Hi! Based on my LMP I am 8w4d today. Had my first visit with my midwife and she attempted an abdominal US but we couldn’t see anything. She scheduled me for an official US on Wednesday. She told me not to worry but I can’t help it! Has anyone had anything similar? This is my first pregnancy so I’m really not sure what to expect.
@emilyace my first abdominal US was at 11 weeks and I had to have a pretty full bladder for the tech to see anything... I had transvaginal up until then.
@emilyace I think it totally depends on the skill of the technician, your size, fullness of bladder etc. Also your dates could be off depending on when you ovulated, so you could be quite a bit earlier than you'd think based on LMP (unless you are pretty in tine with your ovulation). I am glad they are getting you in on Wednesday. Keep us posted. They were able to see around 7 weeks for DS with me abdominally, but I was pretty lean. I haven't gone with this one yet. With DD, my practice defaulted to transvaginal before 10 weeks because you are likely to see more! FX for Wednesday!
@emilyace I second everything already said. There are SO many factors that go into early ultrasounds. Don't lose hope! I had one in a previous pregnancy that showed nothing but the next day a different one showed a happy little bean! The first machine just wasn't as good. Keep us posted for wednesday!
I caught my DS's nasty summer cold and I have a terrible cough. I have been holding off on taking meds because I'm too nervous to do so, but I think I need to take something for my cough so I can actually sleep at night. Is Delsym ok? I'm 5+3. From what I've read, it sounds like it is, but thought I'd ask here too. Thanks ladies!

Everything I eat goes right through me. Besides dehydration, is there anything I should be concerned about? All my other pregnancies I had the opposite issue, so this is definitely new to me.
@chichiphin@EmilyLove25@miss.sally thank you all so much! She did say she wasn’t surprised that nothing showed up since the thought it was a little early for an abdominal one. I will post an update Wednesday! What a nerve wracking process this all is 😂💕
Ok, is anyone else suffering from some extreme BM issues? I literally feel like I’m full because I have such slow moving poop...gross, sorry. I constantly feel like I need to go, but when I finally can, it’s like barely anything. It’s not hard or anything, so I’m not sure if I should take anything to “get things moving”. Please tell me I’m not alone! The gas and “full” feeling is AWFUL!! Help!
@mommyxthree2020 I had this really bad with my last pregnancy. I took Miralax daily and it eventually worked wonders. I tried fiber gummies but they gave me gas so bad it hurt.
@mommyxthree2020 I have definitely been having some constipation. I also feel full a lot of the time, but once I start eating something I realize how hungry I actually am. Very weird feeling.
@onetokeovertheline Ha it's funny that one post is about your issue and the other after it is about constipation. This pregnancy, I am in your boat. As you indicated, I've been staying extra hydrated and avoiding trigger foods. I find bland, boring foods stay put. Rice has been okay for me too! FX it passes quickly!
@onetokeovertheline@EmilyLove25 🙋🏼♀️ In the everything going straight through camp over here! New symptom for me this time too. Fortunately the heat has been making me drink lots of water anyways. I bought some new rice crackers at the store yesterday, so we’ll see how those work out.
Re constipation: make sure your prenatal has a good amount of magnesium in it, or take additional. Magnesium amino acid chelate, oxide, and citrate are best for constipation.
so I'm pretty sure I'm as bloated at 5 weeks as I was at about 8 weeks with my last pregnancy. could this be because **tw** my loss at 15.5 weeks was in march **tw**?
@momoftoddlers I’d just listen to your body. I’m not really restricting myself at this point and my doctor didn’t seem concerned. My DS is 45lb and still loves to be carried by me. DH thinks I should stop but I told him I’m sure there will be a point that I have to bc of my belly but right now I can and want to do it as long as I can.

