We have an orange cat named Leo who looks like Queen Elizabeth I when his winter coat comes in. He's an asshole but he's a terrific mouser. He mouses for the whole neighbourhood and sleeps in the garage. We also have a Huskador named Sophia Petrillo. She is my boo thang. She has the insanity, stubbornness, and undercoat of a Husky with the digging propensity of a Labrador. She loves the kids and is my protector. She also loves eating my shoes.
My son has a goldfish he got for his birthday. We've managed to keep it alive for 2 months. Miracle of miracles.
This is my cat Sheldon. She’s a girl but I was dead set on using the name (named after Sheldon from Big Bang). Much like her name sake, she’s a brilliant jerk. Luckily, she loves me and she’s extremely attached to me. I’m a little worried that she won’t like the baby but I’m hoping she’s just as loving with him/her. Sometimes, I feel like she’s just preparing us for our child. She throws up, we can’t have nice things, she cries for no reason... but I love her.
^^This is my first baby. Truccio short for Petruccio from the Taming of the Shrew. MH’s ex was weird and named all their pets after Shakespearean plays. He’s an 11, almost 12 year old Shih Tzu. He’s a fierce guard dog of the babies until they get to grabbing faces stage and actually way more patient with my kids than I expect. His favorite kid is DS2 who is constantly feeding him from the high chair. So clearly he can be bribed.
^^We got Remy, short for Remington Imperial Desire ((British KC registration names are hilariously long)) our last winter in England, the same month we finally got pregnant with my first. He just turned 5 in July and he’s my snuggle buddy. He is also not as patient as Truccio and he’s a British teacup Shih Tzu—he’s 7 lbs soaking wet, less than half of his big brother. He was also a bargain puppy since he was the last of his litter and returned because he was more “orange” than chocolate. Dog colors are so funny to me—Truccio is considered blue. 😂
^^that’s Loki—he found us last September after a neighbor had stolen my cat the year before on Thanksgiving when I was pregnant with DS2. Anyway, he and my oldest fell in love so we adopted him. He is on notice though because he keeps bringing me live or semi-live “presents”—and my nerves can’t take it much longer. I told him he better knock it off or he can go hunt mice on my daddy’s farm. So far he’s brought in more lizards that I can count ((11 in one three day stretch over the summer)), two baby quail, too many baby bunnies ((all of which got moved to the golf course if they were big enough to survive on their own)), grasshoppers, and one bird. 😡 The lizards are the most common and they freak me out. Trust me, I am more scared of them than they are of me. 😂🤦🏻♀️ Oh and he also bites people to wake them up, especially toes and especially at 3 am because he wants to play.
Here are our girls. Stella has to wear a special SPF 50 shirt in the summer because she's allergic to the sun. 😒 We also have an ancient (17 in January) Doberman mix, but I can't find a picture of him right now. He was my first baby. I got him in college and he's been with me for all of my big life events. He's pretty good with the kids now, but he thinks newborns are squirrels, so it takes a little time.
And here's our Conure, Mac. He likes to kill Kleenex.
She looks fierce but loves snuggles, fetch, and long walks not on the beach (gross sand). She’s the most patient animal with my daughter and is the biggest chicken you will ever meet... but she has a good bark that keeps people alert
We took in two all black half grown kittens four years ago right before Halloween. The boy kitty got into my car one morning. That’s when I knew. The big male Shadow is in the clothes basket. He tolerates DH, I’m his person. His sister Eve is the smaller and dimmer of the two. I had serious concerns when the twins were born as they still have street manners but so far so good. I’ve just gotta keep DS from trying to head butt them back...
this might be my favorite thread so far, I am loving all of these pics. This is Nikki, our 12 year old mini daschund. She loves to sleep and play with her ball until it gets taken away because she doesn't know when to quit.
