely can request an elective section for whatever your reason may be! Im requesting one based on mostly fear of how my last birth went. At my last appointment, my consultant asked how far gone would I have to be to consider a vaginal delivery & my response was “if theres physically a baby hanging out of me then pull it on out, otherwise you cut me open!”. Speak to your delivery team, explain your fears & if an elective is what you want, then vocalise it & advocate for yourself! Xxx

@biolprof I dunno if it's part of the echocardiogram, she just did it after checking the fluid. I'm sure you could ask at your appointment if they can check his weight/size while they're looking at everything else. Keep in mind though, it IS an estimate and from what I've read recently, some babies get a growth spurt and then slow down in the end. I read several women whose babies were measuring big, told they'd have a big baby and then had a 6-7lber at birth. So, I'm taking it with a grain of salt. I'm expecting a bigger baby but not counting on it if that makes sense. Anyway, good luck at your appointment today!! I'm crossing everything you get great news and I know we're all thinking of you today ❤ also, I 2nd what @leprechaunlady said. Advocate for yourself! If you really want an elective c-section then let your doctors know! They can at least weigh the pros and cons with you so you can make an informed decision. If in the end your gut tells you to get a c-section then you need to vocalize that loud and clear. I can't imagine them denying you unless it would cause greater harm. Afterall, even though they "know best" it's still a business and you are a paying customer. Don't forget that. You have every right to request specific treatment that does not go against their oath to not cause harm.
  • @biolprof, You absolutely CAN request an elective C-Section. Worst case, your insurance won't cover it (though, in your situation, I doubt that will be the case). If it's anything like mine, you'll be paying out of pocket for delivery ANYWAY, or close to (I have a 2K deductible and delivery is 2100 and some change). Advocate for yourself. If you feel that vaginal delivery isn't right for you given these circumstances, then PUSH for the C-section. Keep us posted. We'll be thinking of you.
  • @peppyj9 I'm not too worried about size except DH was big lol so was hoping more my size (7.5 lbs lol). So I'm curious who this kid will take after.

I will talk to my OB about all my options. Thanks for talking it through. Luckily or unluckily for me I have had a lot of medical this year and decent coverage so vaginal vs. C section won't really be any different for me financially as I would hit my out of pocket either way.... I appreciate everyone's thoughts. Feeling better today actually despite the 3 insomnia hah!
  • @biolprof thinking of you today! I hope you get some answers and have a conversation with your doctors that leaves you feeling comfortable and prepared <3
  • @mispanda I'm closer to the hospital (15 min without traffic) and my midwife has suggested that I head to the hospital once I'm fairly sure that I'm in labor, even if I'm not certain.  DD (my second) made her arrival maybe 1.5 hours after things got intense, but I did have a few hours of lead-up where I thought I might be in labor, but wasn't 100% sure.  They're worried things might go even quicker since this will be my third (or if my water breaks at home things could go really fast).  Was your last delivery relatively quick too?  If so, you might want to chat with your care provider about the game plan once you think you're in labor.

Good luck with your BP appointment this week!  159 is really only a smidge above the "normal" range (mine was in the 250's when I was pre-preeclamptic) so it might not be anything to worry about.  I'm sure your care provider will have a solid plan about how to appropriately monitor you, though.  Fingers crossed that the aspirin does a good job of keeping the PreE at bay.  I've been on it since ~13 weeks due to my history.

@biolprof thinking of you today!  Agree with all the other posters that if you still feel most comfortable with a c-section after this appointment then that's what you should advocate for.
  • @biolprof thinking about you today. And tell that friend to shut the eff up. Or send me at her and I'll tell her LOL!! Only pregnant people get to tell spouses to chill. (Anyone's spouse like mine who freaks out at like nonsense stuff? Like She's super active today.... OMG IS SOMETHING WRONG!?!?!?! No... chill I had caffeine and she's stealing it from me. She's fine. Mommy's the one who's now tired because of the caffeine stealing parasite. Worry about me LOL).

And the stupid thing is I fit right in with all the dudes. Like the actually like me even though I know zilch about football and probably ask really stupid questions during the games. But they put up with me, and enjoy my humor and treat me like one of them. It's the women who are baffling me right now LOL.

@mispanda I feel you on the getting to the hospital worry. We chose our hospital because it's legit one of the best in our area AND the children's hospital is legit next store in case anything goes wrong with her. (I mean CHOP is like #3 in the nation, they can handle almost anything thrown at them kids wise). It's about 20-40minutes away from work depending on traffic in the city (5mi people. UGH). Or an 1hr on a good day coming from home. I'm praying to go into labor at work so I can just hop on over and not worry about getting down there. Luckily my OB said, if you feel anything feel free to come down and get checked, and if you are here way early, that's fine, just remind us that you aren't the closest to the hospital and we won't send you home.

@cats_in_a_window After today's appointment I'm pretty much been cleared on no PreE.  Although my blood pressure was still slightly elevated at this appointment I'm now considered to have gestational hypertension.  I just joined the twice weekly NST club along with growth ultrasounds and more appointments with the doctor.  It's a pain to go so often BUT as long as baby stays safe I'm ok with my overly cautious doctor.  He also suggested I won't go over 37 weeks but we will see as we get closer if things stay pretty steady.

@stashattack We definitely have a closer hospital but I really like my doctor!!  Hes been so great with my other pregnancies I didn't want to change anything.  Plus the hospital is set up to handle earlier babies.  Now if I do end up going too early for them to handle baby, baby will be sent about 45 minutes away (from the delivering hospital) to a very good children's hospital that is actually closer to my house.