Can we talk morning sickness remedies?
I’m now unfortunately feeling nauseated most of the day. I picked up “ginger chews” out of desperation and they are kind of gross, but I will say it helped a bit. I’m trying to eat a snack every 2-3 hours but right now I feel full and nothing sounds good.
@kantobean, I had pretty debilitating MS until my OB recommended taking 10-25 mg of B6 + half or full tab of unisom (full at night 😴) three times a day. Went from throwing up >15 day to eating again. Definitely eating snacks about every two hours to stave off some queasiness, but it’s made a world of difference. Super safe too — been studied for decades and in 100ks of moms. I know the unisom is too much for some people, but worth trying!
@kantobean I found these sour mint things that seem to help but it also warns about excess use bc I have to basically keep eating them and I’m wondering what excess is 🤣
I can’t stand ginger so I’m looking for remedies too. I don’t want meds bc I’m not actually throwing up that much just nauseous all day and night.
Me: 33 | DH: 34 Married: October, 19, 2015 EDD 2/22/17 DS1 born on 3/2/17 EDD 3/8/20 DS2 born on 3/10/20 EDD 11/24/23 (Formerly Marriedhamstermom Feb ‘17)
I just started taking Unisom at night, and am waiting for my B6 to be delivered. I’m eating small snacks throughout the day, as well as sucking on a jolly rancher or preggo pop when I feel sick. I’m trying to stay hydrated too. This time around so far seems better than last time, with bad days but some good days too.
I tried just taking b6 and it did nothing. The unisom was making me SO groggy even though I only took it at night. I’m going back to it tonight though because for two days I haven’t even been able to keep a glass of water down 😩
@pdx2020 oh wow that’s extreme! I’m glad you’re feeling better! I will try B6.
@varimama I am in the same boat, not throwing up yet. I’m pretty sure I could if I tried, but I really really hate throwing up. I just feel nauseated most of the day.
@laurenm2123 do you like the preggy pops? Maybe I should get some. I also feel better this time around (I was puking by 5.5 weeks last time) so I feel bad complaining, but I still feel gross.
@miss.sally oh man I’m so sorry. With how tired I am, I don’t think I could do unisom either. I hope you get some relief soon!
I'm also in the nauseated but not throwing up phase right now, and I got some "Fruit 'n Sour" Jolly Ranchers to try since they were cheaper than the preggy pops. Worked alright today for me though I did have quite a few of them through the day.
@kantobean My MS with DS was a nightmare (and lasted 34 weeks), and I found nothing really helped. This time it is bad, but I think more manageable. One thing I started doing Sunday is tracking the times of day it is worse for me, and I've actually found sort of a pattern (first wake up, 11 AM, 4 PM, and 8-10 PM). For some reason, knowing when to expect it helps me. And my time to shine/feel the best is inexplicably 8 AM-10 AM and 1-2 PM so I try to eat something then. Not sure if that is a remedy but might be helpful to tune in and see when you feel the worst?
To the ladies taking Unisom - have you found that it works well with helping you sleep? My insomnia is sooooo bad right now...I am exhausted but I toss and turn all night and wake up every hour. I need relief!!
My dr suggested eating mozzarella cheese sticks- they take a while to digest so should keep you full longer. She also suggested Tums for nausea and I was skeptical but they really helped me yesterday!!
@rs0806 OMG I am so bitter. I'm a vegan, but OMG mozzarella sticks sound amazing. Keep in mind I haven't had one in 20+ years. Hahah. First trimester sickness is so weird... why would I want that???
@mommyxthree2020 the unisom helped me last night! I’ve been having HORRIBLE insomnia despite being dead tired. I took a whole tablet plus b6 right before bed and I think I slept better than I have in a week.
@EmilyLove25 my mom was a vegetarian before she was pregnant with me and she craved hamburgers! She gave in and ate them while pregnant. Lol. The body does weird things!
Anybody have a good recommendation for a pregnancy tracking app that's good for other family members? For example, my MIL would probably love to be able to follow along with the Ovia-style "baby is the size of ...." type updates.
@sunflower_auryn I have the premium version of the Glow Nurture app and it allows you to add a partner, I guess you can add your MIL instead
the “I’m expecting” app also has an option under settings to “invite your loved ones” so maybe it’s possible to add multiple people on that app

@sunflower_auryn I don’t know if there is one specifically for family members, but she can make an account on any of the popular tracking sites and just put the baby’s due date.
