Re: Weekly Randoms - Week of 9/16

  • I leave for work training tomorrow until Friday. I just got an email from my daughter’s teacher about helping with the homecoming parade this Friday. I’m so bummed I had to say no.
  • Loading the player...
  • I'm pretty sure that pickle flavored potato chips were invented by pregnant women, for pregnant women.

@TattoosandLace That's such a bummer,  I hate when I have to miss stuff for my son's school, which is a lot, because everything they do is during the work day.
  • I think I'm getting sick. My head and throat are sore and my neck is starting to feel all swollen as well, which always happens when I get sick. Please nooooooo
  • @heatherlynn321 bahaha I laughed so hard at that.

@soprano19 oh no! Too late to take all the vitamin c?
  • I’m sure it’s just because I didn’t grow up with it, but I find it real odd that none of the hotels in Europe have top sheets. Who wants to wrangle a duvet cover over a duvet every day? That would make me crazy!
  • @mdfarmchick I'm flooding my system with vitamin C now, so it should help but not completely salvage the situation. Bah.
  • Yay, great numbers @mokay19!

  • That's great news @mokay19!
  • @mokay19 those are awesome! Yay!

@mamaqdubu we had this debate in my last BMB about who does and doesn’t use a top sheet. I must admit it didn’t bother me when we lived in Europe though. 😂
  • @mokay19 great numbers!! And that scan isn’t too far away!!
  • @mamaqdubu truthfully, I end up kicking off the top sheet every night. It is weird to think their hotels don’t use them though.
  • @mamaqdubu I never used a top sheet until I got a really thick down comforter with duvet and only use them because I don't want to deal with cleaning the duvet or blanket that can't fit in a home washer/dryer.

@mokay19 those numbers look great! I can't wait until I get to have a scan. I haven't even called to make my chest appointment yet.

I had dd wear a sister bear shirt today when I got home from work. It took my husband probably 15 minutes abs me shoving her in his face for him to realize what the shirt said. He thought it was her baby bear onesie... That's a 6 month onesie 😂😂 he seemed surprised but not as excited as I thought he would be. We got pizza too celebrate because I didn't feel like cooking. We also discussed names and realized we do not like the same names at all and we were very lucky to agree on dd's name. We downloaded the Kinder app for name matching and we have 2 matches in both boys and girls, so that's a start.
  • So I do not recommend having someone almost slam into you with the potential to push you into a concrete wall while in the first trimester.

Guys. I was sobbing today. I was turning left from the highway to an on ramp for the interstate and there’s a bunch of construction there right now so it used to be a two lane on ramp but now it’s one. Some idiot turned left from the straight lane on the highway behind me while I was turning and was pulling into the front of my car because it was only one lane! I locked the brakes up to avoid him slamming into the front passenger side and pushing me into the wall. Thank God that there wasn’t a car close behind me because I don’t know that they would have been able to stop. As it was the car behind me did have to brake pretty hard but at least it was further back to begin with. I managed to find the horn while I was locking up the brakes and the dude didn’t even flinch. It was like he supremely did not care that he was going to slam into my car. 😣🤬😭
  • @mdfarmchick omg I’m glad you’re okay! Hopefully you can get some relaxation to recover from that??

Possibly a silly question: everywhere I read it says to take 25 mg Unisom at night to help with nausea. But I accidentally bought 50 mg... has anyone taken 50 mg while pregnant? I’m too scared to risk it without talking to my doctor first haha. Last pregnancy I was on Diclegis so I never had to think about this 🙂
  • @mokay19 I took the 50 mg sleep gels the last time per my doctor for insomnia and had no issues. The 25 mg I think just makes you less sleepy if you take it mixed with B6 during the day.

@mokay19 are they gels or tablets? Can you break them in half? I don’t have any idea about the safety aspect, but I know a 25mg dose hits me pretty hard. Im not sure how well I would take a 50mg dose (I did B6 and unisom last pregnancy because Diclegis wasn’t covered by my insurance and was super expensive!)