@heyybritt omg I just have a huge soft spot in my heart for dachshunds! My grandparents had one when I was growing up and KC was the best. And my BFF had a huge one named Fat Benny. 🤣
This is Dante, our almost 6 yr old golden doodle. He is the absolute best with the boys. He is a great dog in general, but his downfalls are he loves a little too much when he first meets people, and he jumps on counters when we aren’t looking to steal food. Other than that, he’s perfect.
mamaqdubu I want a dog so bad right now but: 1. the twins aren't yet two, I'm not sure getting a puppy/half grown dog right now would be the best thing. 2. I've gotta be choosy about what type of dog we get, I and DD both have super sensitive skin to pet dander. Breaking out in hives where your dog has brushed against you is a problem. I've been considering a golden doodle but they are priced a little high for me right now. I'm going to be looking at some rescues soon though to adopt.
@mdfarmchick omg the bernadoodles are too much. we almost got one ourselves!!
@stella_700 I definitely suggest a doodle then! Dante is an F1.5 which means he's 75% poodle (goldendoodle 50/50 bread with a 100% poodle). He doesn't shed at all! I'm very allergic to cats, and somewhat allergic to dogs that shed (stuffy nose and can get some skin irritation as well). Here's the thing, the more golden you have, the more docile and laid back, but also more chance of some shedding. the more poodle you have, the smarter/more stubborn poodle traits but you get curlier hair that doesnt shed. We had to do A LOT of training with Dante when he was a puppy because he was soooo manipulative and smart. I've had a lot of dogs in my life so I'm not even trying to just say "oh my dog, he's so smart" or anything... but the poodle breed is just really really determined and smart so I would definitely suggest you wait until the kids are old enough to also follow the very strict dog rules you'll need to put in place with this breed! (just my 2 cents. and for what it's worth, we will DEFINITELY consider another doodle breed in the future. they are awesome).
We have a 9 year old dog - Chewbacca (Chewie for short) MH and I got him when we had been dating for just about a year. His mom is a German Shepherd, but dad is unknown. He sheds a few blankets worth of fur every day and is lazy as a dog can be.
Loving this thread! I've got 2 wiener dogs and they are adorable. Our older one is 7 and our younger one is 1. The older one is much more snuggly on the couch, and the younger is snuggly at bedtime but follows you around everywhere and doesn't need a leash. The old one will still dart away like it's a game and never let you catch him. They are minis but big
We have two huge and fluffy cats named Sebbie (short for Sebastian) and Lucy. They’re brother and sister adopted from the same litter. They will be 10 in March. We brought them home the very weekend we returned from our honeymoon and they’ve been with us through thick and thin ever since.
I have two shih-Tsu’s named Tucker and Liam. They’re both 8 but Tucker is about six months older. They’re bff’s and so close we joke that they’re married - which while a joke is also about as close as you can get to the truth and remember that they’re dogs and not humans.
And last, and definitely least because she’s tiny, is my meanie Maya, who will be 7 in November. She’s wilful, snappy, anxious, and not patient with our children but alas we love her in spite of herself. In her mind she is a 100 lb beast, but I’ve not had the heart to tell her that the sweaters I buy her in the winter to keep her warm are size XS.
We have two French bulldogs and two cats! Im curious how they will react to a baby. I think the cats will be super curious and want to always be around it and the dogs may want to bring it their toys 🤣 photo shows (left to right) Syrius, Lola, Luna, & Simon!
@mdfarmchick Tucker is so unusually colored. He was black and brown when we brought him home. He has lightened up a lot over the years. His coat gets darker as it grows and closer to the skin he’s all gray and white. We joke that he’s just every color.
I missed this thread last week when I was on vaca! We have an 8 month-old goldendoodle named Winnie (after Winnie the Pooh). She is SO good with DS, but eats everything in sight except for her own food. She's supposed to be 50-60 lbs full grown, but is only about 40 right now, probably because she doesn't eat very much.

Here’s my Pluto! He’s black as night and brings us dead gifts anytime he escapes. Sometimes they are mutilated too, or just body parts. @mdfarmchick I think alive might be worse then dead though! He was snuggling up to me the other night. ❤️
Here’s Puma (aka Anasazi). She is old as dirt (16) and still full of life. Her and Pluto are not friends but I think they both enjoy each other’s company. Puma doesn’t like to get her picture taken. She’s got some Siamese in her but I got her in the pound in 2006 after she was hit by a car.