ETA: for anyone else in the same boat, you can also ask your OB for diclegis samples. I told mine how expensive it was going to be and she loaded me up with samples to last a few weeks through the worst of it!
  • @mamaqdubu unfortunately, they’re gels so I can’t break them. I might check to see if Diclegis is covered since it worked last time, but we’ll see.
Last pregnancy I was sick and puking until 30 weeks so I’m just hoping this one doesn’t last as long!
  • @mokay19 ugh I am so sorry. I know I have at least three more months of this but I hate that you go all the way to 30 weeks. I hope it ends earlier for you!
  • I'm going to a meeting/presentation at work with lots of people from different departments...  there will be food served...  I have this fear that illness will strike at this inopportune moment even though I have been feeling fine all day.
  • @pirateduck hopefully it's nothing super stinky!
  • @pirateduck Good luck with the food!
@mdfarmchick That's so scary. I'm so happy I don't drive often and when I do I live in the sticks so don't have to deal with many people. Biking/walking to work has been great this fall.

I'm so ready for a nap today. I'm thinking of booking my appointments this year in the morning and then just taking the whole day off so I can nap while dd is at the sitters. It's a 1.5 hour drive to our ob/gyn/hosptial I will deliver at so really there's 3 hours of my day taken up by just driving so I deserve a nap.
  • I had HG last time so not looking forward to what I know is coming. 28 hours in the car headed to a wedding this weekend with my parents. Hopefully it holds off.

  • @whatsbumpinpumpkin oh no! To the car and HG. I hope it holds off this time.
  • That sounds miserable @whatsbumpinpumpkin. I hope it holds off (and you don't get it at all) until you get back. Are you guaranteed to get HG if you've had it once or is it just more likely?
  • @ruby696 just more likely. We’ve also figured out a few things that might have contributed and resolved them... so fx it won’t be as bad.  I had tachycardia ryhthmia which the aspirin should help, I had gallstones and since had my gallbladder out.

  • @whatsbumpinpumpkin Well I hope you have a much easier time this time. Ugh.
  • My date for the night is running late which means I will be going out to dinner alone (not enough time to go home and drive back), but hopefully she will still make it for the movie we chose to watch at the film fest...  ugh.
  • @pirateduck what movie are you seeing?
  • @mdfarmchick that's so scary! I have a 45 mile drive (one way) to work everyday and I am so nervous about everything especially after my fender bender last week!

Speaking of the accident last week I was considering going to a chiropractor to see if they can help with my back pain.  Does anyone have any thoughts/insights on chiropractors while in the first trimester? I emailed my OB and hopefully will hear back tomorrow but just curious what others have heard/experienced.  I've only been to the chiro a handful of times and it was probably like 7-8 years ago so I'm pretty much a newbie lol
  • @bananapanda I went to the chiropractor my entire last pregnancy (once a month). This time around I actually had an appointment the day after I got my positive test and I plan on going the entire pregnancy again.

  • We are dog sitting and surprise surprise, the Australian Shepherd has decided I’m the person he’s guarding. It’s really and kind of endearing. The littlest is not so much a fan of being warned about getting too close to his momma though. 😂
  • @m6agua ok that is very reassuring! I was pretty sure it was safe, but good to hear from people who have actually gone during pregnancy :)
  • @bananapand I went to the chiro for the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy trying to get my breech baby to flip, I'm sure if it's safe when I was the size of a whale (they have an awesome pregnancy pillow that allows you to lie on your stomach when you're that far along) it's safe when you're not far along.
  • @shamrocandroll welcome back! I was just thinking how we hadn’t “seen” you in a little bit! Hopefully you snuck in out west before the rain picks up!
  • @mokay19 Thanks!  We got some rain and some sun.  I'd say about 50/50.  It was beautiful out there, regardless!

  • @shamrocandroll did you stay in Seattle? We lived in Puyallup for 2 years (about 45 minutes south of Seattle) while DH was stationed out there.
  • @mokay19 We did!  We stayed in Leavenworth for 2 nights (for a friend's wedding) and Seattle for 2 nights.  I loved Seattle!  :)
